Don't worry man youtube is full of people calling maintenance and replacing parts "restoring" and repairing. Never seen someone converting gb display output to ips output. I actually use this screen in my modded GBC and I honestly recommend it if you don’t wanna spend to much money or solder anything. It works well. And while it isn’t an IPS display, it looks pretty good on its own! It does have some light bleed issues on the side, but that can be fairly easily fixed with some thin strips of black electrical tape.
Does anyone know where I can get on of these because he doesn’t say it in the video and I need a drop in kit bc I don’t know how to solder or anything like that
So I installed the kit but now I hear a static noise when I turn it on, sometimes the music from the games drowns it out but sometimes it’s just loud and kills the music, is it the new screen?

Hi, JuicyJakeRepairs. I know i was late to the party to post my comment here! lol. Anyway, I love your new method of install IPS LCD Screen on the original motherboard inside a Gameboy Color system. So, I wanna ask you a question. I am currently own Gameboy DMG and I tried to look a different avenues on how to order correct IPS LCD Screen and other parts in order to install on original motherboard of the Gameboy DMG. I just want to replace from green LCD Screen to Full color IPS LCD Screen itself only, that why i like what you are doing with the Gameboy Color. But I prefer to keep original motherboards without have to pay an third-party modified motherboard in order to running IPS LCD Screen in the Gameboy DMG system. Any advices and new parts recommends would be very helpful. Thanks!
So I’ve installed this kit, well everything is the same except the brackets that hold the screen centered. It works fine. Sound works and it starts up, but the screen does not light up, it’s just normal. Any insight on that for me?
Does anyone know if you need a game in the gameboy to test it? my screen doesnt even look color when i turn it on without a game in there and the sensor doesnt adjust the levels of brightness
I wanted to mod my old GBC to have a Pokémon lens on top and I went with this size screen. It was a perfect first mod for me and turned out great. I’m planning on doing a second Pokémon themed one and probably going to use the same screen since I want the classic Pokémon lens around it again.

Hallo. I got the same screen and installed it. But now my GBC wont start. Just the Red Light turns on for a second. When i connect the original screen it works fine again. I have also installed a rechargable battery. Maybe it dont works with the IPS screen. Hope someone can help me.
thats strange.. i saw the video you sent, the screen lights up. I would try connecting the old screen back in to see if the gameboy itself was damaged. If it works with the old screen then you know its something to do with the IPS kit. Reconnect it again, making sure all cables are in properly, if it doesnt work after this then you probably have a faulty kit
If the power switch takes too much pressure to turn on, is that a fault on the shell I got (not the same shell as what you have) or would that be the ips kit?
I actually have this exact same kit but once its all installed my pokemon silver game won't save for some reason. The internal battery is still fine and still saves on my regular SP and Pocket but not on the gbc with this mod. Any ideas what the problem might be?
Hey so I just installed the kit, and when I turn it on, I hear everything, but the screen doesn't light up or display anything. Any theories as to why?

That's actually a TFT LCD screen not an IPS screen. The IPS is long and rectangular and you need to do some shell cutting with an IPS screen.
