I figured it out. If you start with Salamandra with chain, and equip to either Fighting Flame Swordsman or Flame Swordsman, so when they are used, it gets sent to the Graveyard, you can banish it, shuffle Salamandra and either Swordsman into the deck to summon Fighting Flame Dragon.
My first yugioh experience as a kid was a moment in one of the first episodes where yugi looks at joeys deck and it turns out joey just had 40 beat sticks so yugì gave joey the time wizard to teach him the power of effects
I think that Red-Eyes deserves a shot as a Joey Deck because some of Joey's old cards got Red-Eyes retrains (Baby Dragon, Gearfried, Black Skull Dragon, even Kunai with Chain). The modern playstyle from Red-Eyes revolves around burn damage, like from Meteor Black Comet Dragon and Archfiend Black Skull Dragon.
If more cards are added to the Flame Swordsman archetype, I hope that a majority of Joey's cards will get retrained versions that relate to this archetype. Like, imagine Axe Raider getting a Fire Attribute counterpart, Time Wizard using his Time Magic to turn Flame Swordsman into an ancient, but powerful version of himself, or even have Flame Swordsman fuse with Red-Eyes Black Dragon to create a version of Flame Swordsman wearing a Red-Eyes Black Dragon Armor.
So take dark sage, but for flame swordsman, and let it be able to tribute summon on top of special summon by successful call of a coin flip from a time wizard monster effect
@@ethanmacdonald8568 I was thinking of making Ancient Flame Swordsmaster (That's what I named this ancient form of Flame Swordsman,) as a Fusion Monster very similar to Thousand Dragon. Ancient Flame Swordsmaster would be a level 10, Fire, Warrior Type monster with 3600 ATK, and 3200 DEF. Appearance wise, Ancient Flame Swordsmen would, obviously, be an older version of the Flame Swordsman, which his hair, (provided if he had hair,) would be longer and grayed. Multiple wrinkles and his clothes a tattered, worn and torn. I could also envision a cape that's engulfed in flames, as well as the horns and spikes on his armor being engulfed as well. And as for his sword, I think it would be a combination of the Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword, but containing the symbol of fire, and a black flame is engulfing the sword. I would like think that he would have some effect at his disposal. Something along the lines of; This card can be special summon from your Extra Deck by sending one Time Wizard and one Flame Swordsman or a monster with Flame Swordsman in it's name from your hand or field to the GY. (You do not need to use Polymerization, but will be treated as a Fusion Summon.) This Card gain 300 ATK for every Fire Attribute Monster in your GY. Other Fire Attribute Monsters you control cannot be targeted by your opponent's monster attacks or card effects. Once per turn, you can pay 1000 LP to select one monster on the field and turn it into a Fire Attribute, excluding other Fire Attribute Monsters. Once per turn, you can banish one Fire Attribute Monster from your GY to destroy one card on you opponents side of the field. If this card targets a Fire Attribute monster via this effect, you can return one Fire Attribute monster from you Banished Zone to your GY. If this card should be destroyed by either attack or card effect, you can banished one Fire Attribute Monster from your GY and special summon this card.
Hearing all the effects of the Flame swordsman archetype, what I think the Red Eyes archetype needs is support cards that can pull/support a "Red-Eyes" monster or a card that mentions "Red-Eyes" kind of like most of the archetype that was mentioned in this video.
That or having a Support card that says “Mentions either Red-Eyes or Flame Swordman in its text”. And just to play it safe, they could also do a “Red-Eyes Salamandra” monster card that also allows for both archetypes to be supported!
Another iconic old monster got an upgrade. I love seeing stuff like this. I think the Flame Swordsman archtype could work well with Red-Eyes and maybe make the Red-Eyes archtype alot better. Yeah. We have the Summoned Skull archtype that did it. But I think the Flame Swordsman archtype can work it out better.
Honestly wish that the og archetype monsters could all get 4 star starters to make them more viable for legacy decks. Also came off a Yugi vid where he used flame swordmen. It was funny
I really wonder if they're planning to print any cards that help create some synergy between Flame Swordsman and Red-Eyes. Not only would it make sense thematically as it would be two of Joey's ace monsters working together, but the idea of these two archetypes Fusion climbing using each other would be both really cool and hillarious at the same time.
I would love a Fusion between Flame Swordsman and Red Eyes Black Dragon. Simply put the Swordman on his Back like Gaja the Dragon Champion and its done.
