The acoustic, that was Dimash playing a Dombra. It's a 2 stringed lyre type instrument that is a national treasure in Kazakhstan. They have a saying that a man is not a Kazakh, a Dombra is a true Kazakh, well something like that it's a while since I heard it. Dimash is passionate about putting traditional instruments from Kazakhstan in all his songs. We love him for his patriotism as well as his amazing personality and love for mankind. He is a truly humble man with so much talent. He puts these videos together and has them come to fruition. He is a completely independent artist with complete freedom to do what he likes. He is a highly musically educated man from the age of 5. He won a national piano completion at age 6. He completed a Broadway masterclass in 2009. He has bachelor degrees in classical music with emphasis on operatic vocals, another in pop and jazz vocals. A Master's in Composition. A PhD. in Musicology in progress. He is a singer composer, multi instrumentalist, actor, model, filmmaker, screenwriter, and music producer. He has his own Creative Centre and Record Label, Dimashali. He is a humanitarian philanthropist and has been appointed as a UN Ambassador for Immigration for Central Asia. He has been decorated twice for his country. He is a mentor for the Virtuosos programme, which helps clasical music and gifted children achieve their goals. A humble man who tells his fans, us Dears, that without us, he is nothing. Without an audience, he would have nothing to do. He also tells us how much he loves us, and he means it, we are family, to him, and vice versa. We love him and will support him unconditionally for life. ❤
I think most of us who supported him from 2017, are extremely happy with Dimash having a cool mood. He's really a doctorate level/ musical genius. If you're looking for the "big Voice", there are hundreds of songs to choose from. Us Older Dears are just waiting. When he says "soon" we patiently wait. But if you've listened to this song a few times, you will find that it entertains on Multiple Levels. LOVE IT.🎉

Great that you commented on the different sound textures in this song.
I‘m amazed by the sounds in this: his pop voice and operatic voice mixed with many layers of background vocals (also his voice) and on top of that the mix of synth sounds and claps with the dombra (not a guitar 😉) ❤🥰 This makes me want to dance so much!
The wonderful thing about him is that he is unpredictable. No song contains all that he can do. (That would be too much for one song. 😂)
So we always keep guessing what the next song or even the next note will be like. 😊
Sometimes he‘ll use more of his range, sometimes he stays in one or two octaves.
One of his songs is sung breathy throughout, and others contain a bunch of totally different singing techniques and styles.
Sometimes the the songs are fast paced and funky, other times calm and hauntingly beautiful. Then he also mixes genres a lot.
One of the newest performances is "You raise me up" (the one that Josh Groban covered as well.) That is my favorite performance of the song, because he sings it with children and purposely holds back. While others go for the big notes, Dimash is soothing.
To me the other singers are like kittens (sometimes grown cats) attacking the song with all their strength.
But Dimash is a Tiger, lying there and purring. Calm and powerful at the same time. 🥰

This is why Dimash has all the tools vocally that allows him to do what ever he wants:
At the age of five, he began to take piano and vocal lessons at the children's studio of Aktobe's Akhmet Zhubanov Music College. He later attended Gymnasium No. 32 in Aktobe and completed a Broadway Musical master class in 2009. In 2014, he graduated in Classical Music with Major in Vocal (Bel Canto) from the music institute of K. Zhubanov University in Aktobe and began his studies in Contemporary Music (Jazz, Pop) at Kazakh National University of Arts in Astana, where he graduated with Major in Vocal on 27 June 2018. On 18 June 2020, he graduated from the same university with a Master's Degree in Composition by defending his Master's thesis with a perfect score, and receiving a recommendation for admission to doctoral studies in music. Now he is in the process of finishing his doctoral studies in America. He still practices three hours a day with his vocal coach/ teacher.
He has studied both classical and contemporary vocals, so no wonder he can do it all.

Of course I respect his desire to expand his audience, but I do regret that he has to make his music more simple and less special to reach them. Also, his stage direcot is not helping by giving him colorful and not very tasteful outfits.

