Following up to report my son's friends had a juice box explosion from their backpack on the backseat floor that was fully contained by the floormats yesterday 👍
have the 3d Maxpider for my 3 and they're good but wife saw these on her coworker's car so it caught her attention because of the high coverage on the sides. Thanks for sharing this. I think we'll get a set and just sell our other mats.
A unbiased review just what I was looking for. I’m actually going to buy Tuxmat because of your thorough review…Tuxmat should break you a little something
I've had these mats for my Model 3 for about 1.5 yrs and I love everything about them except their clip system. I live in Virginia and even the heat up here has gotten hot enough to melt away the adhesive for the strips that attach to the tuxmats up front. It's been a bummer because the tall sides of the Tuxmats will fall down and I have to re-stick them every other time I enter the car. Have you had any experience like this down in FL with your guys' heat?
thank you so much for this review!!! i just received my tux mats for my tesla model Y and they look so perfect. They were out of stock for months and i’m so happy with my mats! these are by far the best mats they look expensive and modern not like other mats that look cheap and plastic.
I had actually bought one for my Chevy Bolt EUV. Unfortunately, I never received the car…….it was on order for almost six months. Canceled the order and bought a MODEL Y. I’m so glad I switched!
The trouble with a lot of Tesla accessory videos is so many of them are either sponsored or the RUclipsr was given the product for free to review. That’s why RUclips is flooded with the same few brands. Luckily I knew about tux mats because I had them in my F350 before, they have the best coverage of basically any brand as most do not cover the side of the seat or the side of the centre console.
Great video, answered most of my questions, and I love the look of them in my wife's car - I am leaning toward these for my Model Y. I have a question, doe the back seat mats cover the vents under the front seats? I am assuming not, but just wanted to check.
Great review. I'm waiting for my Tuxmats to arrive. I've not purchased the Trunk/Frunk ones yet and debating on those. do we need to remove the existing Mats Tesla gave or we can put on top of the existing ones. can you please let me know
I took the Tesla mats out before putting in the Tuxmats. Theoretically I could see it laying over the top, but it may throw off the height a little bit or make a lump to some degree.
I’m having a little issue with the driver and passenger mats - the part that extends to the area below where the seat controls are - I’m trying to see in your video , and maybe noticed you tucked them in? Did you clip them in anyway? Mine seem to be up against the plastic part of the seat and rub when the seat goes forwards/backwards. Any tips?
I have the a velcro clip on the end edge of that long flap that covers that side of the seat. The lower edge I have formed into the bottom crease and the top I have tucked into the top crevice between the seat mount and seat. I uploaded an image because its hard to describe imgur.com/J1BmTvF
How much of a pain is it to remove and replace the mats for cleaning with all those clips in place? Seems like that could be extra annoying effort but might be worth it. I agree with your assessment of other mats and was looking for better option. This seems like it!
Good question! I haven’t had to take the mats out to clean them. I’ve only had to shop vac them and damp cloth wipe down to wipe off any mud or dust beyond that. For the trunk mat I’ve taken that out a few times to hose it down after hauling sandy or muddy things and that’s been easy.
Thanks for the video! Very good review and definitely helped us narrow down our search to tuxmat for sure. :) But can you please share a link for the cargo mat from tuxmat? I can’t find it on amazon. Assuming you have 5 seater Model y. What year is it? Would cargo mat work for 2022 performance model ?
My pleasure p d. Here is a link to the cargo mat for the 2022, but I don't think the cargo area changed from 2021 to 2022 www.tuxmat.com/products/8571-tesla-model-y-5-seater-custom-mat?variant=32742195593276&year=2022
Hi Robert, they are pretty grippy it’s kind of like a rubberized texture…so for example things don’t slide around on the trunk mat. I’ve only cleaned them with water so far. Detailer would probably be overdoing it.
I tried it out tonight and ya the lip doesn’t want to fold down flat backward if you want to lay something with the seat back flat. You could fold it forward though.
Great mats, great quality, no one comes close to the coverage these mats provide. My only complaint is the smell. It’s a powerful rubber smell, even after airing them out for 2 days prior to installation.
Literally address all my qualms with those other brands? Check. Save me a lot of time? Check. Purchasing of the Tuxmats? Check. Super solid review? Check! Thank you!
Really well, this past weekend I went to a plant nursery and brought home a bunch of plants in muddy pots and simply removed the trunk mat, sprayed it down with a hose, dried it off, and put it back. Then yesterday, my kid got a new water bottle he didn't lock the lid for which spilled all over the back mat on the way to school. The ridged baffles kept the water from spreading when stopping for traffic and making turns. Everything stayed confined to the mats and I just wiped it up with a towel when I got back home vs trying to dry out the interior carpet.
Do they smell!? I bought some weather-tech mats, they made the car smell like a trash bag, I put up with it, expecting the rubber/plastic smell to go away, after 4 months I got rod of them :/ Go away, 4 months later, just as strong,

The form looks great to prevent spillage/leaks. Thanks for the review!

Great video and definitely helped push me towards buying Tuxmat for my Model Y
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.

Thank you for mentioning the huge logo of 3DMaxpider -- you saved me from buying a garish billboard on every floor.
Seriously though! No need to have huge branding like that. Trick is to make it look stock but elevated.
@@reallyMello Agreed, low key is the way to go. As far as feeling goes, I don't like the rubberized feeling of the 3d mats, is this grippy like that?

I use the cabin overheat protection and have tint on everything so haven’t run into that. I also used the plastic tab clips more than the Velcro ones.
@ I wanted a tinted windshield but my state is wildly strict about them. Thanks for getting back to me! Happy new years!

are you able to close the trunk? I've had challenges to close the trunk. thanks for the detailed post!
Yes just make sure you have it seated into the seat back corners all the way in

Doesn’t obstruct them, no.
Thank you so much for your reply. Now my wife has my birthday gift :-)@@reallyMello
seems pretty thick. do they help with road noise at all?
Not that I’ve noticed really
Is the rear mat tucked under the seat?
A touch yes
Has the cargo liner bump went away?
Yes! It flattened out the next day after I unloaded the trunk from a trip to the Lowe's garden center to get some mulch and soil bags.

@@reallyMello Thank you so much again
What about the liner that against the back seat? When you fold the back seat flat is it still in the up position like right now?
It stays up with the seat backs down though it has enough play that if you need to lay something flat it is still possible to do so
How do they install in the back seat? Do they tuck into the back seat or do they just go up over?
They tuck under the seat. It’s a clean fit.

But do they make RHD version 🙏
I think they only serve Canada and US at this time
How slippery are these mats? Also, what happens if an interior detailer is sprayed on them? Thanks

They have been out of stock for a while! Hopefully they get them in soon. I loved my tux mats for my Chevy Bolt.
They should be paying you for this video, don’t know how many bought these mats based on your video, I am going to be one of them
Thanks Pramod! Hope you enjoy the mats. They just saved me from some dusty kid feet and dog fur after a little road trip this past weekend.
I've been waiting to order these for the 7 seater! They said March. 🤞
That’s close!
Question is, when you fold down the back seats for larger cargo, what happens over time with the lip. Seems like it will get wonky pretty early on…
