Concrete Bench vs Bleach - No Contest

- These concrete benches had sat for many years without being cleaned. My friend thought they were past saving. I said let me give it a try. I wanted to try one the easy way and just squirt some dishwashing soap on it and walk away. Maybe it would have worked but I lost patience. And as you'll see in the video it also caused an issue with the bench I tried it on.
Anyway, I decided to quit fooling around after a couple of days and hit them both with the hard stuff, Clorox Outdoor Cleaning Bleach. After wetting the concrete benches I poured on the bleach and then scrubbed the concrete with a plastic bristle scrub brush. I wasn't sure if this would get the concrete clean or not. But after scrubbing each concrete bench about 15 to 20 minutes they came out looking great, except for the small issue the dishwashing soap caused.
I've since gone back and had another look at the concrete benches and they look even better than what you see in the video. And that little issue I caused has also faded away. The bleach really does a good job at cleaning concrete.

AFTER APPLYING THE BLEACH WAIT 30 MINUTES THEN RINSE OFF. THANKS FOR THIS EXCELLENT VID!
Lol. Yes, not a complicated procedure but the point was to show if, and how well it would work. Thanks for watching.
I learned from your video and threw my floor cleaning solution (orange oil and bleach) onto the concrete porch for a few weeks. Its noticeably brighter. I may aplly bleach uniformly in an insect sprayer to minimize waste and get an even coat
Good luck with it and thanks for watching
Dawn dish cleaner extra strength does say that etching into concrete is possible, so be aware. Read the bottle. Use cheap detergent. In this case, we see no dish detergent was needed.
Dish detergents are petroleum based, and that is why your letter markings are visible
Out of my experience doing my son's gravestone. D/2 or Wet and Forget. Works for me.
I've haven't tried Wet and Forget but do you think it would produce the same results I got in this video? And how long would it take? I may have to find something and test it out.
@@HWDsouthDIY absolutely. While not immediate, it works on my sons.
I will give it a try next time.
Fifteen to twenty minutes of scrubbing? It wasn't the bleach doing the work it was you !
Yes, I had to scrub but it wasn't that much effort and came out very nice.
@@HWDsouthDIY Was that a wire brush?
After washing my car I use tire shine on, I realized it leaves perfect white spots on concrete for a long time.🤷♂️
Maybe you've found a new concrete cleaner??? Thanks for watching!

I just did my driveway the other day...
I used Colorax Bleach and a wide long squeezy and let the Bleach do the work.. I did not have to scrub...
Bleach did all the work... Do not add water with Bleach..
My driveway is perfect and cleaner.. I was shocked what Bleach did...
Thanks for watching!
Doesn't that bleach splash on your shoes, in the air, in your face?
If you aren't careful, yes. Use only as directed. Thanks for watching
Yall are some goofballs
Thanks for watching!
What does the bleach do to the grass?
Turns it brown for a few days. In this video though no grass was harmed, only weeds. Thanks for watching
Thank you!!
Thank you for watching!
maybe you should have added some water and agitated the dish soap after you poured it on? At least the color impact would have been uniform across the bench, and we could have seen it's cleaning effect.
Possibly but I doubt it would have been a better outcome than the bleach. Thanks for watching
Thanks!
No problem! Thanks for watching
Pressure washer woulda cleaned it in 20 seconds
Also could of damaged the bench especially if it's an aged one also in and out of weather and sun does have its way on things and pressure washer would only get perfectly clean up really close with a small powered gas one no way with electric and still your changing damages even with a 3800 psi or higher you can clean but at RisK especially if it was a wood bench....... Now the Soft Wash Way if known how to do right you could use bleach or an other item sold at most stores also mixed right , it would clean hands downnnn....
@@zackwinslow947 With the right nozzle a pressure washer would make light work of those benches. I have a 12 x 16 concrete patio and concrete walkway that I use my 2800 psi gas powered Ryobi pressure washer for and both comes out very clean with no damage.
