Was not expecting another episode to be uploaded so quickly, but I am definitely not mad about it! Also regarding the intro talking about the over-the-top gore, they kinda HAVE to do that since cartoonish violence is one of the hallmarks of the games. And I think they nailed it, especially the VATS-type sequence in this episode.
Lucy aiming her gun at that guy with the water purifier is a reference to the fact that most players in Fallout, whenever they start a conversation with NPCs will have their gun out sometimes. 🤣
On the "over the top" violence, the Fallout series has been known for over the top violence since the OG in '97, so it actually isn't just a gimmick here. It's being faithful to the games. The bear was a Yao Guai (or at least similar to the ones seen in Fallout 4). Ma June was "paid a whole lotta caps to give [Wilzig] safe passage outta filly." So yes, it was money. Dr. Wilzig was voluntarily going to Muldaver. He took the Plan D pill because he knew he would slow Lucy down and the important thing was for his head to get to Muldaver.
Yeah that was a weird comment for someone who played the 3 more modern games (the only ones I have experience with; the older ones may have had over the top violence also)
Yeah, it's hard to say the violence in the show is over the top when there's a perk in the games called "bloody mess" that literally makes enemies burst into huge gory bloody explosions.
@@wolfythedev ya literally what I was going to say, its not a "prime" thing, its straight out of the game. Exploding heads and bodies especially using vats to blow off body parts is straight out of the game. Especially the amount of deadly booby traps everywhere that contributed to it as well.
@@LoSTRaMaiR I think "The Boys" being extremely gory is true to the source material as well. The point is Prime Video having a gimmick of making extremely gory as a hallmark of sorts.
Holden is right. They arent following any games with this show but they are following the game formula perfectly. All the references are perfect. The sounds they use are taken from the game. Even the way dogmeat wakes up mimic the game. They did such a great job and Ella is now video game royalty after knocking both Lucy and Jinx out of the park.
The production inspirations isnt really from The Boys. Fallout 3,NV, and 4 had highly graphic kill cameras that show heads, legs, whole bodies blown into bits. I dont think everything that is highly gorey is taking a note from the boys. If the show wasnt highly graphic, it wouldnt feel like Fallout.
@@metalhead522 This show has been following Fallout game mechanics pretty accurately. Things likethe Ghoul using food (tomatoes) to heal himself while being shot come straight out of the game. As a ghoul, the tomatoes would heal him extra as all food in the game heals plus the radiation from the food would also heal ghouls.
June said she was paid a bunch of caps to get the doctor safe transport to Moldaver. The doctor was wanted because he escaped the Enclave with whatever is in his neck. The shootout in Filly is pure Fallout, not The Boys. The slow motion bullet cams and stuff are presumably an homage to VATS, as are the gory results.

@sathanas420 enough with this "true fans" nonsense. You're not better than anyone else because you still play a bunch of old video games dude, get outside and achieve something IRL to brag about.
God this show is so good. Y’all are making me want to rewatch it again. Glad y’all are enjoying it! It made me start a new save on Fallout 4 and beat the game for the first time!
Hopefully by now you have realized that this series is fully in the Fallout storyline, continuing on from the games, and the games and future seasons will continue the story, or rather the world. This series was made along with Todd Howard.
17:30 The T-51b is my personal favorite Power Armor. It's a bit sad that we only see the T-60 in the series, so I'm hopeful that we’ll see the T-51b in Season 2. The T-60, which was introduced in Fallout 4, represents the next evolution of the T-45 family. The T-45 was the first Power Armor created, introduced in Fallout 3, and primarily worn by the East Coast Brotherhood of Steel members. Between Fallout 3 and Fallout 4, the East Coast Brotherhood stumbled upon a stockpile of T-60 Power Armor. Since the T-60 was only put into service a few months before the Great War, it’s quite rare and mostly found on the East Coast. Which explains the large stockpile found by the Brotherhood of Steel, who then travel to the West Coast who we then see in the Fallout series, explaining the East Coast accents, along with the T-60 showing up. The T-51b, on the other hand, was used by the West Coast Brotherhood of Steel and is iconic for many fans of the series. It's depicted on the box art for the first Fallout game. It also appears in Fallout: New Vegas, where it’s worn by higher-ranking members of the Mojave Brotherhood chapter, while others still sport the T-45 armor. You could also find a single set of T-51B in Fallout 3 locked behind a quest, unless you get the Operation Anchorage DLC that allows you to find a winter version of the Armour.
This show made everyone want to play fallout 4 again, just after it came out fallout 4 playtime increased 3000% and it was the top selling game on steam for about a month
Majune was paid by Moldaver to safely get the doctor to her. Majune says that to the Ghoul in the episode. The doctor kills himself because it's more important to give Moldaver what he has then for him to be alive.
