I have a cheap canon pixma...I just recently switched sticker paper and noticed my blacks were MUCH darker and more true black!!! I do a lot of black stuff currently and not as much color, but I definitely noticed a difference by switching paper. (I use a waterproof matte sticker paper)
WHat brand?
Can you print on 8.5 x 11 paper on photo settings???? My cannon absolutely will not allow me to, but I have the TS3122 series.
@@KiaraAlexiss yes! There’s lots of photo options and size options on the 6820. It can print on up to 13x19 borderless
Hi Sara, if the room is slightly more humid than normal, then the HPs will have trouble feeding the paper through, and the rollers need to work harder. You may want to try a dehumidifier for that room. It may help your HPs last longer. :)
That’s definitely something I’m considering! We have a humidity monitor and we’re going to keep an eye on it to see if that’s the issue!
I use a Canon pixma and I haven't had any problems with it. Still working great like the day I got it for more than 2 years ago. I have been using it to make stickers and I haven't had any problems with the colors. ❤️
Do you mind sharing which one you use? And what type of sticker paper? I’m guessing similar to HP, it depends on the model and paper could influence how well the colors appear?
Also, I am following someone on Twitch who has a laser printer and the paper says everything. 💜
My HPs have a ton of issues as well but I've found the quality is the best I've tried. Ive also tried 2 different Canons and 1 brother. I still went back to my HPs. They jam and get silly if I move them around and sometimes work for no reason. But more often they get the job done.
That’s what I’ve found too and why I’ve stuck with the HP’s for this long!
Canon is better
Been my experience that Canon is better than HP in making stickers. The HP that I have tried sometimes(a lot)printer does not recognize the paper sticker. And sometimes doesn't load properly and the print is not correct. Not a big deal if just a plain piece of paper, but vinyl sticker sheets are not cheap. The backload of the Canon always works. One doesn't need to buy an expensive Canon printer either. As long as its one of their printers that have the 5 inks (2 blacks 3 colors). Used to use Canon, switched to HP, went back to Canon.
Clean the rollers and the white rectangles on the underside by the rollers. Removable matte makes those areas really goopy. I have to clean my every couple of weeks (the one that uses removable matte). Good luck!
Printers paralyze me. Lol I'm so worried about getting the wrong ones
Hello.... I have a fine art company, I use two types of printers for large jobs I use the canon Imageprograf pro-4100 and for stickers or small photographic prints I use Canon ImagePrograf pro-1000 both use 12 ink cartridges, if you have the opportunity to buy the pro-1000 do it, you will never see a print as spectacular as with these printers
Hey Sara! I use the HP Envy Pro 6400 Series, and I always make sure it prints on best quality and I make sure that I set the paper type to "Other Matte Inkjet Paper". I have owned a Canon Pixma and it was awful. My colors where washed out too so I decided to switch to HP for rhe quality and the instant ink is a great benefit. I haven't had much problems with my HP printer, the colors are vibrant and I am overall satisfied with it :). Hope you find a printer that works great for you and your shop! Always love watching your videos!💗
What is your printer called?
@@jilene6854 HP ENVY 6455E
@@emileymorrison3323 thank you! ive been thinking about getting a HP printer, I’ll definitely look into this one! ❤️
Does it have a back paper feeder?
@@keriereckards850 no. It has a bottom and top feeder
Did you end up finding a printer you love? I'm looking for one too!
I have a small sticker shop! I just got a canon pixma pro 100 yesterday after using an HP printer (having smearing issues) I spent a few hours last night trying to get the print quality right on canon. When you add the printer to your Mac make sure it says canon IJ network rather than bonjour. That will give you more options to enhance the color quality. Now the quality on my canon is much better than Hp.
Very interesting! Did you have a HP photo envy as well? Do you use removable matte? Just making sure all the other variables are the same! Thanks for the response!
There are several models of the HP Photo Envy printer. Which model do you have? Thank you.
I have an Etsy shop and use an HP printer currently because of the instant ink subscription, it’s been really worth it! But it doesn’t have a rear tray so I was thinking of getting a Canon to use for cardstock
I design and print my own planners,, and client task stickers (I'm a VA). I feel you on the printer stuff. I have an older model HP that is worlds beyond my $450 Epson printer. Same thing, washed out color no matter how much I tweak settings on that Epson. I kept it for a general office needs printer. No help for you, I know, but hey, you're not alone :) I really like my Brother laser printer for documents so I might look at a Brother Color Laser next.
I feel you! I have a 10 year old HP and it’s so amazing! It finally broke and don’t know what to replace it with 😢
I had a ton of issues with Canon connecting, too. Switched to HP because of you and love it! Just personal printing, though.
I know you talked to Canon...have you tried talking to HP to see if they have suggestion of which of their machines would be best for you?
