I randomly came across this video and I am also an ICU nurse. I don’t think there is anyone else on booktube that is. Glad I found you!
HELLLOOOOO👩🏼⚕️🤘🏼
"all of these final books are fighting for there live..", love your passion
Babel was genius level. One of the best books I’ve ever read. I also loved The Roughest Draft, Vespertine, 6 Crimson Cranes, and The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea.
I read Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer this year and I've been shouting it from the rooftops every since 🤣 It's a beautiful nonfiction that is part memoir and part essay collection, and does a wonderful job of weaving together Indigenous beliefs and folklore with current science teachings. It made me cry over a patch of strawberries and I highly recommend :)
“It made me cry over a patch of strawberries” is my favorite thing i think I’ve ever heard🥲🥲🥲🥲
Just added all of these to my cart. The way you describe them and your enjoyment of them makes me need to read them!
I have several of these books on my shelf and am looking forward to slowing down and enjoying some of them in 2023!
Babel took my #1 spot this year, too! I will think about this book forever! Masterpiece! Happy New Year and here's to more fabulous reads in 2023!
I also absolutely loved Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. I slightly disagree about her pacing because for me the middle was a little slow, but I adored the ending and cried multiple times at how all of the little things tied together in the end.
Babel is high on my 2023 TBR! So excited
I just found your channel and I'm so happy to finally have found a booktuber that has the same taste in books as I and also recommends horror books.
I also loved Legends & Lattes and Book Lovers. Our Wives Under the Sea is in my top 10 of the year and How High We Go in the Dark is probably my favorite book of the year! Great list!
I am moving so many of these to the top of my TBR because of how much you loved them! And my heart is SO FULL hearing you rave about The Last House on Needless Street. 💥
YAAS🥰
Thanks for all of the ideas for new reads. I am behind on my reading and will have more time in 2023 for books 📚!
So excited for you!!!🥰
Both How High We Go In the Dark and Our Wives Under the Sea made my favourites of the year too. It's funny, because How High We Go In The Dark resonated with me for similar reasons to yours. I was a junior doctor in the ICU at the time of the COVID pandemic, so I think that book hit close to home for that reason. Legends and Lattes is on my TBR for 2023 after hearing so many people talk about it; I'm glad you liked it so much.
I loved Cleopatra and Frankenstein as well. So glad I found your channel. Looking forward to more good book ideas from you in the new year.
Yesss, I’m so glad you loved it!! +welcome😍
I've heard so many great things about Legends and lattes. Definitely need to be checking it out!
Jade Legacy was my fave of the year! Babel is my next book to read and I can't wait!
Totally know the feeling about listening to an audiobook and then remembering what you were doing when you listened and thinking of it every time you do or look at that thing! Love that feeling!
I got a copy of legends & lattes but haven’t read it yet, but I’m so excited
So many great books to add to my TBR! I tried last house on needless street and just couldn’t get onto it. I think I’m gonna give it another try.
I am reading Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow in January and now I am even more excited for it!
so happy to find a new channel! we have really similar book tastes❤
WELCOME!🥰
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow was on my top reads from 2022 as well - such an amazing book 😍
the way i've read and loved more than half of these books wow i love us lmao
I also loved Our Wives Under the Sea and Book Lovers!! ❤ also I’ve had Legends and Lattes and How High We Go in the Dark on my TBR so I’m happy to see you loved them!! 🥰
our minds🤌🏼
omg gabby please read legends and lattes IMMEDIATELY (also HHWGITD, but L+L first hehe) 🥰
Haunting of Ashburn is amazing BUT a book by Darcy Coates I looooved was Haunting of Leigh Harker, and also From Below. Both such heartfelt haunted location stories that give you heebie jeebies but also all the feelings haha. Happy New Year!!
Merry Christmas Sydney and Caleb and Happy First Christmas on you being newly weds ✨🎄👼🏻✨😊 And my favorite book of 2022 is a toss up between Belladonna and probably the current one I’m reading Anastasia by Sophie Lark 📖😊
The Last House on Needless Street is my top favorite book of the year! I echo what you said about how much the book impacted me and how much mental head space it took (and still takes) up!
Truly so good!
