Hey I’m Josh from Adelaide, South Australia. I'm a proud father of 3 and passionate about heavy music.
I was the bass player for post-hardcore/alternative rock group Capulet from 2004-2012, releasing an album, EP and several demos.
Capulet were signed to Red Bull and the Taperjean Music Group alongside Closure in Moscow and The Mission in Motion.
Highlights of my music career were playing with amazing bands like Anberlin, Emery, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Haste the Day, Awaken I Am, and touring Australia several times.
I wasn’t the most technical bass player, but lived for performing on stage. I have always loved the process of song writing and the visual art that accompanies music.

Sleep Token are a masked, anonymous collective of musicians; united by their worship of an ancient deity crudely dubbed "Sleep", since no modern tongue can properly express it's name.
This being once held great power, bestowing ancient civilisations with the gift of dreams, and the curse of nightmares.
Even today, though faded from prominence, 'Sleep' yet lurks in the subconscious minds of man, woman, and child alike. Fragments of beauty, horror, anguish, pain, happiness, joy, anger, disgust, and fear coalesce to create expansive, emotionally textured music that simultaneously embodies the darkest, and the brightest abstract thoughts. He has seen them. He has felt them. He is everywhere.
Sleep Token, led by the perpetually tormented, supremely talented Vessel, creates music that brings to the fore our most submerged thoughts and feelings, coaxing them from the desolate, terrifying caves of our subconscious mind.

They've always had that hidden and subtle heaviness to them. Those chill breakdowns still give off that "yeah, we could destroy you if we tried" vibes. I think The Summoning really encapsulated that ability.
If they went back rerecorded this EP eith their current sound engineer, it would be immortal and just as good as anything on TMBTE. Tool did it with Opiate, and is incredible.
After my 5 year old son saw Vessel in Alkaline and then in this clip, he said: "This good monster perhaps from the Moon"😁😊💙

their older stuff took a few listens to grow on me but this ep is one of my favorites now
The tone of the bass pedal when Vessel is doing his cleans in the 1st and 2nd movements is just chefs kiss.z Fucking love when it is to sound like a heartbeat.
I couldn’t be happier that you’ve gone back and checking out the older tunes/projects. Fields of Elation and When The Bough Breaks are in my top 5 ST songs. Now just imagine hearing this song and falling in love with it only to find this was the only release.
Back then we had to wait a month for anything new to happen with no communication.
No matter how far you dug into them you couldn’t find anything.
sleep token is an amazing band. more and more in love with this band.
When the Bough Breaks is the song that solidified Sleep Token as my favorite band. Ever. After I heard The Love You Want, I decided to make a chronological playlist. It literally took four songs. Worship.
I think Vessel sang really differently there. But not bad, on the contrary! "Thread The Needle" and "Nazareth" make me think a little bit of Massive Attack, no idea why. It's just that something mystical, uncanny, dark, "intangible" flows in here. Goose bumps moment. Also, the movie "As Above, So Below" comes to mind.
But the development that Sleep Token has gone through to this day and Vessel's different vocal ranges are just impressive!
This is still one of my favorites. Behemoth vibes with that trumpet tone

There's a finesse to their creations that is practically lost in most modern music...
