Which 4 wheel mower is the best. Honda. Toro. Stihl. Lawnflite. PART 1

Comparing the Stihl, Toro, Honda and Lawnflite pro 4 wheel mowers on some thick, damp grass with some leaves. Tried to match the height of cut but not easy. Test designed as if you have 1 mower with you, which will do the best job on long grass.

Thank you for the great video Greg. I would have guessed that the Honda would be the best, however, they all seem to perform similarly. At least with four-wheeled mowers, the grass is thrown straight in the back of the box with no obstacles, not like the roller rotary's.

That's the main issue with the Honda, in tall grass it's very quickly full with its limited height, and it bags very well ! Fine for clean lawns, but on long grass you spend nearly as much time emptying the bag than mowing ! There is a kit for mulching, but I've been told it's not adapted for tall grass.
That said, where I live most professionnals work with Honda mowers...

You never want to mulch tall grass. Discharge or bag, yes.

Thanks. I don’t use it now. Prefer the Toro proline. However I did service the Stihl the other month. Got the Kawasaki engine. I think USA using kohler? Don’t know how good they are. They are built well and the Stihl and Toro 3 speed drives are same gearbox.

What’s the best 48 pro to buy every day use I got pro Hayter at the moment 2019 not impressed part from how quickly it is but had plenty of problems thinking of getting weibang bbc pro same price what I paid for my pro £1.200 what do you guys recommend any new models coming out soon

The 2020+ model Hayter 48 pro has a new engine and slow down kit and a new style blade. I’d prefer the kwaki engine from the weibang but we found the weibang cuts a lot higher. So depends if you do low or high cuts. ruclips.net/video/qwwW_MdnbqQ/видео.html
Not sure what else is on the market. Rub the Hayter has a new drive system which is a lot more durable season after season and a lot easier to work on if needed. I prefer the Toro prostripe than any 48 pro though 😎
Hayter 48 pro shouldn’t have cost you over £1k. Hope it didn’t. Weibang is a few hundred quid more.

Used the viking mowers for years against the lawnflights not sure of the others but the viking/stihl wins all day long for me other than the back to front levers lol

Can I ask what was the verdict from this comparison? I'm currently researching pro mowers but no idea what to buy. I need to be able to mulch well and also bag up. I live in a valley where lots of my clients gardens are on a slope so can't have anything too large or heavy in case it gets away from me! Been a Honda user for years but thinking I might go a different way this time. Any opinions much appreciated.

Most pro decks are heavy 50+kilos, I also found out a lot of mowers are rebadged . I think a good range of cutting heights is good- 8 or more with about 5 -7mm each step.
A true mulching mower is just that with no bag. I don't know much about mulching adapters.

Lol I should have just stood there and waited, not bumped up the speed. I think again, with the stihl, it doesn't throw grass on the floor therefore making the lawn look tidier. and the honda cuts lower than the others, But I was blown away by what I saw, I was becoming a bit of a honda guy, but now my thinking is different.

I sell the toro, because don't work wery well with wet tall grass , It 's half bagging half multch , now i choose the STIHL
