I'm in California, and I didn't know it either until I got sent to Kansas City for my job in the dead of winter, right before they had an ice storm hit. The gas station on the same parking lot as my hotel had them, so I bought one. I've still got it.

This would be quite instructive to play here in New Mexico. It snows so seldom that people don't know how to drive with it on the road let along know how to get it off their car. Most probably don't have one of those brushes. If you have ever had snow from another car hit your windshield it can be startling and every time it happens I end up thinking I am going to have to replace it.

As a 14 year old boy that lives in New York and always sits in the passenger seat, I agree with this sarcastic weatherman. It pisses me off when my dad is driving me to my moms house at 9 pm on the highway and the car in front of us has snow on the top of their car and hits our windshield because it’s dark, we go fast, and it’s extremely dangerous and scary. I was always taught to start at the top, since if you do it after you do the sides, alot of it will simply fall on what you JUST cleaned off, (the sides, front and back). So, while I get the sarcasm, still recommend doing a quick brushing of the top, doesn't have to be perfect, but definitely start there. Stay safe. Love y'all.

Haha, sadly it wouldn't make much difference. Most people who don't do it, won't because they are lazy and being responsible is a lot of work, I guess 😁.
Also, to help ease some of this, put trash bags over your windows. Turn the wipers on and then turn the car off with them in the up position. Lift the blades up, place the trash bag over the window, and then place the blades back down. Also place gallon sized bags or small trash bags around your side mirrors and secure them with yarn or rubber bands. This helps if you don't have a side mirror defrost. I know it's not much, but it does help. I live in the TN, so it's easier to improvise with regular household items rather than buy stuff you'll only use once every few years, even though we've had some serious snow and ice spells recently. Also using a broom will get the snow off the hood and top quicker, especially if you have an SUV.

It is not a skit. FOX 2 News is based out of Detroit, MI. As a Michigander, there are an insane amount of people who actually cannot clean their car of properly. Off script is when they accidentally say something true that goes against the narrative. If this was off script the producers would have cut the feed and had the anchor come up with a lame excuse.
It's FOX. It was meant as earnest instruction to the normal audience and contemptuous indignation and chiding to all others.

I was always taught to start at the top, since if you do it after you do the sides, alot of it will simply fall on what you JUST cleaned off, (the sides, front and back). Also, to help ease some of this, put trash bags over your windows. Turn the wipers on and then turn the car off with them in the up position. Lift the blades up, place the trash bag over the window, and then place the blades back down. Also place gallon sized bags or small trash bags around your side mirrors and secure them with yarn or rubber bands. This helps if you don't have a side mirror defrost. I know it's not much, but it does help. I live in the TN, so it's easier to improvise with regular household items rather than buy stuff you'll only use once every few years, even though we've had some serious snow and ice spells recently. Also using a broom will get the snow off the hood and top quicker, especially if you have an SUV.
