Craigslist Jeep for sale never been wheeled 😂😂😂😂
When I first found your channel I binge watched a bunch of your videos and remember seeing the first one about the TJ. When you talk about getting a JK it reminded me of where you started "Buying The Cheapest Jeep Wrangler TJ 4.0 In The Country!" Shes come along way and is not the cheapest TJ anymore! But hey shes Big Bird and she is what she is. Its been educational for you and a great show for us. Thanks Man!
Thanks man means a lot! Big bird is a classic staple on the channel now lol
Hey buddy
Try to do something to support the 2 fenders, when they bend in its allowing the fan to hit the rad. Loving the vids.
Cheers
Sending nothing but good vibes. 👊🏼😎👍🏼
Thanks man
Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. That Jeep sure can take a beating!! Thanks for the great video.
It sure does lol thanks man
Those 4.0s, they may be slow but their built to go, I love mine!
They’re definitely tough as hell
You’re dialogue evaluating the repair cost vs buying a JK and moving on is like you speak for every Jeep owner including me.
It’s all a part of the game lol
JK’s are complete garbage
I'd avoid '07 and '08 with the 3.8 minivan engine. It isn't known for being reliable. the 3.6 and the 4.0 are both better.
A jeep is a jeep and if ya hammer on them your always gonna spend a week fixing for a day of wheeling. The only benefit of something newer is less age related problems to sort through. Those JKs have their own set of problems to contend with just like a TJ or CJ does. Good luck with it. I have two 79 cj7s (one broken and one parts cj lol) and an 05 LJ with only 20k and I'm still wrenching a lot. Jeep life ain't cheap life unfortunately..
what do you doi for a living
Used to be a mechanic now I’m a sales rep for an industrial supply company
Jeepus brokus. lol. Schmokin' Munkee did it again. Great entertainment. I think I need to get out wheelin' in a week or two, but first gotta put my control arms in along with my new adjustable shocks. I'd invite the crazy canadian, but He might break my jeep. hahahahahaha
Lmao 🤣
Had a guy approach me two weeks ago with a 2010 hummer h3 alpha wanting to trade straight across for my Jeep TJ , I was took it for a ride and loved the ride etc on the hummer , we were supposed to make the deal the next day and after thinking about everything I backed out , just could not let my old TJ go lol
It’s hard to let go of a jeep and I don’t think the hummer will last as long as the TJ
Yep--you are spewing fluid. First thing I saw when I was watching video before I even knew you had trouble on the trail. Look in the front of the Jeep just below the left and right tire on the rock in the footage starting around 3:12 to 3:22. Two or more nice sprays of radiator fluid on both sides of the jeep leaving a good trail on the rock and dirt below.
Good eye!
Overheating can, blow the headgasket, warp/ cracked the cylindehead....oil dripping.
Take the Forrest access roads.....way more fun.
Do nice overnight camping....the good stuff that doesn't cost dollars and trouble.
I love the hard trails lol gotta pay to play I guess
@@SmokinMonkeyOG
I understand the feeling. Seeing your vehicle outperform your expectations is awesome.
I might be wrong but I think the engine was so hot that the fuel was causing a double detonation or pre detonation in the pistons and now that it’s cooled it won’t tick and it’ll throw the timing off a bit
Honestly I threw a rad in there and it’s running good lol but it definitely was pre detonating
Terrible decisions make for quality family programming!
Can’t argue there lol 😂
No offence, that thing is a pos. Used engine from a buddy, what did you expect. Time to get rid of that curse
I totally agree it’s a POS but I didn’t get the engine from a buddy lmao far from it. The engine is solid, unlike the rest of the jeep.
I bet if u beefed up the rad supports n the metal bars going from the grill to the fire wall it would probably stop your front from flexing like it's hulk hogan
I beefed up the support after the last rad haha but it was the ice this time because I checked it after this trip and it’s still solid and doesn’t move at all
Great video as usual. I was seriously hoping that after that differential repair that you’d be able to enjoy wheeling for a bit without repairing something. Nope! I had a cursed XJ a long time ago, I feel your pain. Hitting the like button and looking forward to the next one!
Haha thanks man! It was actually not too bad of a repair this time around
Another great video. Sorry to see that Big Bird needs more repairs. The fix and repair daily syndrome forced me to ditch my 2010 JK for a Gladiator. You and your friends have a blast wheeling. Thanks for the honest footage. Too many other channels are staged footage. Keep up the awesome content. Best of luck getting the repairs done economically. Looking forward to the next adventure along with your Gladiator build.