There is no one like Dimash. NO ONE. You want something that will totally ROCK YOUR WORLD? Something that no other artist can EVER top in both the vocal AND the presentation. You know when you go to a theatre and there is a performance where there is a bass singer, a tenor, a pop singer, an alto singer and there are many names in the program? Welllll, you get all of that in this song, and ALL of the singers are Dimash, Dimash, and Dimash, and he's his own back up singer. Crazy. El Amor En Ti. He wrote this for us, his latino superfans. I'm pleased you liked it! Thanks for your reaction! Personally I much prefer the performance video for Smoke as it is minimalist with more focus on his singing and the music. And it has some beautiful dancing - the ladies are the flames to his smoke. It's visually stunning and the action does not detract from the vocals - which it seems to do in the official music video. If you're intrigued, why not do a reaction to that version too? I think you'll like it.

Excerpts from the DimashNews (DN) interview with music producer Dmytro Gordon (DG):
DN: Dmytro, for 8 years you have been working alongside Walter Afanasieff in his company WallyWorld as a lead orchestrator and arranger, and you both have also written music for films.
(Dimash's friend and world-famous American music producer Walter Afanassieff plays a small role in the video: He wears a checked blue shirt over a white shirt, baseball cap and sunglasses and is one of the gangsters who drive up in the car and bring the drugs.)
What are the similarities and differences between producing music for renowned artists in the US and working with Dimash?
DG: „I would say that Dimash is much more open to experimentation than any other artist I have had the pleasure of working with so far. When it comes to an established artist with an existing fan base, they and their label are usually very cautious about trying new styles, new vocal techniques or anything that might confuse or alienate their core audience. And that makes sense, but the catch is that after a while their repertoire stagnates.
Dimash is the bravest artist I know to date: he deeply respects and cares about his dears, but he's not afraid to try new things, which he proves time and time again, including his latest releases. On a personal level, our collaboration has also evolved into a friendship, for which I'm forever grateful. It's much more authentic and fun to make music as friends, rather than just as collaborators. Ask the Beatles.
SMOKE... is completely modern, even experimental in certain aspects. Yes, it has an operatic vocalise in the choruses, but the context in which we hear it makes it impossible to pigeonhole it into a genre. It's also minimalist and open when it comes to the vocal melodies, harmonic content and instrumental textures (though it's not easy, and Dimash's unique vocal skills still shine through). Every musical decision in Smoke is super precise: take one thing away, and the song falls apart. Add another element - and it becomes oversaturated. That's how I would describe it.
... It's such a joy and an incredible privilege to work with Dimash, who I truly consider to be one of the best musicians in human history.
And then to receive all the love and gratitude from his fan base just feels heavenly. I'm so grateful to everyone who supported these new releases and who took the risk with us to open their hearts and ears to the new, unknown sides of Dimash. As for the new works - I don't want to spoil any surprises yet. But to quote a classic: «Soon!»

Dimash can do anything vocally. My personal wish is that his English diction improve more than it has. If it weren't for the subtitles, I wouldn't know most of what he was saying. I think at this point he actually speaks English better than when he sings in English. And yes, I fully expect a string of hate comments for stating my opinion. I'm not bothered by that because sycophants by definition can't help themselves.
You are right. I want his diction to improve in English when singing too. Well, you have to admit it has improved a fair bit in the last 7 years since he was on The Singer and could only say yes, no, thank you and hallo I am Dimash. He's still learning. I can't talk though because I live in France and can't speak much French yet despite a couple of years of French lessons! I think he'll get there in the end, meanwhile we'll have to wait. No hate from me.

You should watch about 20/30 more performances to see and hear what he has done already over the last 7 years.

Taka (lead) is an amazing vocalist, the band altogether is phenomenal. I think you'd really enjoy this performance. If you do, I recommend "We Are" as well. The backstory of this song pulls at my soul. Just love them.

I was craving for it to do more also, because after the first two verses it became too repetitive.
