  • What Really Happened to Final Day of The first Rolling Stones Brian Jones?
Brian Jones (1942-1969) was an English musician and a founding member of the Rolling Stones. He was known for his multi-instrumentalist skills, particularly his proficiency on the guitar, harmonica, and various exotic instruments such as the sitar and marimba. Jones was also known for his flamboyant and charismatic stage presence and his contributions to the band's early sound and image. Despite his initial creative and commercial success, Jones struggled with substance abuse and personal issues, which eventually led to his departure from the band and his tragic death at the age of 27.

Ironically, Under My Thumb ruled in an era when being sexist was totally sexy. A couple of decades later, when the creativity gave way to touring the oldies, I can just see Jagger studying the catalogue and being forced to nix a whole slew of misogynistic masterpieces: Under My Thumb, Stupid Girl, Backstreet Girl, Factory Girl, etc. etc. etc. that would've rightly fanned the ire of a significant portion of the concert-going fan base. @@kevinkhoy7171 As far as orchestration, strings and other embellishments, yes. Plus The Stones used great producers as well. Don’t be fooled by Andrew Oldham. He made some great suggestions. Jimmy Miller and Chris Kimsey as well. Mick, Keith & Brian (Wyman, Taylor, Wood and Watts as well), all contributed to the arrangements, but mostly, and it will probably hurt the Jones fans, it was Keith who led the way in the studio. Plus he wrote most of the music. Jones made the songs more interesting, but they were mostly Keith’s babies. They then needed arrangers and producers to carry it out from the studio and onto record.

Brian was the author of his own demise. A brilliant musician for sure but was a jealous, petty person who could turn nasty. He got numerous women pregnant and took no responsibility. He was abusive towards some of them. He tried to get more money as the "leader" of the group. He was very jealous of Mick and Keiths song writing skills, of which he had none. He also became disenchanted with the guitar once Keith's skills surpassed him and took to playing all the other odd instruments just to get on a song somehow. He was very unreliable in the studio after the drugs started hurting him. In fact he was busted for drugs so many times he couldn't tour with them. At the time of his death the Stones had been off the road 3 years and needed to go back out there. He was dragging them down. So while its true he had a major hand in creating the Stones, fact is he was not pulling his weight by 1969. All for self inflected wounds. I respect him as a great musician though.

Paul Trynka had one mission: To stand up for Brian and give the impression he was the target for a setup between Oldham, Jagger & Richards.
The book was written ‘in revenge’ to Keith’s book, were he told Brian was an unreliable person, taking drugs and no functioning and be able to contribute.
To Trynka, everything Brian did that led to his downfall, was a reaction of something nasty done to him. In other words, Brian was a poor soul who was led into addiction because he was ‘betrayed’.
Nothing suggests Brian Jones was simply a bastard and more or less just a sociopath.
Today, the result is some kind of cult on the internet, that speculates Jones was ‘the real genius’ in the band and Jagger / Richards were talentless wannabee’s, even imitating and stealing from Jones. Of course, the ‘murder’ speculation and the conspiracies adds to the fascination as well.
The Jones-fans are typically two kinds of people: Boomers still ‘in love’ with him, denying his faults and trying to convince younger people.
Younger people, trying to be ‘hip’ in their beliefs, because Jones is dead, and thereby it’s easier to project the ‘saint’-icon onto Brian.
It’s hilarious and so out of touch with reality as it can possibly be.
I guess we will have to wait till Jagger and Richards leaves us, before it will balance out somehow.

Here is the story that is told by insiders about Brian's death. Brian had a considerable influence in the experiental direction taken by the band in the late 60s. Two albums reflected this: Satanic Majesty and Beggars Banquet. But they did not sell well and the record company insisted that the Stones return to their earlier rock style. Brian opposed this. So the rest of the Band decided to kick him out before the massive Hyde Park concert. Secretly they recruited MickTaylor six weeks before the concert and rehearsed with him, which is why he was able to perform all of the Stones numbers at the concert just days after Brian's death, which we all thought very odd.
Meanwhile, Mick Jagger is supposed to have visited Brian at his home to tell him he was out of the band and would not be performing at the Hyde Park concert, and Brian killed himself that night. Mick had a reputation for being ruthless in business matters.

Let's get it straight...He broke his hand attempting to punch Anita in the face in a drunken rage. His fist glanced off her face and hit a metal window frame. Keith rescued her away from her abuser and had a long term relationship with Anita that produced three very loved children.
Jones had at least six children by as many young girls whom he abandoned and denied support to. They grew up without a father mostly in poverty while he enjoyed the lavish, self indulgent life of a multi millionaire pop star.
Jones was a horrible person and nothing to worship.

@@kevinjoseph517 When Jones refused to support Linda and his son Julian she was desperately poor and she had no recourse. Brian had begun living with her when she was only 15 and he was 20. Linda met Donovan and they fell in love. Julian was the only one of of Brian Jones' children who did not have to grow up fatherless and destitute. Donovan eventually married Linda and adopted Jones; son.
What kind of a piece of shit man would do that to his own flesh and blood offspring and why the hell would anyone worship him?
This one reason I insist that Jones had to be a psychopath and a clinically insane narcissist

He doesn't seem to have enjoyed the "lavish, self indulgent life of a multi millionaire pop star" for very long, or very much. He was a broken man and only 27 when he died and had only been a star for about 6 years.

Jones killed himself with his booze and drugs. Had he not drowned that night he didn't have much longer to live with the condition of his mind, his dangerously enlarged heart, his 2X swollen liver and his lungs in the final stages of asthma and emphysema.