@user-ih6jk5ss4k thanks man! And yes I do plan to do the same and ditch the tj eventually but I don’t want to trash the gladiator for now because it’s not built. Needs more clearance for the trails around here. But it will come. Always gotta keep it real because being fake is too much work lol
I hate to say I told you so, but the last time you overheated, I told you it sounded like it was predetonating and I said it was lucky you didn't melt down a piston. This sounded very similar again. Hope you didn't wreck it permanently. I know its a beater tho - if you need a new motor again i would consider throwing up some kind of armor over the rad ... Who cares if its ugly
I already threw a rad in and it’s running good lol what can I say this thing doesn’t want to die
@@SmokinMonkeyOG it's impressive I'm not gonna lie lmao
Right!
i litersally have an offroad jeep and i have never had the amount of isssues you have had threwout the years is anyone you know with a tj saying the same thing just seems like so much is going wrong
No most people I know only go out a couple times a year. If you go out every week like me it’s very hard on the jeep. My jeep was also neglected and never maintained properly through its entire life before I got it so I’m just trying to keep it together at this point
I was thinking that your grill is loose rescued the mount and check fender bolts your grill is moving into fan as well ice got in there
It’s not. I checked it multiple times after this trail and it’s solid
I hear yeah on the bugs dude, black flies, horse flies and mosquitoes.
It can get really bad in the summertime for sure. Makes you appreciate the cooler weather.
Great videos definitely hard core wheeler. Loving the channel
Thanks!
Maybe check the seals. Something just might have came loose. Then rad might have heated it up to blow the seals.
Should we start a go fund me for the cottage? Turn it into an AB&B to buy jeep parts
That would be amazing lol
Love that your girl loves nature and wheelin wish mine did.
It definitely helps
Can you guys not have high mount fender seems like I’ve not seen a Jeep on your videos that have em ?
I’m actually putting a set on my jeep this weekend but I think most people don’t do it because they cost quite a bit
Damn. Seized engine. Sorry dude. Oh nice guess it’s not seized.
Electric fans would stop engine/rad contact. Great video
Yeah, but I’ve seen them shatter as soon as you hit the water on water crossings
If the head gasket was bad the foam would be in rad murky like. But if the fan put a hole in the rad can be over heated the motor blew a seal. I seen that happen before
Oil from the valve cover since you got it so hot it's smoking and leaking
Yup! I think it got hot and metal expanded to create a small leak because it’s not leaking now after it cooled off for whatever reason
Yo bro, we need some shirts that say “Got Rad? Dak Dak Dak Dak Dak”
Hahaha don’t kill me! That would be good
It happens! The rings are all swelled up. See if it seals back up.
So far after she cooled down it’s running fine actually lol
pretty good show you got going im looking forward to watching more
Thanks man
Had to subscribe! Great video ! ✌️👍👍
Thanks man!
Big Bird is a legend 🙌🏽
RIP. But thank goodness it ain’t your primary vehicle! I took my Bronco out on Hogsback in February and boy does the vehicle take a beating as it breaks through the ice. Fingers crossed it is back up and running in no time!!
Thanks man! I’ll be heading to hogsback once we get some more snow for sure lol and I got her running again
I like wheeling Saturday to so if I break something I can hopefully fix it so Monday I can get to work. 😂
I don’t drive it to work lol 😂 that would definitely make it more interesting though
sounds like the timing is off on your engine, sorry time to sell it
Already put a rad in it and is running fine lol
Check the water pump, I bet it's shot.
I replaced it 3 months ago with a brand new one but I’ll take a look
Bad motor mounts can cause fan to go into radiator, fyi
Ya I’ve been thinking the same thing
I would find a tj that hasn't been abused by the previous owner like big bird was, I think that's a major part of your issue
I’m not disagreeing with you there
@@SmokinMonkeyOG it'll most likely be more expensive than big bird was, but you'll save that money in not having to do repairs as much
@@SmokinMonkeyOG I would also definitely recommend giving all the sensors a good cleaning
Motor mounts….
Again you can add the front plate to the tj.
Everything you need to know about this video is explained starting at 1:48!
Epic video, buddy. Love your stuff.
Keep sending it!
Thanks man!
5th radiator seems like a big problem to me that needs to fixed not replaced
I’m currently rebuilding all the floors and body mounts to fix this. Check out my most recent videos and you’ll see the project progress
@@SmokinMonkeyOG let’s gooooo
Where did you get those seat belts from
Seatbeltplannet.com
To be honest you are a little hard on the ol' TJ Maybe keep it and start to build it. Stronger axles would be high on my list.
I do want to build it but it’s nice having having a beater that you can be rough with and not worry about it getting damaged. I have the gladiator to keep nice lol this one is for having fun
@@SmokinMonkeyOG it could still be a beater just with stronger parts that won't break as easily.
