Nice! My wife and I recently lived in San Diego for about 7 months (Normal Heights). We loved all of the choices for things to do, but sooo many people was a lot to handle. La Jolla, Fiesta Island, and Sunset Cliffs were our favorite locations!
I lived on 12th Ave and Hal Greer in the Eighties as a kid. We left in '89 much to my dismay. Since growing up in the Nineties, I have lived coast to coast in the States, Western Europe and Central America - from the tropical rainforest to Wall Street. I can tell you there is not one place I know of that has a more enchanting combination of qualities. Recently I took a road trip from where I live currently in Ohio to good ol H-town. It was with a heavy heart that I saw the house I lived in on Hal Greer, about half a block from Meadows and the Baskin Robbins on the corner, tore down along with the adjoining houses. In the 80s my dad and I lived there. I had the most epic years with my circle of friends. The ringleader of our group lived on Enslow Blvd. We used to walk and play outside at any hour of the day or night without any threat of danger. Gentrification and social engineering will render the small to mid-size cities the new Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York of the second quarter of the 21st Century.
Awesome to hear that this area still has special qualities to it from your perspective, even after being able to compare it to many places over the world! And I think I know the spot you are talking about on Hal Greer when the house has been torn down. There may be a lot for sale over there. Thanks for the comment and Happy New Year!
@@_dickey If you ever want to do a podcast type of interview via Zoom about living in Huntington in the Eighties, hit me up. My email address is on the homepage of my channel. I would love to hear your perspective and story about living there as well. We might even know some of the same families although I really have no idea how old you are. Thank you for the work you are doing! Huntington can have a future that is worth the effort with people like you to help create it.
Good old gentrification. There’s another word with gen. O cide. Of The entire western people. That’s the agenda. But we are the 12 tribes. They don’t get to finish.
Grew up in Huntington. It used to be pretty nice but it’s been hit hard by the drug epidemic. Also, I have my doubts this guy lived in Huntington very long by the way he pronounces the name. No one who lives here pronounces it that way.
I’m hoping to start a new trend in the pronunciation. I’ve lived here all my life except when I left a little for college or seasonal work. But yeah, unfortunately there’s several people struggling in the area with addiction. Hopefully they can get the help they need.
I was Born and Raised in Huntington, Still Live here,To be Honest it depends on where you live at in Huntington, wether it a Good Place or if its a pile of Shit, some parts are Good, but some are a Pile of shit,Drugs are A problem here as everywhere else, but that is the Biggest problem ,Where i Live in the West End of huntington ,its a Pile Of Shit, but other parts not so much, sorry for being blunt about it ,but im being Honest ,

You don't sound like a native and sure don't pronounce huntington the way west virginians do.
im from nyc and i want to leave because its too expensive
@@OluwaShagoon It's generally pretty affordable here, but also income is lower compared to many other places around the country.
I just moved here in May, and I absolutely love it!
@@maverickspirit208 that’s wonderful! Where did you come from?
We went to Marshall University and loved it - Beautiful area - We moved to San Diego Ca / next due to life on the West Coast- / love 💕 WV

The people in the area are great really friendly
I'm glad you think so! I can agree for the most part.
Good one
I loved going to the riverside with my buddy for car meets, fun times.
It’s beautiful over there by the water.

It sounds absolutely delightful to me!
I would love late spring and summer there but the winter I probably couldn't handle
It’s been frigid lately with a lot of ice and snow. I can’t wait for the sun to melt it away :)

I was born & raised here. BTW, the first T in Huntington is mostly silent by locals.
This guy obviously isn't a native or local. We don't talk like he does in this state. It's a dead give away.
I moved here from Sacramento, California just a couple of months ago. My family loves it so far.
Good to hear everyone is loving it so far! I strongly believe you can have a satisfying life here. Cheers!
Home sweet home
My favorite part of small town living is the easy commute around town 😎
ooo. I think I'm with ya. Bummer to bummer traffic moving at a snails pace can be annoying and stressful.
we lived there and had a bookstore in the Frederick Hotel but it wasn't for me. A lot of my relatives still live there.
@@bdwriter1957 Where do you live at now, and are you still enjoying it?
I can believe that.

You'll fit right in.
You might want to double check the median rent price in your relocation guide. 840k a month seems a bit high.😅
lol. Indeed it does seem a bit high. Welcome to the most unaffordable city in the world! :) We will be sure to get that changed. Thanks!
The "T" is silent in Huntington
@@Mustang9831 I’m starting a new thing.
What about Aspergian people? Are they friendly to those minorities?
I don't see why not! :)
The Tri-State is where I choose to live.
Seems like a decent choice! Hope you are enjoying it.