I don't want to sound too snooty, but I don't get how some people can't figure out basic things in shows or movies, even though they are clearly explained and/or laid out. I count a few people among my friends that are like that, but it's mostly because they are playing with their phones while watching. People doing reaction videos as their job should probably be good at this.
Yeah this has been mentioned once or twice I think but the gory style of the show has absolutely nothing to do with The Boys. They aren't trying to make it like "The Boys", but like Fallout. Fallout is one of the most gruesome games of it's time, with some of the most horrifying and gory scenes and experiments in video gaming history. If The Boys never existed, this should would likely, and definitely Should be made the same.
I have very little hopes for videom game adaptations but I feel like they nailed Fallout. Yes there's some goofy story plot points and coincidences but the world feels like fallout
Ghouls are basically people that were exposed to so much radiation that their bodies mutated which gave them longer lifespans and can’t be killed as easily. It the radiation has taken its toll, hence the way they look. They’ll get more into it later in the show but I believe shows expands on the lore more and something that we don’t see in the games
The Fallout devs at Bethesda were actively involved with the production of the show and were even given scripts to review before they started filming - the devs even asked them to leave out some things they had in the original drafts because they were too close to events in the next Fallout game. The woman who gave Lucy the task of delivering the scientist to Moldaver told Lucy she was getting paid a lot of caps to do that... you should know, Holden, that bottle caps are the currency of the Wasteland. The head of the Brotherhood of Steel told them why they were after the scientist in episode 1.
Just wanted to clear up some confusion. This show takes place in the universe of the games. Its not a retelling but a continuation. So the events of the games you played happen before this show and future games till take place after.
This show is actually set in the video games canon and is set 6 years after Fallout 4. (There are some continuity shenanigans related to info from Fallout 1, 2, and, one bit of New Vegas. But from what Nolan has said about S2, more of that will be clarified/rectified.) Also you could probably just use this as an excuse for "bad writing", but all the characters are written to be representing their SPECIAL scores, it's why some of the characters are really really stupid in this show.
Just a comment from your opening speech. You sure you played the games as the gore was one of the biggest parts of the games and was always commented on at being great
Really love the reaction, the show is just so entertaining and fun, same as your reactions to it! ❤ Jen always feeling emotions about dogs is a sign that you both should watch the movie about and called "Megan Leavey" it's based on the true story of a female US marine K9 handler and her dog in Iraq and as a veteran afterwards back home. Very heartwarming and lovely movie, trust me on this Holden. With Jen being a vet, I feel like this is the perfect! movie for the two of you. You probably won't read this, but I just have to try because you deserve to watch a movie like that.
The Brotherhood said that the Target had tech that could destroy or save the wasteland. Ma June was paid a lot of caps to give Wilzig safe passage to Moldaver. Wilzig clearly thought that the tech he carried was more important than his life, taking the cyanide to die and make the burden easier on Lucy, but still wanting that tech to reach Moldaver. So I always thought they must have a common goal.
So "The Doctor" has indeed been in quite a few other shows, but I feel like his most known would have to be as Ben Linus in Lost; and as Harold Finch in Person of Interest. At the moment I personally can't think of anything else, but he has a fair few other note-worthy roles.
loved this one! Lucy is lvl 1 Fallout player, just new to the world after being raised in a box (somebody else? feels relatable), Maximus is lvl 20, knows what's up goes and makes some decisions!, The Ghoul is lvl 50 (250?), no bs gets what he needs, but listening to Lucy cause he haven't heard no one talk like this in two hundred years :D episode feels like exploring Fallout all over again , very much like video game with all the props and everything. great job!
Too violent or bloody? You apparently did not get the “Bloody Mess” perk in the Fallout game. The Ghoul has that perk and if you think of him as a level 50 character, every thing make a sense with him.
The one thing I didn't like about this episode was how easily the bear was taken down by the handgun after the hit from the power armor didn't affect it in the slightest. It wouldn't have mattered so much if they hadn't shown just how strong that armor is supposed to be by having him kick that stone through the wall.
Yes Jen, you are correct. Maximus and the Knight ARE actvely "hunting" the doctor. HE is their target. Them being st that exact same spot however is a coincidence. On THAT, Holden is also correct. But obviously there is a small amount of a time skip. I'd estimate no more than about 2 days at the very most.

they were throwing dogs into the incinerator, but the Dr. was actually fudging the numbers of ones just under the weight limit, so he was trying, i still would never have been able to do it, but it's a fallout world... While not following any specific story of the games, this series is stated to be canon to the games and currently the furthest set in the franchise's timeline.
