Joey's got a crazy deck history... a modern Flame Swordsman deck works great for him, but I do think his true peak is a modern Red-Eyes deck (Duel Links confirms DSOD Joey uses basically every Red-Eyes modern card, especially Archfiend Black Skull Dragon which is a retrain of his original boss monster)... and heck, Gearfried is also iconic to Joey, with Immortal Phoenix Gearfried being inspired by what if Joey had beaten Marik. And also of course you can't forget Gilford the Lightning. The dream would be if Konami actually made new cards that put them all together as a coherent deck
We kind of already do actually. Red-Eyes slash dragon gives them a fusion option with Warriors so it can easily be splashed into a flame swordsman deck. And doing so is actually beneficial because you can dump fighting flame swordsman off of Red-Eyes Fusion to proc its gy effect. Flame swordsman also solves an issue Red-Eyes has had with Lord of the Red because now we can use their new level 8 mirage knight retrain as the requirement. And then there's claw of Hermos which just works super well with flame swordsman as they run 2 of the 3 monster types needed for the current hermos equip cards. Plus unlike the other 2 dragons, it can use material from the hand. So let's say you got ultimate flame swordsman on the field and have claw of hermos as well as either salamandra or fighting flame swordsman in your hand. If you use it on slamandra, you get Red-Eyes black dragon sword to equip to your boss, a search for salamandra with chain, and salamandra can equip itself from the gy. If you use it on fighting flame swordsman, you can get either rocket hermos cannon or goddes bow, a mill for Salamandra which gets you a search for Salamandra with Chain and can equip salamandra from the gy.

Another thing to tie Flameswordsman to Joey is the kanji on Flameswordsman’s sword. It looks like two people on top of each other on fire. Which is what one of them on their own means: fire. Having them together like this means fire still in a sense. But it mainly means flames of intense passion. That’s what the kanji on the sword means and my gosh how that fits so well with Joey. I agree with you that Flameswordsman is definitely representing Joey more then Red Eyes
I love all the legacy archetypes we’ve been getting. Warms this old man’s heart. Hoping they’ll eventually do something with one of my favorite cards: Five-Headed Dragon.
Honestly IMO I think Joey really should have used the Flameswordsman deck and kept red eyes, then should have had the Red Eyes Slash dragon as his Boss monster, since he uses Red Eyes so often and then in this case, uses the Flameswordsman archetype so he has a ton of warrior monsters to use for its effect
Would love a card that links Flame Swordsman to Red Eyes, could be a nice nod to Joey, who is just a combination of Flame Swordsman, Red Eyes, Gearfrieds and Gambling.
I actually made retrains for Masaki and Flame Manipulator. Though they no longer associate with the Flame Swordsman. Flame Swordsman with Immortal Phoenix Gearfreid for some Gearfreid love. Sounds great for a modern Joey deck. I can’t wait until these cards come to OCG so I can play them in Master Duel with my main Infernobles.
It is heavily neat to see such an classic icon card have an amazing archetype that is good. Personally Red Eye is Wheelers Boss monster but the flame swordman is his Ace monster.
Alliteration and power-scaling prefixes seem too generic a nomenclature for such an iconic monster. As an archetype, Flame Swordsman could've had the easiest naming convention. Blue already exists as the atk buffer. Simply go through the color wheel and there's your monsters. For the spells/traps, poetically describe the fire and put "of Flame Swordman" for searching possibilities. For lore, FS could be a mercenary whose exploits as a one-man-army evolve into legend.
I wouldn't mind seeing more Joey fusions and retrains like: Dark Magician the Flare Knight (Dark Magician + Flame Swordsman or FIRE warrior) Magical Flame Swordsman (Flame Swordsman + Dark Magician or a Spellcaster) Red-Eyes Flame Dragon (Red-Eyes Black Dragon + Flame Swordsman) Red-Eyes Super Dragon (Red-Eyes + a bunch of Joey's monsters)
in order to broad the lore of the flame swordsman. Salamandra is actually Ranryu. In order to get this straight we gotta know how Ranryu evolved into Salamandra. Ranryu sinces he was a little dragon wanted to spit fire like his other brethren's, until one day he found Firegrass. Ranryu thought that by eating Firegrass, he could finally be able to spit fire like a real dragon. When he ate Firegrass, Ranryu turned himself into Darkfire Dragon. Even though ge grew more violent he still had his past memory of being Ranryu. In order to become stronger, he gathered 4 more dragons and formed the powerful monster 5-Headed Dragon. This 5-Headed Dragon was defeated by Dragon Master Knight, and, Darkfire Dargon got detached from the 5-headed dragon monster. DMK, felt pitty of all the other dragons after being detached so he sealed the souls of the dragons in different weapons, in the case of Darkfire dragon, he was then sealed into Salamandra Sword. Who was Ranryu? well, he was Petit Dragon, the familiar possesed of Wynn the Wind Charmer, who Petit Dragon promised to her that he would become a strong dragon able to breath fire like his other powerful brethren's
Except the part where Salamandra isn't a sword. Yes, Flame Swordsman's sword is used in the art for Salamandra, but Salamandra is the actual fire dragon itself. That's why its still Salamandra as a monster, why Flame Swordsman's sword gets a dragon added to it and nothing else in the show, and most importantly, how it works on ANY FIRE monster, and not just warriors. You gotta rework this a little.
