I quite new to your channel/podcast, only have been watching for a few weeks. I simply wanted to say thank you for your historical education and information you share so frequently!👍😊 I'm not a big reader, all my 67 yrs I've struggled with dyslexia, and have always had a difficult time concentrating when trying to read anything. I've noticed that you apologize often for yourself if you aren't concretely certain of a particular subject, but I really appreciate the time you have dedicated in your young life to share with us, the things you have learned or are learning. As I would otherwise not know nearly the interesting information of church history. I don't know how long you have been doing this channel, but I wish I'd found it sooner!

I always thought of onyx as black, but upon researching, it comes in all colors! So those walls are onyx! Beautiful! Thanks Jared for your interesting little nuggets!
I have had to go the administration building twice. It was a very interesting experience both times.
If I am correctly informed, Thailand Valley Temple is the first temple authorized by President Monson. President Monson,accompanied by President Eyring dedicated it. The waterfall painting is of a site on Ash Creek, in the Pinaleno range, or Mt. Graham, which lies to the south of the temple. Whe President Monson saw the painting, he said that he wanted it to hang in his office, and that a copy would hang in the temple until his death, at which time, the original would be returned to the temple. It took a few years after President Monson’s death before the painting returned.
20:56 it also makes me think of the twelve tribes and how the Lord describes the four directions he wants them to camp, Dan in the North, Ephraim and Manasseh in the west, etc

President Monson spent his growing up years in Provo Canyon. There are two waterfalls up there. I wonder if it’s bridal veil Falls or Stewart Falls up behind Sundance in Provo Canyon.

The weird thing about the tribes people don't think about. Since women are rarely mentioned. In the 10 tribes, daughters are just included in their father's tribe. But Joseph may have had daughter's. So they would not be either Ephraim or Manassas. We DO know Jacob had at least 2 sons and Abraham had at least one other son besides Issac. So it makes sense that some people are assigned to different tribes that we don't think about. All that matters is that we are either born to a descendant of Abraham or are adopted in.
The waterfall painting, I recognize from many temples. I've had the privilege of visiting 46 Houses of the Lord thus far, and I pay close attention to the special artwork they place within. Many temples feature unique pieces used exclusively in the temple, yet there are several recurring ones. Among these is the waterfall painting you mentioned. If memory serves me right, the most recent temple where I saw this particular painting was the Layton Utah Temple, where I performed ordinances. Some temples also house a number of original paintings, adding to their sacred beauty.
Next time I spot that painting, I will look more closely at the painter's signature and return and report.
We have a waterfall in the mural of the first ordinance room in the Fresno, California Temple. I look at it and think of the symbolism of the water that was once snow that melted that is flowing into the waterfall and down the river. It brings to mind, all things that are past, present, and future.

A friend of mine recently attended her stake conference where a member of the area presidency presided. She said he told them there is an increase in other tribes coming through patriarchal blessings right now. Exciting times 😊
It sounds like commandments that are kept may not be accomplished because of many factors but intentions to do so needs to be sincere and with true intent.

The Lord Loves Effort!
The design and intent of commandments is to give direction and something to adjust your compass to, a point on the horizon. These things take time to reach. Oftentimes I think we as Latter-Day saints skew the meaning of commandments because we are told we are to keep the commandments. The issue originates from the idea of what it means to "keep" the commandments. Keep has a different meaning/context here, it means to preserve them, not move them from their position in our lives just because we can't measure up sometimes. You can see all around us many want us to change the commandments to make them feel better about the choices they are making but because we have the charge to keep the commandments we cannot move the standard or society crumbles and dies. That is why it serves as the basis of the covenant path.
