Unfortunately, most Tekken fans DESPISE Dead or Alive. I hate to say this as a DOA fan, but don't be surprised if most people dismiss your opinion just for that. We get a lot of flak just for existing.
It’s because a lot Tekken fans have a hard on for men and don’t like girls in their game. A lot of them don’t like the waifu style of fighting and calls anybody who plays them gooners. TMM is the biggest example of this mindset.
i wouldnt even mind parry system since everybody can just parry 90% percent of steves moves anyways. Others could get a taste of how it is to play steve lol.
I dont think yall understand. Its really simple. Video games have officially become a global spectator sport. Watching a game where characters are constantly gyrating and shuffling (korean backdashing) looking for a whiff punish the entire match is simply not appealing for spectators.
You do realize that t7 tourneys were watched more than t8 currently, right? The people that were watching these tournaments were the hardcore fans and they're pretty much uninterested in the game now.
@@Hiddenschmeatvillage T7 tournaments were watched more due to the peak of COVID-19, as well as an unpredecented series of memorable events such as Rangchu's panda run or Pakistani's scene blowing up. "Watched less" is a relative term too, as T8 isn't exactly lacking on viewership (TWT2024 actually broke the events' watchtime record).
For tekken 8 add a meter for heat. So you have to earn it. But the meter only fills while your actively in combat. Connect the rage arts to the meter as well so people have to choose heat or rage arts. Either increase everyones health or reduce the combo damage. The 50/50s need to be looked at across the board. They need to make people earn these things and actually have to fight... use neutral.
Combos doing mostly recoverable health damage is how they've nerfed combos in this game compared to 7. Low pokes take recoverable health away. All pokes only do real damage (no recoverable health damage)
Yea i see that. But I don't think it helps. But maybe that's the point. I just miss actually fighting. Not that 7 was the greatest. But there was some fighting happening in that one. This smash bros style is just not for me.
@@ASHURAHEN are you just tired of life that you just wanna get bodied by guys who just wanna beat the living bejesus out of each other or your just looking for an excuse to be stepped on by Nina , Anna or Lily?
t8 gameplay is quite sad. The game is only enjoyable when you fight somebody who knows how to play the game and respects you and plays neutral. When someone is just mashing their head into their controller forcing plus frames and 50/50s all match it’s just not fun.
I come from DOA and SC casual player who grew up playing Ninja gaiden which btw, does not use weapon in DOA. I really liked the system from DOA but unfortunately it could not outweigh its lack of content, player base, online playability, monetization and the nerf in sidestep. When I switched to Tekken 7 (because there was not other alternative for PC) I could not believe it did not have frame data, practice mode also it took me months to find a main but overtime I adjusted (had free customization) and got used to the crappy netcode and played until it became Leroy only game and got fed up. I am afraid that Tekken 8 is taking the same path again. The thing about monetization is that they try to implement from other free to play game while you have to pay full price for the game. Its either you charge for the game or make it free and cash out with skins and other cosmetics.
As a lili main on my channel to another lili main :) Hi! And yes you are right about a lot of things. When you are blocking and jailed it sucks not being able to do much. Lili I love when I fight Steve's who are jailing lili as I just use her b13 parry and its so much fun to throw them off and make them scared to punch as Steve's attacks are punches:) Can't wait for tekken update with the search player option means content creators can now play super easily so let's all have many lili mirror matches and fun together :)
The hold system in Dead or Alive is quite effective and works well for that game. If Tekken adopted something similar, it might make the game feel too similar to DoA, though. Tekken used to have strong defensive play, thanks to its smooth and responsive movement, particularly in Tekken 5. The issue is that if they were to buff movement now, they would need to rework a lot of strings, as many would become completely ineffective. While Tekken 5 had good movement, some players found high-level matches to feel a bit repetitive, though similar arguments can be made about Tekken 8. Would you like to see movement similar to Tekken 5 return? Also, Feisty Rabbit 3 is -13 because its start-up animation is not only reactable, but it also requires Feisty Rabbit stance. If you hit her while she’s in Feisty Rabbit, you get a float, as oki tho yeah it is good however you can spring kick 🤭
Bruh there isnt anynother 3d fighter so idk what you're trying to talk about. Virtua fighter is going to fail just like when they tried to come back with vf5. Tekken is doing something right where all of the non existing 3d fighters have already failed.
Just a quick nitpick I assume ur talking sc5 with impact costing meter. Every other version of impact is free but 6 is my fave iteration of it cause a lethal break attack read puts the fear of god into someone. I personally hated in 5 when it cost meter
@chrisbarrett6029 yes I was referring to 5. I have actually never played another SC game because I was too young to play 4, 5 came out at the perfect time, and I missed out on 6 (mostly due to the negative press at the beginning of the games life cycle). I would love to see SC7 or whatever the sequel to 6 would because I didn't love SC5s meter system but like SC gameplay in general!
I can't say I agree with your main points. I think Heat Burst ultimately is the mechanic you're asking for, but unfortunately with the jank that comes from Tekken's 3D stuff, it can be frustrating dealing with some of the shit that comes flying your way. But that's kind of always been a constant in Tekken's history, especially once walls became a factor. I don't think this is a failing in Tekken 8's part, because the thing it's attempting is not at all the same thing DoA, VF, or Soul Cal are going for. I think a large obstacle that's affecting players is the mentality they have when going into T8 and breaking habits that have become hardwired into them after such a long time spent with T7 season 3/4. Heat as a system has many uses for getting you out of a tight spot, from stopping pressure, to also getting health back from multiple avenues like normal hits, dashes, and engagers, but the way many engage with hit is only by thinking about it as purely an offensive tool for maintaining pressure
@christopherLrat sure, i understand. I just kinda disagree. I don't have t7 conditioning because I did not enjoy that game; I am just a defensive player. Everything in heat is geared for aggression. You gain health back from attacking, and you gain health back from hitting a great engager. The defensive boost (of healing) is only accomplished through offense. Yes, I gain health from a defensive whiff punish, but it's difficult to even get a whiff punish when half of the characters' gameplan is to stay go glued to their opponent. I would like for the defensive and offensive mechanics to interact more rather than just being benefited for doing offense
i do think a sort of heat reversal system akin to street fighter 6’s drive reversal would go a long way. however, everything discussed in this video is fairly disingenuous. tekken has never had any “universal defensive option” other than rage art before. it’s incredibly unfair to compare the way tekken 8 handles aggression and defensive mechanics compared to other game series that have been working on their universal defensive mechanics for years. tekken 8 hasn’t even been out for a whole year (and might i remind you, tekken 7 had over a year’s worth of patches from its release to its console launch). not to mention, rage art IS a universal reversal tool, yet it is complained about at every junction because it’s “scrubby” or its “for mashers”. i also find it funny that you paint overly aggressive mechanics in tekken 8 as being more over the top than every other 3D fighting game, yet virtua fighter is infinitely more aggressive and in your face than tekken could ever hope to be
@ScrodumHat I don't like RA, nor did I say I do. RA is limited to low health only so it is fundamentally different from the system I described. The point isn't that we should import that system to Tekken but that Tekken 8 doesn't have a defensive mechanic
Tekken 8 has been crazy with forced 50/50 and anyone who says it has always been that way must not know the amount of options they had in prior games.
