That of course was Clint and Malpaso. And of course, the limited sound effects of those richocets were all producers for film, TV and cartoons had to go on. But at least they're classic that we remember them for. And even on occasion they're still used for today's productions believe it or not.
@@LBSOfficialBearAll they had to go on?? If they had wanted more realism, there were plenty of gun experts they could've consulted. Still a great movie, though.
this film was so memorable, the crackling of that fire and darkness all around and the villains being taken out one by one , such a brutal classic movie with excellent acting
High Plains Drifter often flies under the radar compared to Clint Eastwood's other classics like Unforgiven and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, partly because it's in that shadow of Eastwood's larger body of iconic work. It's a unique film, blending traditional Western elements with a supernatural, almost horror-like atmosphere, and Eastwood’s portrayal of "The Stranger" brought a dark, enigmatic edge that influenced later antiheroes in the genre. Eastwood also directed the film, and it's among his early directorial work, which set a foundation for the grit and moral ambiguity he would explore in later films. It's likely overlooked because it doesn’t fit neatly into the pure Western or revenge-film mold-its surreal elements and dark, satirical critique of human nature make it a bit more complex than the standard Western. For those who appreciate Westerns with psychological depth and a twist, though, High Plains Drifter really deserves that spotlight.
It was filmed by Mono Lake in The Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains near a small town called Lee Vining, Ca . That's where they got their goods and the paint from. It's 12 miles East of Yosemite
A bunch of men on rooftops with rifles and shotguns cant take out 3 guys with handguns on horseback. People in those days who lived in a desolate place like that had to be pretty tough. Not a bunch of wimps. Not very believable.
The producer bought the economy size bulk package of ricochet sounds. 😂

Can't leave out *"The Outlaw Josey Wales,"* one of the finest westerns ever made, also directed by Eastwood.
It's my favorite ghost story on film. He learned a lot from Kurasawa.
I just saw this last year never heard of it before. I think it's great.
@@tntltl It's a genuine classic.
Kudos to the stuntmen at 0:52 and 1:00, they earned their money on this film.
In my opinion, the best movie Clint Eastwood ever made.
Trivia: the ringleader, Stacey Bridges, was played by Juliette Lewis' father.
Damn, that whipping scene. Brutal.
Why did the rest of the gang just wait there listening to it without even looking outside?
He was the ghost of jim duncan. In the end you see him riding away and then dissappear
The Stranger was the reincarnated Sheriff that the outlaws whipped to death & no one in the town helped. 😱
Amazing how many times those six shooters can shoot without reloading.
Great movie!
Those ricochet's, they go on forever 😅

They didn't defend anything😂
Did anyone else ever wonder why this little town in the middle of nowhere just happen to have enough red paint on hand to paint every building?
The red comes from blood.
It was used as a tint, so they were not blindingly white
It’s a movie! Who cares lol 😂 enjoy😉
I'll explain....The Gentleman who had the paint later moved to Tennessee and became famous with his red paint...
"See Rock City"
The paint came from the Rocky Mountains😂
"I never did know your name". / "Yes you do".
"Take care."/"Yes, sir, captain!"
Great movie.
Where was even Clint Eastwood when the bandits first came in shooting at the town?
He rode out into the sunset.
@@roseymalino9855is a Hollywood thing!
John...... On the fucking toilet 😄
He let them terrorize the townspeople since they kept quiet when he was whipped to death.
He was at the trailer getting his makeup on.
Skwint like Clint.
I’m always puzzled at the end after the second guy is hung you hear a soft voice say help me . I’m trying to work out who that is
Geoffrey Lewis, the heavy who gets gunned down by Eastwood in the street, is the father of actress Juliette Lewis.
I wondered where I'd seen that face! Geoffrey Lewis. I'll be damned.
so many from the every which way but loose cast
He was behind the camera
They came to pay the town red, but they were too late…
Who is the dark-haired girl standing beside Mrs. Belding? She's really pretty!
U have good eyesight.
Melody's dad took 3 for the Gipper.
There called never loads
Who are you?
Who, who. Who, who.
This film featured a great performance by midget Billy Curtis.