Do you think it could be a Mac/ windows issue? I have both computers and my cheap canon printer prints beautifully when I use my windows computer. When I use the Mac, it’s just a complete nightmare. I recently ordered from a shop that has designs with the most beautiful vibrant colors and they print just like what she posts on Instagram and I know she has a canon. Regardless, I hope you get it sorted out. Honestly anything to do with printers is a nightmare.
It could be! If that’s the case then HP (photo envy) has figured out a work around it because their quality is amazing!
@@SaraMarie Sarah what is the name brand you use on the hp printer?
Love your video! Love your green jacket also! May I ask where it's from? This video totally makes me want to start a sticker business!
I’m glad you did this review! I thought it was me! My Cannon would not match the true color on my Mac.
I prefer a rear loading printer. There is better alignment with that
thanks for the review. I have been looking for a new printer ever since your last video regarding printers.
I use the canon Pixma g1010 series, I've noticed the black looks better in matte paper if I set the paper setting to regular/standard matte, with high quality print not photo matte. unless Im printing on glossy paper I never set my paper to "high quality paper" just the print quality to high. if that makes sense.
I have an epson ecotank 2750 and a mac and I feel your pain. Sometimes its fine but currently am struggling to list multiple sheets as I can't guarantee the quality. I feel like I am missing something within the settings, but even when I use settings that have worked previously it still seems hit and miss 😕 If anyone has any suggestions I'd be very grateful. I've even tries setting my colours to cmyk on both ipad and printer but its not great x
I use an epson ecotAnk 2760 and set it to photo matte and it goes to best and my stickers printer out awesome
Good to know! I’ll keep it in mind when I begin the search again 🙂
I wanted to buy this printer because it's the most affordable one but I'm so scared that it will not work as good as I want it. Have you tried tp use shiny sticker paper with this printer?
I see so many good things about the epson printers. Not sure if that’s one you’ve explored but maybe it would be a better option!
I don’t print stickers, but to make my colours pop and even print close to what was on screen on card from Silhouette I had to change the setting to photo printing then matt photo paper. I have a canon pixma 535 that’s a few years old but still prints well and is fine in standard mode from other programmes, just not from Silhouette! I’m also using windows. :)
I am thinking about opening my shop back up ( non- sticker shop ) , and would really like RTS - How do you figure out how much to keep in stock , look at history or just guess if it is a new product ?
I’m looking to purchase a new printer. Did you find one that works for you?
where did you got your computer desk or adaptation I like how long it is do you have the links? I love it
It’s from ikea! They’re all separate pieces using the Alex drawers!
Can you please recommend a printer that supports rolls of sticker paper
Have you priced a large printer. Like one you find in a office? Maybe even 2. You could print them faster.
I had the same issue with my Canon and black. I love the HP black
HP does sale individual parts would it be easier and more cost effective to purchase the parts or be on a business maintenance plan to where HP comes out and fixes the problems.
I looked into a possible replacement roller head and it doesn’t look like there’s a place to purchase those separately. But I haven’t tried a printer store so maybe there are other options?
I don't know much about printers for stickers , but I am a homeschool mom and print a lot ... I have an EPSON and love it
Which printer do you have?
I know its not stickers, but when I print pictures I've heard really good reviews about the HP and personally use an EPSON printer. EPSON is pretty easy to use but I think the ink is a little expensive and with new EPSON printers there is an ink pad that when it is full the printer quits working. You honestly have me thinking about switching to HP when my EPSON dies.
Have you thought about getting a heavier duty printer?
I have! And my plan is to eventually but I’m trying to find a temporary solution as I do the research. Professional printers are extremely costly and I need to make sure it’s the best solution before jumping in.
@@SaraMarie that makes sense - maybe printer companies will allow a trial period given that it is for business purposes. Your journey has been amazing to watch. I have been watching for since you were in school
@@karvasham that’s for following along this crazy journey 😋 I’m hoping I could at least get some rest prints from a potential printer but I’ll have to do more research and see!
The first time you tried a new printer, I was under the impression that the HP’s were photo quality, but it didn’t appear that the new one was photo quality. Please make sure you are comparing apples to apples as far as machine capabilities?
The next suggestion may be harder to hear. Since you are going through so many printers very rapidly, I fear it is time to talk to HP and find out about a higher production quality unit. Yes, this could cost significantly more. But it may end up being a timesaver as well as a longevity saver. We had a similar problem decades ago with the first computerized calculators were purchased for our accountants to use. They broke very rapidly. When I called and talked to the company that made them, I was told that the model we purchased was designed to be used for no more than 3 hours a day. The level calculators we ended up buying cost 3 times as much as the first model. However, they were still working perfectly when I left the company five years later.
Good luck!
The HP’s that I currently use are in fact photo envy’s so they’re designed to print photos. I believe that’s why the quality is so good.