@@IzraelGraves I don't write the lore, dude. I just try to put the lore in here. Why don't you pick the lore from the internet and put it here instead?

You take no battle damage from battles involving this card. If you would take any effect damage, you can lower this cards ATK or DEF (Your choice) by an equal amount instead. If this card’s ATK or DEF become 0 by this effect, banish it. This card gains ATK/DEF equal to any battle/effect damage you inflict on your opponent. If your opponent destroys this card by battle or card effect, or if this card is banished by its own effect(s): You can special summon 1 level 8 monster from your hand, deck or GY, ignoring its summoning conditions, but it’s banished at the end of next turn._ ATK/2200 DEF/800

When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard: Special Summon 1 "Mirage Knight" from your hand or Deck._ Meanwhile, my idea was made LONG before the new FIRE support, including for FS… Thus my idea was simply meant be an optimization of the previous card (better versions of the old effects, more flexible fusion materials, and a new effect or 2 to complement the old ones.) As for me choosing Blue Flame as a material, I would remind you that A: Certain fusion support cards require a monster that is a named fusion material (sometimes as a specific monster, others as just an archetype of them), and B: The Floating effect basically lets you cheat out ANY Level 8 monster that isn’t banished or in your extra deck, so I thought at the time that the more specific summoning requirements would have made sense to balance that.

Having them together like this means fire still in a sense. But it mainly means flames of intense passion. That’s what the kanji on the sword means and my gosh how that fits so well with Joey. I agree with you that Flameswordsman is definitely representing Joey more then Red Eyes
Maybe they should have made a fusion monster with red eyes and flame swordsman. That would be cool
I love all the legacy archetypes we’ve been getting. Warms this old man’s heart. Hoping they’ll eventually do something with one of my favorite cards: Five-Headed Dragon.
Only thing we need now is Red Eyes Flame Swordsman to connect the two Joey decks.
Wouldn't mind a Red Eyes Flame Swordsman fusion monster. Something in the manner like Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon.
Your turnaround time with this archetype is impressive
Honestly IMO I think Joey really should have used the Flameswordsman deck and kept red eyes, then should have had the Red Eyes Slash dragon as his Boss monster, since he uses Red Eyes so often and then in this case, uses the Flameswordsman archetype so he has a ton of warrior monsters to use for its effect
One of my favorite cards I love using Blue Flame Swordsman
Guess who decided to join the Metalmorph gang?
Omfg finally big support for one of my all time favorites! Flame Swordsman and Buster Blader deserves all the support!
Fun fact: Flame Swordsman's name is Frank.
Would love a card that links Flame Swordsman to Red Eyes, could be a nice nod to Joey, who is just a combination of Flame Swordsman, Red Eyes, Gearfrieds and Gambling.
A dedicated Flame Swordsman deck that synergizes with Red-Eyes is the dream
Joey's Best Card 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Glad Flame Swordsman got new support
Same. Most of the cards says Level 7 or lower Flame Swordsman or monsters that mention it. SO I hope we get a Level 7 Fusion in the near future!
Now we need a red-eyes and flame swordsman fusion or combo deck
I actually made retrains for Masaki and Flame Manipulator. Though they no longer associate with the Flame Swordsman. It works out since Flame Swordsman got more representation as himself instead of his fusion materials.
Chemical Sorcerer
Attribute: FIRE
Type: Spellcaster
Level: 3
Atk: 900
Def: 1000
Effect1: You can Pay 2000 LP to special summon 1 Synchro Monster from the Extra Deck, ignoring Summoning conditions; but it’s effects are negated, it can’t be used to summon an extra deck monster, cannot attack, and is returned to the Extra Deck at the end of the turn (even if it left the field otherwise).
