For me this is worth having said that my drive to work is 11 miles, I can drive either highway, winding hilly road or streets. I currently have a i3 and I’m totally happy with it.

I ride one daily to work each way 40 Km and still have around 20 +/- km left.
The heated seat and handles don’t use up much electricity from what I can tell ( used it on full power level 3 when temps have been around 1 to 3 degrees Celsius here in Germany 🇩🇪
I always use eco mode and hardly ever need to use the brakes due to the regeneration which is 👍
I had pre ordered a Sondors Metacycle for my commute to work but with all the delays and still not available in Europe I cancelled and opted for this. Although more expensive well worth it.
By the way dynamic mode eats into your battery but scarily fast!

I like the concept of an electric scooter. Currently I own a sport scooter Kymco AK550i. I also have the money to buy the CE-04, but several factors are holding me back. As such:
    1. BMW has some serious reliability issues, the previous generation of their scooters had too many issues (electronic and mechanical).
    2. BMW always introduces new models and abandons all previous models (usually 3-5 year cycles), so after a while parts become impossible to find, unless you get them through the dealership network and that is very costly.
    3. There are very few BMW scooters out there and most places don't know how to work on them.
    4. The CE-04 has very limited storage for a scooter. There is very little wind protection.
    5. I also worry that this will be a low volume scooter for the above mentioned reasons.
    6. Out the door this scooter will cost around $15K, that is just too much for 80 miles range scooter.
At the end of the day even though I like the CE-04 if I want to listen to my brain it says "Bad idea, do not buy!"

Love your first impressions. Would love to hear your riding review. I believe there is a fundamental difference in the industry right now with electric Motorcycles/Mopeds/Scooters. It comes down to whether you design the bike to have a removable battery or fixed in place. The benefit of a removable battery is that you can effectively double your range by bringing it into your place of work or apartment and charge while you work or sleep. That being said, removable batteries have less capacity , which requires you to purchase an optional second battery for longer range. The advantage of a fixed battery is that you are seeing larger batteries and longer range. All that being said, I live in MN and I worry about leaving a scooter outside in my detached, unheated garage all winter. I would love the ability to winterize the scooter by removing the battery and bringing it inside to place on a tender during the winter. However, I really would prefer the power and range of a bigger battery. Do you know what BMW recommends for winter storage? Thanks!

  • @J.Harry.T

The claimed range, of this scooter, on a ‘full’ charge is 80 miles. However we are now being told that it is recommended that you do not charge the battery of an electric vehicle to more than 80%, or run it down to less than 20%, as either case is likely to shorten its service life.
So if you use it as recommended you can only actually do 60% of 80miles without re-charging. By my reckoning that gives you a range of 48 miles.
    Good luck with that.
