This is in fact their very first song and I feel that it and the video deal with the origin of Vessel, sealing his pact with Sleep and becoming his mortal representative in order to serve and project his message. What is interesting is that at one point we see Vessel using the same hand movements that he uses in Alkaline when he basically kills the hazard suited men using the dark side of the force(or Sleep) which to me says that when he agreed to serve Sleep he was given these powers alongside the Fame and Glory that he was told he would receive. Right from the start Sleep Token had it all planned out and everything they have done since this song was intentional and painstakingly thought out, even the timing of the songs they released this year and the release of Take Me Back To Eden is on a day when there will be a new moon which makes me think of the press release for the album which tells us that it is the final part of a trilogy which will see a glorious conclusion and a new beginning. What that means exactly I don’t know, the character for the last song on TMBTE ‘Euclid’ is holding Vessels head but I don’t think it means the end ,instead they could be following what Ghost do when they introduce a new Papa every couple of albums and have a new Vessel take the place of the original. I know I’m in the minority, but I think the ‘One’ E.P. as a whole is their finest release to date. Those three songs are perfect in every way. So sad that they’ve moved on from this stuff, even though the newer stuff’s still great in its own right.
A deeply creepy song with equally creepy visuals...though, I admit. If I saw Vessel Exorcist-walking his way towards me I'd give it a second's consideration to stick around before he ate my soul.
