The vest is great, I got it. I measure 171cm, I weigh 71kg, my chest circumference is 101cm. I have to be size "L" because the inner bag is very tight under my arms. The normal size for me is "S", but this is not possible ... The inner bag should be better shaped!
Hi, thanks for the video, the product is new and there is not too much information. I have this vest for about four months. I and I mean also other people are facing the issue with connecting the Android phone to the vest before riding. For me never without problems. When powered from a charger, then it is better( but in the last app version, there is an armed status in-app while the vest is charging, although on the vest is battery status blinking and the vest is not armed, this make firmware updates little complicated because other options in-app are inactive.). I hope with other versions of firmware and application in future it will be better.
Excellent video, just a quick question ???? If the vest is not deployed , is any maintenance to do by the provider ???? in 2 or 3 years?? to keep it in good and trust working conditions?????
Really great video - love it and will also pull the trigger to get one of these once available in my store in Germany. The only thing that got me thinking is the 299$ for the service in case of a deployment, given we heard that what has to be done is an ultra simple exercise which takes 2min or less at max. This doesn't seem right and feels off in the eyes of an end customer. Whats your view on that? Maybe I misunderstood :)
I think it is $179 in US for deployment; then $300 for repacking. To your point - very expensive. Hence, the reason that many riders prefer using a tether system with CO2 cartridges that costs just a few dollars. And if it is that easy, this should be a self-managing unit (if we can operate the bike, I’m sure we can handle the airbag). Overall, I think the best feature of this vest is the amount of body that it covers.
I am a software programmer and I don't understand why not put both algorithm on the vest and control what algorithm to use when needed. Most of my ride are on the street but from time to time I am doing track days and I don't want to buy to different airbag system so it will be much easier just to switch from one algorithm to the other when needed
I just bought thr tech air v2 suit and this tec air 5 bag.. I was under the impression that the airbag zipped into the suit so you could put the suit on with the bag in one go.. is it a case your half suited and you put the air bag on then pull your suit up?? Also no videos to show how to connect the air display cable to the tec air 5 bag??
How do I know which size is right for me? I have an alpinestars missile v2 professional size 52. I tried the airbag and the size S is really tight and hurts a little in the armpits. Should it be like this or is size M better where there is some slack?
no they do not do the job of an "ads" or leat device. they protect vital organs front and back. basically an airbag in the shape of a t shirt. Its a fantastic device and in fact very comfy to wear, but you still need the leat for the job you have in mind.
That is specifically the reason why I am looking into other airbags. Beeing paraplegic sucks, tetraplegic even worse. I think the ixon airbag looks like it has most of the features here and the neck protection with admittedly shorter battery life. Also some of the mechanically activated one like the turtle offer neck protection, also that's really ugly so if vanity is an issue I would stick to the ixon. You could also go with dainese but again it doesn't have neck protection, and its much thinner so less protection, which makes it kinda pointless on paper.
Guys. I have a Stadler suit. My back protector is long, wide, and rated 60% above level 2. I do not want to REPLACE it with a level 1 protector, which is automated. Automation is never completely perfect. Honest question. Is it REALLY a realistic proposition to wear this vest under my jacket, WITHOUT removing the existing back protector.?. On your dummy, I note that the firing mechanism location in the back protector seems to fit into a concave recess in the dummy, which I believe is no5 a true representation of how it really fits on the body, and hence my question. I love the system - but need to know if it can work for me. Thanks guys.
I think the data is used to analyze accidents. At what speed was triggered how quickly, which traces of use the west has after the accident etc. So must not necessarily be bad for the research that also future drivers might save life. Ultimately, real accidents are again different from test accidents, so many more parameters are taken into account. But just think that it's mainly because of it, my thought behind it is why perhaps the data is collected by mobile phone
Even highly skilled MotoGP racers with their super sticky tires and carbon brakes are not able to generate enough G's to trigger the TechAir, so you are unlikely to be in this scenario unless you are crashing.
This video is very interesting, thank you for this informations. I understood that the system is armed after a few seconds, the time to get on the bike. But what happens if it's armed well before or if we make a sudden movement on the bike or if we stand leans while leaving the motorcycle upright when we are stop on a traffic light, is it possible that the airbag deploys unexpectedly ? PS : sorry for my English, it's not my language.
While theoretically you can cause the system to deploy if you try really hard, it will not think your average movements are a crash. The forces that are typically involved in a real crash and very different and the system is designed to recognise them instantly.
Unfortunately that's not an option. From usability point of view it would definitely be nice to be able to tell the status without unzipping the jacket.
4 hours to 100% charge time: maybe when brand new. Before long it takes twice that. I've had my current phone about 6 years but it still recharges really fast. Why can't they put a decent battery in these things?
It feels a little tight under the arm pit but its not uncomfortable, would that happen to an issue going down the line? I know the vest should be snugged but will the vest also push inwards as the vest expands? Just curious! I have a medium right now
@@BeachMotoLosAngeles is Tech Air 5 with Tech Air jacket from alpinestars less hot then the sane jacket and a Tech Air Street? I own a Street and a Alpinestars Viper Tech Air jacket. Heat has been my only complain. Thinking about a switch to the 5!
@@motodisiac thanks, I live in Brazil, in my region it is hot all year long. When taking medium to long trips, it is ok. But commuting is my main problem, I don’t intend to use without the jacket. I also can’t really compare both in a image, as I am yet to find picture or video of the street and 5 together.
Well, we can provide comparison. It's as breathable as Dainese Racing D-Air jacket, and that jacket is all perforated and only has airbag in the front. Compared to Tech Air Racing or Street vest, it's a lot of improvement.
Hello, I would like to ask u, how to clean the vest? In the summer the weather is really hot and ofc we can't throw it to the washmachine to clean it. How to get rid of smell after a journey? Probably HangAIR hanger with fan? Is it the only way?

It would be awesome if they include a neck protection/immobilizing collar module to this vest. Maybe for version 2.0
I have mine and this video helped with a lot of info. Will be looking for operation vids.
Good questions. Thanks for putting this together.

It may be in the works, stay tuned.
Of course, but Alpine Stars very much wants you to buy two different vests@@BeachMotoLosAngeles
IT has a track Mode already
One question that was missed is can the vest be worn with a 12V heated jacket.
Really good interwiev 👍
So Techair 5 is not recommended for the track, but is it safe for fast canyon riding?
That's correct. The algorithm of deployment is optimized for crashes you typically have on the street.

You can only connect the cable if you use the Tech Air Race vest. That's also the one you can zip in. Both is not possible with the Tech Air 5.

Does this vest immobilise the head by bracing under the helmet and therefore protecting the neck in the same way a Leatt neck brace would?

It would make no sense to keep your existing level 2 back protector. When deployed, the airbag will provide x10 times the protection for your back.
How is it i make a wheely and the Front wheel goes down a little bit harder? The West will blow up ? Or will it be normal?
It will not deploy from just bringing the front wheel down hard
So the GPS app tracks your speed and sends it to Alpinestars? Hmm, I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Do you own a cell phone?

what' the main difference between techair5 vs techair street?
TA 5 is much lighter and could be used under any jacket. Tech Air Street will only work with a few compatible jackets. TA 5 is not nearly as hot.

Only if they don't have implants and it's stated in user manual :)