As happy as I am that you two decided to continue this series, I was REALLY hoping you would also continue Dexter: Original Sin. Maybe on Patreon only?
@RuneKing324 We will! We actually finished filming this prior to Christmas and just finished editing all the episodes. We started Dexter as it came out and then took some time from filming for the Christmas break and then having to catch up on some movies first. But we will be finishing it on the main channel.
Jenn, the pipboy opens the vaults. That’s how the raiders got into that other vault, they had a pipboy, I won’t tell you from where that would be a spoiler.
The goul uses an old Chinese grenade launcher.....gouls are essentially just a human that survived the radiation depending on how much radiation they absorbed they go necrotic and their brain most likely rot up or covered in hard masses to the point they are gone beyond eat sleep ect they go feral but if your lucky you keep your wits about you ..you don't age I believe eating and drinking water becomes optional...tho the threat of becoming feral will always loom over you...and due to some bad incidents most settlements are prejudice towards them unfortunately
Wilzig and Moldavar may have a thing going with that chip, but the doctor discovering him with the dog may have sped up the schedule of those two meeting. June mentioned she was paid a lot of caps to get Wilzig to Moldavar so that's her part in this. The main characters, look at them like this. Lucy is the newbie character to the game, never played it before, which explains why she's naive AF about the real world and everything going on. LOL she forgot to put her gun away when she started dialog with that wastelander. Maximus has played the game a couple of times, he's trying something new but still doesn't get it. The Ghoul is the player who's played hundreds of times, has his stats maxed out, knows what's going on in the setting, and has the legendary weapons and armor.
lucy's character archetype follows very close to how it would "feel" playing a fallout on a first time play through. No Spoilers ofc, but her story in the vault is very similar to how fallout 3 begins.
The one thing that both the newer games (and the TV show) should have done is explain the background to this 'alternate' Earth timeline. So many people are confused by that ...
All the games has over the top gore. Also, it would be cool if you guys reacted to a lore video. It would gove you guys a lot of context that would definitely show you guys how interesting the Fallout universe is.

@@HoldenHardman holy quick reply! Super excited! Hope you two had an amazing Holiday season
They use the pip boy to get back into vaults don’t they?
Tod Howard has a cameo in episode 4.
Jenn, the pipboy opens the vaults. That’s how the raiders got into that other vault, they had a pipboy, I won’t tell you from where that would be a spoiler.
The rifle Titus uses is heavily influenced by the Lewis gun from WW1.
Love the old school NIN shirt!
Hehe guess Holden forgot that Fallout is quite a Brutal game, you can blow the enemies limbs with the VATS system :D
He's Ben from LOST!
They nailed the aesthetic of the games
When you guys react to Punisher it’s gone break the internet 😂.. especially the first season… you’re gonna see why punisher the way he is
lucy's character archetype follows very close to how it would "feel" playing a fallout on a first time play through. No Spoilers ofc, but her story in the vault is very similar to how fallout 3 begins.
Im surprised power Armour dosent have heads up displays
Saw? Not Ben from Lost! I know Jen has seen it, but Holden you gotta watch Lost, best show still imo
The one thing that both the newer games (and the TV show) should have done is explain the background to this 'alternate' Earth timeline. So many people are confused by that ...
Those are called yao gui, they were bears mutated by the radiation.
And hopefully you noticed the End Credits show hints of the next episode
Maximus looks nothing like Denzel 😂 do u guys mean Cuba Gooding Jr?
All the games has over the top gore. Also, it would be cool if you guys reacted to a lore video. It would gove you guys a lot of context that would definitely show you guys how interesting the Fallout universe is.
But the games are super violent and gory.🤔
I like the way he says tomatoes sounds like tomators😂
Love the Fallout coverage, but get to the Punisher seasons ASAP!!!!!! They cannot be missed!!!!!!
This episode has probably the biggest plot hole of the series
Another series you should watch both seasons of "Reacher"
The show takes place 9 years after fallout 4
Were yaoguai not in Fallout 4? I guess I don't recall seeing any, now that I think of it...
oh they definitely were, and it takes more than 1 shot from a 10milly to take them down 😂
Have you guys watched Transformers One yet? You guys must watch it! It’s an amazing film! The best Transformers movie to date!
Jenn’s face 2:23 😅
I'm sure It's been said a hundred times already but the show and the games exist in the same cannon world
This is a completely original story for the show. It follows none of the game storylines just happens in the world of Fallout
Forget the punisher I wanna see Jen and Holden watch bridesmaids
If you do decide to play again, find a teddy bear in game, give it to Dogmeat. Make sure Jen is watching.
Q:..but how are they going to show V.A.T.S.?
A:: From 14:20 to 15:25