@jasontaylor9871 I agree
Sounds like a water pump
Definitely could be but it’s been replaced already this year
You may try to switch to an electric fan this time? I don't say it fix everything but the plastic blades have less chances to hit the rad since the fan is locked with the rad.
The only problem is once you go through water crossings you have a chance of shattering your fan
How the big bird repairs going?
Got her fixed up and ready to go
I would check the oil to see if there’s water in the oil. It got so hot you may have warped or cracked te head.
Ya definitely a possibility for sure
I say this with all due respect, but that's the first thing anyone thinks of that has ever opened a bonnet. It's blatantly obvious it *could* be that (in many engines) but I live in a climate where the temp regularly exceeds 40c and had three different failures to the cooling system in the 4 litre - each time it will boil it's tits off, ping to high heaven, so I wait a while and rinse and repeat. Once theres nothing left as I can't sacrifice drinking water I just keep doing the same. I've run it with zero coolant like this and though it took me 2 hours to get home I still did. Any other engine I would never be so careless but with the 4ltr I just don't care.. it's never cracked a head (which is mainly an aluminium head issue not an iron head with iron block issue to begin with) and would probably run on anything from tar to olive oil for lubrication.
Ya I’ve checked and so far it’s still good. No leaks now that it cooled down and no coolant where it shouldn’t be (like in the oil)
dont get any newer than a 2011 jk
Never been a fan of them, but I absolutely hate the interior on the early ones
Ice. It’s beautiful. Trying to keep the good vibes. That’s why I’m no fan of winter wheeling. But it is fun times
Winter wheeling is my favourite but I prefer deep snow over ice
@@SmokinMonkeyOG that does make a difference.
Awesome video !
Thanks man
It may be time for a L S swap.
That would be awesome
Beautiful krawl up that rock wall. I like the jku guys style.
He’s a very good driver for sure. Can’t wait to see him challenge himself some more out on the trails
I think it’s time for a jeep upgrade 😂 that poor fucker has been trying to die for the last year and you keep bringing it back!
I can’t wait for loads of snow in New-Brunswick!!
You’re telling me lmao 😂 I can’t wait for some actual snow here too
@@SmokinMonkeyOG hahaha right!!
I’m in Toronto for work right now and we got a bit of snow overnight but not much!
haha quite the eventful trip! keep it up bro, can't wait to see what's next
Thanks bro!!
At that point i would just swap to electric fans
Problem with electric fans is that they’re usually plastic and as soon as you go into a water crossing they shatter
@@SmokinMonkeyOG oh I forgot about that problem my new off-road rig a 05 f150 so that’s why I forgot the fans set so high up
@@SmokinMonkeyOG Keep an easy switch and turn it off while water crossing.
Did you check the motor mounts?
Yup, a bit worn but they don’t move much at all
@@SmokinMonkeyOG all the same, since you aren't like to get much for the yellow bird, I'd turn it into a trail buggy little by little. Find a spot to park it up north near the trails, keep it semi street legal and use your Gladiator to commute.
If you find a spot to keep her up north, let me know as I want to do the same with my TJ. Mine is in better condition, actually fantastic still, but I'd rather commute in something else back and forth.
Get a Toyota lol
To get a Toyota to do what I want it to will cost me more than buying 2 jeeps and I can’t stand the interiors on them. Horrible and outdated design.
Another good video Mike I had to put my coat on to watch you it looks cold
It definitely wasn’t warm lol
@@SmokinMonkeyOG went back then look some of your Snow Trails I like that the best we don't have that kind of snow down here you're lucky I guess LOL
I feel the same way when I watch videos of guys in the desert
@@SmokinMonkeyOG bought me a 12,000 lb Badland winch at Harbor Freight on sale are they worth a crap Mike
I’ve seen a couple people with them and nobody has said anything bad about them that I’ve heard. Should be good
Legoooo
Whooo
First, entertaining wheeling vid as always
Thank you!
exhaust manifold gasket is done, you have a leak so she revs up and down... my bet on that. The fan issue, check if your engine mounts are good still or loose.
lol I put a new rad in and it drives like nothing happened
@@SmokinMonkeyOG you already put another one in since? lol... so what was all the oil? the tick was maybe a lifter
@Driven716 the tick was pre-detonation, the oil was coolant and it’s not doing it any more. I cleaned off the block and head and it’s not leaking. Block got hot metal expanded and it leaked. Now she’s good lol I’ve never seen an engine this tough but it just keeps going
@@SmokinMonkeyOG one of the best no matter what you throw at these 4.0 they just keep going.
@Driven716 ya seems like it
Congrats on hitting 10k……..
Thank you!
Slow n steady wins the race.
Doesn’t always make for a good video though hahaha
@@SmokinMonkeyOG that’s understandable I enjoy seeing a Jeep krawl.