SO just discovering your channel and several of the books you had were on my list as well, aside from the romance since i dont read any. I like how you get attached to the characters and because of that i wanted to give you a few recs that the characters really impacted me... Hands down #1 is Brother by Ania Ahlborn. (borderline extreme horror but not that bad), the story and characters i think about daily still.. #2 The Whisper Man by Alex North, #3 The Road by Cormac McCarthy
Thanks for the recommendation for the Last House on Needless Street. I immediately downloaded it, read it and loved it.
YESSSS😍😍
Legends and lattes (cuuute, give me 40 of those!), How high we go in the dark (man did I cry!), The last house on Needless Street (wtf mind-blowing) and Jade legacy (yeah, rip my heart out, I don't need it anyway) are on my top-10 list as well!
Merry Christmas 🎄
Hey! Just stumbled across your channel and… you got my SUB😊 Kind regards from Poland🇵🇱
Babel, tomorrow x3, and cleopatra and Frankenstein are on my top books of the year! My ultimate favorites are the Farseer trilogy and the liveship traders trilogy by robin hobb :)
I know this is from a couple of months ago but I totally agree about Legends and Lattes. I really thought it was overhyped, but I WAS WRONG. I loved it and wrote in my review that I wish I had found it years from now so I could continue the story right away with sequels (of which I hope there are several). Totally agree about Book Lovers too. I'm not much of a romance reader, but I listened to this book and found myself thinking that I wished I was reading the book as hard copy so I could keep reading it when it wasn't convenient to listen. I took notes on your other favorites because I think if you loved the books, I will too. I have Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow on hold so now I'm really looking forward to it even more. Finally, 100% agree that Babel was blow you out of the water amazing. The author has to be incredibly intelligent to be able to put together such an intriguing, action-packed, academically challenging, and heart wrenching book. It will be one of my top books ever I'm sure.
I totally agree with The Haunting of Ashburn
omg the charm offensive made honourable mentions i'll take it
Multiple books I want to read on your list. I fell in love with Amanda Gambill this year. Her book "For the record, I hate you." Hit me in some way that I still can't explain.
My favorite book of the year is The Light Pirate by Lily Brooks - Dalton. I'm hoping more people pick it up, it's awesome!
I have it from BOTM!! This comment put it on my radar more!👀
Several of your top 10 also made it into my top 10 EXCEPT How High We Go in the Dark. That one made my worst list 😆
OH NO!! Hahaha I’ll take all the other wins though hehe
My Top 5 were:
Crooked Kingdom (loved the Crows since 2017 but was putting it off because I didn’t want it to end lol kinda stupid reason)
Midnight Library (read it at a very dark moment I had this year and it helped me)
I who have never known men (finished recently and can’t stop thinking about it)
7 de.aths of Evelyn Hardcastle (mind blowing)
Wrong place wrong time (love a good time loop story)
I WAS GOING TO SAY “Honorable mention goes to Crown of Feathers!” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Everyone is shocked by Catriona Ward's book. Read it this month and wasn't surprised. But glad I read it.
Been on a bit of a booktuber crusade for a few months to narrow down one whom i would actually like to subscribe to and follow, youve done it.
Loved this video, the way you summarize, review, and analyze is concise, helpful, and authentic
Great balance and great video! Theres too many book rabbit holes to get lost in on youtube and i’m really valuing yours right now, looking forward to the next one 😊 i’ve picked a few off your list to read!!
ooop the last house on needless street going to the TOP of the tbr
WRITERS AND LOVERS WAS SO GOOOOOD
YES AND YES BBGIRL⚡️
I was almost getting choked up again just hearing talk about Babel 😅 immediate hall of fame-er
Literally though - so good🥹
best book of the year twinsiessss 😎
there was no other option🪩🕺🏼
I have about 130 pages to finish Babel and I don’t want it to end. I love every minute of this book and I think it is my most favorite book of the year.
Our Wives Under The Sea sounds like a military deployment 😂 maybe I'll read it once the husband is out lol
Not you putting yourself in the worst spot to read this book😂
Love all the horror and thrillers.
i dnf'd babel......😂 sry found it monotonous and boring.....imo