Another thing to tie Flameswordsman to Joey is the kanji on Flameswordsman’s sword. It looks like two people on top of each other on fire. Which is what one of them on their own means: fire. Having them together like this means fire still in a sense. But it mainly means flames of intense passion. That’s what the kanji on the sword means and my gosh how that fits so well with Joey. I agree with you that Flameswordsman is definitely representing Joey more then Red Eyes
Flame Swordsman with Immortal Phoenix Gearfreid for some Gearfreid love. Sounds great for a modern Joey deck. I can’t wait until these cards come to OCG so I can play them in Master Duel with my main Infernobles.
I wouldn't mind seeing more Joey fusions and retrains like: Dark Magician the Flare Knight (Dark Magician + Flame Swordsman or FIRE warrior) Magical Flame Swordsman (Flame Swordsman + Dark Magician or a Spellcaster) Red-Eyes Flame Dragon (Red-Eyes Black Dragon + Flame Swordsman) Red-Eyes Super Dragon (Red-Eyes + a bunch of Joey's monsters)
Honestly IMO I think Joey really should have used the Flameswordsman deck and kept red eyes, then should have had the Red Eyes Slash dragon as his Boss monster, since he uses Red Eyes so often and then in this case, uses the Flameswordsman archetype so he has a ton of warrior monsters to use for its effect
Would love a card that links Flame Swordsman to Red Eyes, could be a nice nod to Joey, who is just a combination of Flame Swordsman, Red Eyes, Gearfrieds and Gambling.

It is heavily neat to see such an classic icon card have an amazing archetype that is good. Personally Red Eye is Wheelers Boss monster but the flame swordman is his Ace monster.
Had a feeling this video was coming with the recent support. I wonder if this could mean a Joey duel analysis could be coming soon. Wonder what duels he has left that you’d analysis. Ideas: Yugi vs Joey (DK or BC) Joey vs Bandit Keith or Bonz or Rex (DK) Joey vs Weevil or Espa or Mako (BC) I’d love to see you analyse a Duelsit Kingdom duel regardless - I wonder how you’d analysis duels with less rules than the traditional format.
Loved this vid. GJ showcasing all the FS stuff there 'generally' is, at least so far 👍 Think you could also showcase some actual Duel gameplay of the stuff, too? Would LOVE a vid on that as well.
Pulled a flame a swordsman from the very first pack I ever got ...instantly became my favorite card ... hadn't even seen or heard of yugioh before that day..
Yeah I’m only halfway through this video and I’m already sold on giving this deck a shot. As someone that barely even plays, and only plays casually, Joey and Kaiba are probably the only two non-protagonist characters I would make a legitimate deck out of. Plus the fact that it seems really effective? Joey wheeler is finally getting his Ws again.
Sam does such a good job teaching viewers how to play like a pro. Pro players know how to master different arch types. Something I was never good at but enjoy learning by watching Sam’s videos.
I’m not sure if you take requests or not but I was wondering if you would cover “The Agents/Hyperion” archetype in the future. It’s one of my all time favorite archetypes and I’d love to get more in depth about this archetype that’s out of this world 🌎
I agree that I feel this new flame swordsman deck is a more Joey kind of deck than what red eyes has become. Its focus on warriors which were a large part of Joey's deck as well as equip cards and unique traps. I think a more modern Joey deck would be Flame swordsman focused with a smaller red eyes engine for fusions, and I hope they make a flame swordsman red eyes fusion to bridge the two and give red eyes a boss monster they can actually use thats more Joey themed than Dark Dragoon.
Konami better add s retrain of Black Flare Knight, and have it special summon the new Mirage Knight. Heck, i wanna see an elderly Flameswordsman, like the ogon getting aged by Time Wozard but becoming an bop of s beat stick card.
instead of a dedicated Flame Swordmans deck, im sure Joey would have a combination of Flame swordsman + Red-Eyes kinda like how Seto Kaiba had a beatdown deck, with a dedicated Blue-eyes strategy
I find it pretty crazy that there was never a fusion between red eyes black dragon and Flame swordsman. That feels like a big missed opportunity they need to fix
I think its important to note that Flame Swordsman doesn't wield Salamandra; his sword is in the art for Salamandra, but the Salamandra itself is just the fire dragon you see in that art.
Flame Swordsman always felt like Joey's true ace. Red Eyes is definitely stronger within the context of the anime, but Flame Swordsman felt like the true "extension" of Joey. He always had that card, and it's the most representative of him. Red Eyes represents how Joey has grown, but Flame Swordsman is who he really is at his core.
