No doubt that individuals need help; hopefully they get what they need. There are several other videos out there that address these. We even made it on Netflix! :)

It's great how we have so many local artists that were wanting to put their mark on the city by creating a statue. Very nice to have and admire!

@@yellowstone2964 People love to retire in WV; probably because our slow laid back culture. I have actually never been to Oak Hill, but it looks like it is just a little below Fayetteville and the New River Gorge. There will be plenty of outdoor activity if that interests you. Also, a little south is the Tamarack; a great spot for admiring local artisans.

Thanks for the comment. I have thought about doing a video such as "The Top 10 restaurants in Huntington, WV". I wouldn't want to feature any chains, and I am not sure I eat out enough to give a critical viewpoint on the food... but maybe some day.

Hey there. I would say that it all comes down to how you live and spend your money. This video was created to give a comparison of Huntington to other cities people may be considering to live in. I just checked the Zillow site for median rental price, and it appears to be a little higher than when I initially created this video. Still a little over $700 per month for a studio or 1 bedroom apartment. Of course, the location and the quality of the rental will affect this monthly cost.

For the readers: I definitely recommend having a job plan before moving to Huntington or any other city; or bring your own job. Some top employers are going to be Marshall University, the hospitals, and steel manufacturing. There may be some growth in welding and cyber security in the near future.

@@Elizabeth-gt5sk It’s hard to say with how much the weather varies. You may end up with -10 degrees and windy or a mild start to the season where they are struggling to get trails open. Book as late as you can to check the weather and trail status before you go. With that being said, I don’t see anything wrong with December skiing at Snowshoe.

Hi Ron. Thanks for the question. As far as population goes, the city has been on a small decline over the years, but there is a lot going on. Marshall University has recently finished a new business building and a baseballs field, and there are more large projects on the way that are already in the works. Several elementary schools are being rebuilt, the hospitals are ever expanding, and we may see an uptick in growth due to the Nucor steel mill being built. I know that people in the area are very much interested in getting their hardwood floors redone.

As for rent, you might get lucky to find something around $600, but I would anticipate $800+ per month. If you can find a roommate with similar interests as you, this will help with the costs. But really wanted to see why the housing market… seems to be a lot of people selling in West Virginia, Huntington cable county… what’s going on with the market they can’t meet the mortgage payment because rents are so low… market moving faster than wage increases. Somethings wrong people are selling as if they can’t make the mortgages.???????????