The canon printers that I mentioned in this video are also advertised to print photos and lots of the reviews and research I did stated that. As I mentioned in the video, I also reached out to canon and spoke with a representative there and the printer they recommended still had the same results.
So as far as I know I am comparing apples to apples but I’m also not a printer expert. I’m simply using the information available to me.
I’m hoping to eventually find a professional printer that is designed for higher quantity of prints but for now I’m trying to find printers that would work in the interim 🤞🏼
that sounds so frustrating and annoying about the printer breaking down ... good luck on your search ... kinda excited to hear an update on your search ... currently on the lookout for a new printer ... I'll share any great updates as well
totally unrelated to this vid but when will be your new releases for October? thanks
Friday!
I actually switched to HP based on your recommendation. I hope you’re able to find a better printer.
Got it for $69 it was so cute and of course so damn great choice
Which one?
What printer do you have now?
Epson Expression Premium Ecotank 7700 is pretty good but won’t work for you because the rear feeder is one by one. Maybe they have a sister printer that might work for you. Make sure that you select the right paper settings when printing. I select premium Matte Photo or something along those lines.
What hp are you using
The tray on my cannon is great but I struggle with the vibrancy of the colors. I have tried tweaking the driver but it’s no where near as bright as my hp office jet printer but the quality on that printer isn’t the best since it’s not a photo printer. I wish I bought an hp photo printer.
BS is so funny. Love the karate chop haha
What sticker paper do you use?
I use removable matte sticker paper
@@SaraMarie brand name? model?
Great Video.
Have you tried to see if there is someone in your area that fixes printers?
I’ve contacted HP about the issues and possible replacement parts and the only option they gave was to send in the broken printer and they’ll send a replacement printer. However the process to get to that point is extremely time consuming and the replacement printer is a used printer that they fixed up so I’m not sure if it’ll be worth doing 🤷🏻♀️
Can you add the links please
I'm late to the party. Just saw your video and it's NOT YOU. I'm having the SAME SAME SAME issues with my Cannon vs HP. Poor quality, difficult connection to wifi on and on.
I’m sorry you are having so many printer problems. I have a canon photo printer as well and the colors are definitely NOT what you see on screen. All the reviews were excellent but the colors not looking like the screen photos frustrates me to no end and is a deal breaker for me. I hope some of the others suggestions are helpful for you!
You also want to make sure that if you’re designing something to be printed, that you set up the document with CMYK color instead of RGB. If you don’t, then the colors won’t print the same as they look on the screen. You might already know this, but if you don’t, then now you do! ☺️
@@Bulletprooftacos hello i was wondering how do you do that? I’m new to this all
100% EPSON!
I have a sticker shop as well and always get the quality of my prints highlighted on my reviews, and the ink is so cheap your profit will increase a ton
That’s great! Which printer do you use?
@@SaraMarie I currently use the ET 2720, I have been using this series for about 10 years and have tried to “step up” my game by trying other printers everybody talks about but I always return them because the quality is not the same. I work with 4 different types of printers (for diff types of stickers) and the EPSON is the one that lasts longer and performs the best. I recommend bestbuy and purchase the protection fee, when it starts printing bad or have any other issue, just take it back and get a new one, it’s the best service ever and they don’t even ask you what’s wrong with it, I have done this with dozens of printers ( I print a lot os stickers) and have never been questioned.
@Sara Marie @@makif668 I agree with you about the ET 2720. I had to play around with the settings to get the best quality print. The ink is amazing. I have been printing tons of stuff since Sept of last year and my ink tank has barely moved and I'm printing full-page color. Eventually, I want to upgrade to the Epson 7700 as it has great reviews.
I heard Epson prints really well, but prints very slow. Is that true?
Why don’t you send out your stickers to a professional printer? I have priced having stickers professional done and over time it saves a ton of money and time. Just a suggestion, I don’t want you to think I’m knocking how you run your shop at all. 😁 It just seems at the volume you’re doing it would save you in the long run, especially with all the issues your having with the printers. I hope you figure it out, and totally understand trying to stay positive when things aren’t working correctly.
You think that a better option?
When you can print your own stickers you have way more freedom and there is no minimum quantity you need to order. So maybe you thought this one design will sell but now you have 50 stickers with it but nobody wants it. So I decided to print them myself. Most printer services want almost 1 euro for one sticker (or a little bit less) so you need to sell them for way more so you can make profit. And I don't know if someone will buy stickers that are more than 1 euro.
speak to plannerface? she uses canon for her sticker shop
I have an Etsy sticker shop and use canons. I can totally DM you on Etsy if you still need help. 😊
What printer do you use
You should have just got to the point my god
Feel free to leave anytime 🙂 this video, as well as my others, are designed for those who enjoy hearing about my day and experience as a sticker shop owner.
