- The end of an era.. I am going to very much miss the Mad Dogs from Delta's fleet. I was very fortunate to be in the area today to capture the final revenue flight on its way to Atlanta, then on to Arkansas for retirement later today. A sad moment in aviation, but unfortunately all good things must come to an end. Blue skies and tailwinds, MD-88 and MD-90..
Flight Information:
Delta Airlines MD-88 (N900DE)
Age: 28 years
DAL88 to Atlanta, Georgia (ATL)
Flight Duration: 1:15

Blue skies and tailwinds, Mad Dog...
This hits different. The mad dog was my favorite plane of all time😭
Thank's Mcdonnell Douglas. You made an extraordinary aircraft.
Happy retirement MD 88, you will be missed
Such a pretty bird, more especially in her original widget paint! A sad day for Delta.
It’s my 13th birthday today and Im very sad that the MD88’s/90’s are retiring today, and I’m sad that an MD88 haven’t visited GRR in over a month. But I’m very glad that you caught the final one!
Happy 13th birthday🎂
Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport Spotter Joshua thanks a lot!
Happy Birthday bud! I am too, talk about right place at the right time.
Lepp Aviation thank you!
Ay Grand Rapids my hometown
The end of an era, I suppose. It's sad that my favorite planes are leaving the skies (747, Maddog, etc).
Me: Watches this video
Dad: Why you cryin so damn loud
it's that one meme format
Nice video Lepp Aviation👍👍
this is sad for MD-88
Sad to see them go. A big goodbye to this machine 💔
RIP my alarm clock (its because those planes r loud) I'm going to miss them a lot :'(
It seriously use to be my alarm clock.. I could always count on the MadDog to wake me up at 6am!
MD - 88 was a plane you could hear taking off from a couple miles away.
717 flyer But then it was delayed and you were late for work 😂
I was out there too at the shopping center on 608, couldn't have been far from where you were. Nicely done and farewell MadDog!
Awesome! I was right behind the Home Depot
A fond farewell to a classic! The Maddogs! A very interesting marvel of engineering. It won't be the same spotting these magnificent aircraft.
Going to miss it 😢
Good bye MD-88👏👏👏👏
Amazing to see an flight that I was on!!!
Lucky you! Hope you had an awesome flight!
Thanks for filming!!!!
So sad. That's really all I can say.
R.I.P. MD - 88. You will be missed. I'll miss the loudness that plane generated every time it took off or was on final approach to my airport (My house is where planes fly over every time they are almost, but not quite close to the ground, anytime they're about to land.)
as i was watching this in tears..They have been such apart of my life for so long. I had the chance to fly on one and it was the best flight ever... I was looking forward to july 11 2020 seeing them for my birthday.. I am very sadened they are gone.....May they rest in a safe place.........Rest well my dear beloved maddog. You will be missed so much by so many around the world...........Goodbye dear old friend.......
Thanks for the shout out at the end
Sad to see them go 😢. Gonna miss them MD ❤....
Glad that you got to capture the last flight.!!
Nice shot of this final Delta Maddog departure from IAD, it's sad to see so many workhorses being retired!
All Mad Dags ho to heaven. Fare well Super 80 fleet.
I do not want the delta MD-88 to go!!!
end of an era, and to think Delta is the last passenger aircraft to operate the Maddogs... so sad
at least they are still living as Charter & immigration planes!
I think there’s plenty in other countries
Man best aircraft of the 90’s
amazing video my bro.,..goodluck for your Lepp Aviation
Man the coronovirus ruined everything😠😭 but I'ma miss getting my heart pounded by the blast of the mad dog
We will all miss you😭😭
Going to miss that roar of the JT8D rattling the skies above
So beautiful. What is it that makes them look like they're doing such a steep clime. Is it the hi t tail? Love them.
It’s the extremely powerful engines
That roar sound is off the chain
Took hundreds of trips on that out of ATL. I’m going to miss that aircraft
Glad you got shot of the greatest aircraft in my opinion in Delta history or that my airlines could ever have Rest In Peace to my favorite aircraft in the world Mad Dog
RIP
So sad.... another one bites the dust :( great video though man!
Indeed.. Much appreciate, man!
YOU GOT IT ON CAMERA!!!
It was a heck of a flight onboard this ole bird yesterday. 29E! Going to miss my alarm clock...
I'm going to miss seeing the Mad Dogs at BWI airport
Comfortable and quiet (ahead of the wing). She’ll be missed. Luckily I had the opportunity to fly on the MD-90 several times to Denver. And the 717 many times on Hawaiian and AirTran.
I was there filming too!
Beautiful plane
I was on that flight...Thanks!!
Dude, looks like you filmed that off of route 50 in South Riding. It’s where I live. Would of been cool to meet you.
Yes,I think they did what AA did to their MD 88s.Well,good thing I have a model of that plane.
If I ever opened up a carrier of my own, I would do anything to restore the MD-80s to their original state, along with some new cabin and cockpit upgrades. These T-tailed legends of aviation deserve a second chance of life and I want to do everything in my heart to keep from going extinct from the aviation world.😢😭😭😭
OMG OMG OMGGGGGGGGGGTTTT I CANT GET OVER THIS
Dad:
Why you crying so dang loud?
I wonder how many of these will be converted to freighter and start flying auto parts to YIP? Maybe you'll see them again.
Would be awesome to see!
I was on that flight!
would have loved to been on the last 88 and the last 90
I had a few friends flying on it. I was quite jealous lol
😭😭😭😭😭😭
Can you do plane spotting at DCA? They have excellent approach views
😭😭😭😭😭😭😢😢😢😢😢
Figures they'd get rid of them before I had a chance to fly on one. Closest I've been on is a 717, otherwise, it's almost always been A320s or 737s whenever I've flown Delta.
Hasta vista MD 88 my fever plain f ever😴😴😴
Who'd expected Danish Air Transport to be the last carrier to fly the maddogs? Definitely missed my oportunity with delta, but won't with DAT. I've missed too much already
a carrier in iran is the last 1
Delta is trimming the fat MD88s,MD90s, 767s,777s, some of the older 757s are not coming back.
Very sad.. However, as of now, many 767s are staying in the fleet
it's look very steep take off
At least B717-200 staying for awhile.
Yea but just not the same as the 88s and 90s
Retirement because the 737-800/MAX and A321-200/NEO’s have 19%+ better fuel burn, not for cycles. So long friend. Many, many watched out of CLE.
The MD-90 had the V2500 engines so it was retired for literally no reason. If it was to many cycles or a headache for maintenance that makes sense but if It wasn't than it was retired for literally no reason. The A319 should be banished to the Desert instead.
dc 9 and co..….!
😭
So sad
: (
The airplane known for steep takeoffs
