Hi Brian, I am an admission counselor at UIUC based in Fullerton, CA enjoy your videos and views on UIUC especially the restaurants video and would like to debate a few of them. Keep up the content it great to get a voice of truth to students who are interested in coming to UIUC.
I didn't know how to ride a skateboard so I got a scooter. Best decision of my college career. Same benefits as a longboard. I did find it easier to carry because I could sling it over my shoulder. I can ride it in the snow as he said, but not in the rain. The wheels flip all the water up at you and your pants become entirely soaked.
You can get fenders or just pants that shed water, also if you're gonna skooter skip the razer type stuff and get a Xootr, built like a tank and made for maximum efficiency.
I'd recommend purchasing a cruiser, they're slightly smaller and easier to carry than a longboard while still having enough deck width to maintain more stability than a penny board. Wheels can be bought wide and soft for any kind of deck if you build your own board though.
85 or better yet 97mm wheels on the longboard and you can ride over those big cracks in the road as well. Do you still longboard? I found a decent maple 9ply at the thrift store for $15 last week :3

Does longboard help with snowboarding?
Are there hills or any inclines on campus
The campus has a slight incline from green street to north campus