________________________
Masaki, the Grand Shogun of Samurai
Attribute: EARTH
Type: Warrior
Link: 3
Atk: 2200
Link Arrows: Bottom, BR, and BL
Effect1: OPT: If any “Samurai” or “Shogun” monster(s) would be targeted or destroyed by a card effect, negate that effect and banish that card.
Effect2: All “Samurai” monsters gain 300 Atk for each monster on the field.
Effect3: If this card leaves the field, special summon up to three “Samurai” monsters from your hand and/or GY.
Thoughts?
Flame Swordsman with Immortal Phoenix Gearfreid for some Gearfreid love. Sounds great for a modern Joey deck. I can’t wait until these cards come to OCG so I can play them in Master Duel with my main Infernobles.
Man I love when these videos drop can't wait to see the next one where he comes out with should this person of one that duel
Flame swordsman was such a badass warrior monster
It is heavily neat to see such an classic icon card have an amazing archetype that is good. Personally Red Eye is Wheelers Boss monster but the flame swordman is his Ace monster.
I appreciate your impression of joey with the kunai with chain
Alliteration and power-scaling prefixes seem too generic a nomenclature for such an iconic monster. As an archetype, Flame Swordsman could've had the easiest naming convention. Blue already exists as the atk buffer. Simply go through the color wheel and there's your monsters. For the spells/traps, poetically describe the fire and put "of Flame Swordman" for searching possibilities. For lore, FS could be a mercenary whose exploits as a one-man-army evolve into legend.
We need a Flame Swordsman Support card with Red Eyes just to have Red Eyes in the deck.
Please we need Was Antinomy to defeat Yusei please (I mean the duel where Antinomy died, where he summoned T.G. Halberd Canon...)
I don't why but i get major jojo vibes from flame swordsman
I would love to see a retrain of dark flare knight as dark flare swordsman or something.
Salamandra with chain would be an amazing beyblade
I wouldn't mind seeing more Joey fusions and retrains like:
Dark Magician the Flare Knight (Dark Magician + Flame Swordsman or FIRE warrior)
Magical Flame Swordsman (Flame Swordsman + Dark Magician or a Spellcaster)
Red-Eyes Flame Dragon (Red-Eyes Black Dragon + Flame Swordsman)
Red-Eyes Super Dragon (Red-Eyes + a bunch of Joey's monsters)
in order to broad the lore of the flame swordsman.
@@casualtheeduelist I thought you made this up. Where did you get this lore from?
my day gets better whenever i see TGS Anime uploaded a video
Flameswordman
Oh god 😭
Konami better add s retrain of Black Flare Knight, and have it special summon the new Mirage Knight. Heck, i wanna see an elderly Flameswordsman, like the ogon getting aged by Time Wozard but becoming an bop of s beat stick card.
12:05 The special summoned monster's effects are negated.
Flame Swordsman and Dark Magician looking at each other like "He don't mean me"
5:47 Phil Swift would agree cause theoretically “That’s a lotta damage!”
Day one of asking TGS Anime to show us his card collection
Atticus Rhodes is the one that has alot of Red Eyes cards in his deck, plus is his deck is all Dragon type cards.
I would really love it to see Joey Wheeler vs Atticus Rhodes in a anime and in a real life duel too! You too mate? ;)
Now I'm hoping we get updated versions of Magician of Faith and Cyber Commander with nods to Tea and Tristan. Heck maybe some more Blue Eyes cards with references to Kaiba, Mokua and Kisara.
It'd be cool to see some of joey's other monsters be given retrains to help with defense and/or provide burn support, like we could get new versions of
-Red-Eyes
-Jinzo
-Time Wizard
It’s a fun type. Flame Swordsman was cool in that first season. I agree that Joey would probably play this kind of deck in the modern day.
I love the red-eyes flame swordsman build. It’s less competitive but red-eyes slash dragon works really well with the new flame swordsman archetype.
Sam does such a good job teaching viewers how to play like a pro. Pro players know how to master different arch types. Something I was never good at but enjoy learning by watching Sam’s videos.
Man, you should have been the one to do the reveals for this archetype! I had no idea that’s what Fighting Flame Sword was referencing!
I saw this title and thought "oh? Frank got support?"
It took a moment to remember the abridged series isn't cannon.
