Okay, youtube is being weird so im sorry if this is a double post - i just wanted to edit lol... I'm a lesbian leaning trans woman. I guess I'm pansexua by strict definition, but i gravitate to women socially and romantically to such a degree that I live in a place quite uniquely situated to experience some of the tensions being talked about. It's so hard to disentangle my own nature from conditioning - the feelings I feel towards women are deeply sapphic, not strictly sexual, but the external perceptions, pressures, from patriarchy and who knows what else - that imposes its will on me and partners via conditioning, are intense. It's really difficult to be queer and sapphic in a world that only conditionally, unevenly acknowledges my identity. At this point I'm almost deeply defensive of it. When I feel like my identity isn't being respected or i'm not being seen through that lens, I tend to pick fights. It has been so hard for me to get here on an emotional and mental level - where i'm even comfortable finding partners I actually want to be with - and it has been so hard fought there are just times where people, being antagonistic or just not understanding, get my third degree over it. You've got me thinking about all of that, so thank you. I usually kinda just don't have the mental headspace for queer theory, but I think I need to sink my teeth into Adrienne's work based on your summary.