Over the past 3 weeks I see red eyes as multiple decks. Focus on Fire/burn, Dark/power, machine/revival, zombie/spamming. So instead of all monster being a Red Eyes card there could be a side branch of Red Eyes flare dragon being a Fire dragon and that can fuse with flame swordman and it can become its new salamandra sword. I don’t know, I feel theme wise it can work with gearfried lore being a fire type future. Would like to incorporate Gilford the lightning but nothing I can think of combine them lore wise or theme wise beside it being its own archetype
A new Flame Swordsman deck would be good for joey, i agree. Even tho he still has red eyes it can be his secondary deck kinda like how Atem has Dark magician and yugi has Silent Magician/Swordsman
I always loved flame swordsman and had a deck focused on blue flame swordsman , so I am very happy we got new support and let's face it red eyes was Rex's card joey took it and made it his own , not sure about the season zero manga though maybe it was his ace there
They need a Black Flameswords man. Attack 3000 Defense 2500 Materials 1 Red eyes card and 1 flame swords man card. When Black Flame swordsman is summoned, can search one card that mentions flame swordsman or red Eyes Black Dragon, add it to your hand or send it to the graveyard. Quick effect: If this card leaves the field you can special summon the Materials sent to make this card. At the end of the turn you can banish the Materials from the field or graveyard and summon this card from the extra deck, graveyard or banish zone. Quick effect: if this card is targeted equip a Red Eyes or equip spell to this card from hand or graveyard, negate the effect and destroy the card.
Maaaan watching this made me realize yeah there a literal TON of more iconic cards in og duel monsters but flame swordsman never left Joey always staying relevant somehow just like it's goofy but tenacious master I see why Takahashi loved Joey the most and this card feels emblematic of that love. Even in Yami bakura's duel everyone picked their favorite card the only two that managed to stay true to this were Yugi and Joey kinda wish Bakura used a new variant of change of heart down the road regardless awesome video
I agree. Flame Swordsman really should have just been Joey's archetype Deck because Red Eyes is Joey's ace monster but it wasnt originally his own card organically like what Yugi and Kaiba have for theirs. It could have been an opportunity in battle city when Joey lost Red Eyes, Yugi could have kept it when he said he didnt earn it. Then he could have rebuilt his deck around warriors. Maybe off of Flame Swordsman.
I’m surprised the fusion materials aren’t getting a retrain. I can see “Flame Manipulator” and “Masaki The Legendary Swordsman” becoming decent searchers or whatnot.

It is heavily neat to see such an classic icon card have an amazing archetype that is good. Personally Red Eye is Wheelers Boss monster but the flame swordman is his Ace monster.
I can't believe we never got a Red Eyes and Flame Swordsman fusion.
Well, maybe in the future. Who knows? ;)
Same. Most of the cards says Level 7 or lower Flame Swordsman or monsters that mention it. SO I hope we get a Level 7 Fusion in the near future!
Had a feeling this video was coming with the recent support. I wonder if this could mean a Joey duel analysis could be coming soon. Wonder what duels he has left that you’d analysis.
Ideas:
Yugi vs Joey (DK or BC)
Joey vs Bandit Keith or Bonz or Rex (DK)
Joey vs Weevil or Espa or Mako (BC)
I’d love to see you analyse a Duelsit Kingdom duel regardless - I wonder how you’d analysis duels with less rules than the traditional format.
Probably his duel with Odion since its the only remaining Battle City Finals duel that hasnt been covered yet here
Personally I think that Konami should make a collaboration of Red Eyes and Flame Swordsman
Yes! This is What I Have been Saying!
Loved this vid. GJ showcasing all the FS stuff there 'generally' is, at least so far 👍
Think you could also showcase some actual Duel gameplay of the stuff, too?
Would LOVE a vid on that as well.
A fusion with Flame Swordsman riding Red Eyes would be awesome. Lord of Red Chaos. Red Eyes Darkness Dragon reprint. Red Eyes Darkness Max Dragon.
Man I love when these videos drop can't wait to see the next one where he comes out with should this person of one that duel
A dedicated Flame Swordsman deck that synergizes with Red-Eyes is the dream
Still waiting for an inevitable Red Eyes and Flameswordsman fusion monster.