Had a feeling this video was coming with the recent support. I wonder if this could mean a Joey duel analysis could be coming soon. Wonder what duels he has left that you’d analysis.
Ideas:
Yugi vs Joey (DK or BC)
Joey vs Bandit Keith or Bonz or Rex (DK)
Joey vs Weevil or Espa or Mako (BC)
I’d love to see you analyse a Duelsit Kingdom duel regardless - I wonder how you’d analysis duels with less rules than the traditional format.
Probably his duel with Odion since its the only remaining Battle City Finals duel that hasnt been covered yet here
The flame swordsman's art is cool. I am enjoyed the video. Good work on the video.
Pulled a flame a swordsman from the very first pack I ever got ...instantly became my favorite card ... hadn't even seen or heard of yugioh before that day..
In reality, Joey, in addition to summoning the Flame Swordsman, Joey also summoned Giltia The Dark Knight, also being a fusion monster, without performing the fusion. Joey already has two fusion monsters treated as main deck monsters.
I've been playing a flame swordsman deck since the beginning of Yu-Gi-Oh so this new archetype is a dream for me
I got an admit when I first heard about these cards. I thought they weren’t going to do much.
Now they seem pretty neat.
I always loved flame swordsman and had a deck focused on blue flame swordsman , so I am very happy we got new support and let's face it red eyes was Rex's card joey took it and made it his own , not sure about the season zero manga though maybe it was his ace there
I’m not sure if you take requests or not but I was wondering if you would cover “The Agents/Hyperion” archetype in the future. It’s one of my all time favorite archetypes and I’d love to get more in depth about this archetype that’s out of this world 🌎
Maaaan watching this made me realize yeah there a literal TON of more iconic cards in og duel monsters but flame swordsman never left Joey always staying relevant somehow just like it's goofy but tenacious master I see why Takahashi loved Joey the most and this card feels emblematic of that love. Even in Yami bakura's duel everyone picked their favorite card the only two that managed to stay true to this were Yugi and Joey kinda wish Bakura used a new variant of change of heart down the road regardless awesome video
4:10 does anybody know what website or program this is here? I'd love to test decks on here
The program is ygopro or edopro, I think.
The one I use is even better, YGO Omega
@@saljpal3 thx
You know, this reminds me of an idea I had for a Black Flare Knight retrain back in the day…
_Blue Flare Dark Knight_ (DARK)
Level 6
Warrior/Fusion/Effect
“Blue Flame Swordsman” + 1 “Dark Magician” monster
_This card that is in your extra deck, face-up on the field or in the GY also treated as FIRE-Attribute. If your opponent destroys this card by battle or card effect, or if this card is banished by its own effect(s): You can special summon 1 level 8 monster from your hand, deck or GY, ignoring its summoning conditions, but it’s banished at the end of next turn._
ATK/2200 DEF/800
MAKE IT have GENERIC mats
Card design
@@r3zaful
Well I suppose I should elaborate:
When I first made the card, it was in replacing to Dark Flare Knight being outed as one of the worst classic cards (the OG for contrast…:)
"Dark Magician" + "Flame Swordsman"
_You take no Battle Damage from battles involving this card. When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard: Special Summon 1 "Mirage Knight" from your hand or Deck._
Meanwhile, my idea was made LONG before the new FIRE support, including for FS… Thus my idea was simply meant be an optimization of the previous card (better versions of the old effects, more flexible fusion materials, and a new effect or 2 to complement the old ones.)
As for me choosing Blue Flame as a material, I would remind you that A: Certain fusion support cards require a monster that is a named fusion material (sometimes as a specific monster, others as just an archetype of them), and B: The Floating effect basically lets you cheat out ANY Level 8 monster that isn’t banished or in your extra deck, so I thought at the time that the more specific summoning requirements would have made sense to balance that.
A Flame Swordsman/Red-Eyes deck would be cool they should make those archetypes work together more they seem fitting together
Honestly shocked it took them so long to retool Flame Swordsman with how often they go for nostalgia decks
11:16 Why did you use an AI generated image of Mirage Swordsman's art? Is it to avoid some sort of content match? Or was it the only "high quality" image you could find? That aside, I can't wait to try out this deck. It's genuinely good support and seems fun to play.
On god I used to say “Kunai Whip Chain” and won’t stop now
Not a combo I would've expected them to turn into an archetype. Not disappointed, flame swordsman, kunai with chain and salamandra were always some of my favorites.