Wouldn't mind a Red Eyes Flame Swordsman fusion monster. Something in the manner like Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon.
my day gets better whenever i see TGS Anime uploaded a video
I've been playing a flame swordsman deck since the beginning of Yu-Gi-Oh so this new archetype is a dream for me
Pulled a flame a swordsman from the very first pack I ever got ...instantly became my favorite card ... hadn't even seen or heard of yugioh before that day..
Time Wizard and Gearfried represented him more in DK and BC arcs, to be honest. But I'm glad this finally got support.
12:05 The special summoned monster's effects are negated.
Flame Swordsman and Dark Magician looking at each other like "He don't mean me"
Now we need a red-eyes and flame swordsman fusion or combo deck
Sam does such a good job teaching viewers how to play like a pro. Pro players know how to master different arch types. Something I was never good at but enjoy learning by watching Sam’s videos.
Remember when joey would uyst normal summon flame swirdsman? Ahhh good times
Honestly shocked it took them so long to retool Flame Swordsman with how often they go for nostalgia decks
I’m not sure if you take requests or not but I was wondering if you would cover “The Agents/Hyperion” archetype in the future. It’s one of my all time favorite archetypes and I’d love to get more in depth about this archetype that’s out of this world 🌎
Nice to know they're finding ways to make previously unusuable cards (og fusion flame swordsman) more usuable now.
5:47 Phil Swift would agree cause theoretically “That’s a lotta damage!”
Maybe they should have made a fusion monster with red eyes and flame swordsman. That would be cool
Now if we could just get some more support for Gilford, we'll be all good.
The gearfreed archetype could do with an expansion too, maybe integrating with the flame swordsman for much needed backup.
Honestly, I hope we see Flame Swordman fuse with other Joey monsters. Like Gilford the Lightning or maybe even Jinzo.
With Gilford The Lightning would be really damn Dope! 😮 I love that idea mr. Sowara! But also with Red-Eyes as well! ;)
I saw this title and thought "oh? Frank got support?"
It took a moment to remember the abridged series isn't cannon.
instead of a dedicated Flame Swordmans deck, im sure Joey would have a combination of Flame swordsman + Red-Eyes
kinda like how Seto Kaiba had a beatdown deck, with a dedicated Blue-eyes strategy
I'd love if we could get the same treatment for Cyber Commander. Such a cool looking card and Tristan deserves some love too
I find it pretty crazy that there was never a fusion between red eyes black dragon and Flame swordsman.
WOOOOOOOO ARCHETYPE VID!!!!!! Love listening to these when im doing anything! 🗣️🗣️
Atticus Rhodes is the one that has alot of Red Eyes cards in his deck, plus is his deck is all Dragon type cards.
I would really love it to see Joey Wheeler vs Atticus Rhodes in a anime and in a real life duel too! You too mate? ;)
I always loved flame swordsman and had a deck focused on blue flame swordsman , so I am very happy we got new support and let's face it red eyes was Rex's card joey took it and made it his own , not sure about the season zero manga though maybe it was his ace there
Man, you should have been the one to do the reveals for this archetype! I had no idea that’s what Fighting Flame Sword was referencing!
Celtic guardian into obnoxious Celtic guardian, flame swordsman into fighting flame swordsman? What's next, cyber commander into tactical cyber Commander?
Dark Magician Gaia BLS, Red-Eyes Flame Swordsman, Blue-Eyes just being Blue-Eyes now I wanna build these Decks as more modern anime Decks
They need a Black Flameswords man.
Attack 3000
Defense 2500
Materials
1 Red eyes card and 1 flame swords man card.
When Black Flame swordsman is summoned, can search one card that mentions flame swordsman or red Eyes Black Dragon, add it to your hand or send it to the graveyard.
Quick effect:
If this card leaves the field you can special summon the Materials sent to make this card.
Day one of asking TGS Anime to show us his card collection
We need a Flame Swordsman Support card with Red Eyes just to have Red Eyes in the deck.
We got Gate Guardian archtype and a Hungry Burger archtype
We need one now revolving around Flame Swordsman or that can be tied with red eyes support
I’m surprised the fusion materials aren’t getting a retrain. I can see “Flame Manipulator” and “Masaki The Legendary Swordsman” becoming decent searchers or whatnot.
Honestly I feel like this archetype could compliment the Red Eyes archetype quite well.
I think it can work as well. Problem is we have the Summoned Skull archtypea that already did it. So is it possible Red-Eyes could get more support?
