I really dig how he explains it all as though you know absolutely nothing about guitar sounds. Would make a great introduction for guitar players new to trying pedals. But yes, shame the amp was not properly recorded to give the full effect.
Not to mention he has a special gift that sets him above most average players. He usually plays in open C with REALLY heavy strings. He mentioned in another video that his basic tone is an overdrive and delay with an affinity to the Octavia for special stuff.
Not to diss Joey but it really sounds like his style is an emulation of Blake Mills. At least sometimes. TheBat149 is right - definitely check him out.
It would be a shame to forget Kelly Joe Phelps, even though he hasn't released anything for a while. For fingerstyle and slide, nobody really comes close.
Check out the band 'Slow Poke' with David Tronzo on slide..he mastered all this decades ago- fretting behind the slide- jazz tunes on slide etc. Their version of rockin in rhythm by duke ellington is amazing.
Still sounds better than clipping on a cam mic. Not bad for what I think is just the wireless mic on Joey. Captures the room well. All these demo videos should really try to get a good mic on the room and use a bit less of the mic'd cab, in my opinion. It may not intricately show off the gear's reaction to the source, but it definitely shows the uninitiated or absent-minded how well it's putting out. Especially handy to illustrate wattage or speaker/cabinet variations. Indispensable on acoustic instruments, which your cabinet kinda is.
What tuning are you in? Doesn't sound like standard tuning but it does enhance the style of music you're playing, especially with slide interspersed. Love your videos, great licks and sounds.
Joey I thought Mick and Dan were friends of yours, you can't even give Mr. Daniel Steinhart the designer and manufacturer of the G2 Gig Rig Switcher a plug, shame on you and if anyone is interested in learning more about pedals and your pedalboard specifically they should go to That Pedal Show here on RUclips to view a full demo of your board.

Love the segment but please mic the guitar amp up next time
Agreed. Thank you for watching!
Yes! The guitar sounds like it was recorded using a sock 😜
Lmao 100% agreed
Dude.. I just tried doing exactly that. Honestly, this sounded a bit better.. You need an evil preamp to amplify the signal from a sock.
@@larsfrederiksen3005 I cut the ends off my socks for true bypass. ;o)
his voice, mannerisms, and appearance are remarkably similar to that of a very kind, younger sean william-scott.

Honestly, after Derek Trucks, this guy might be the best contemporary slide player I've heard.

larry geetar He uses open C, with strings thicker than an eliphant
Who mic'd this amp? Booooooo!
So sorry. There is no mic on that amp. Which is totally boo worthy. But appreciate you watching. Did you find the video informative?
He's gotta work on his technical descriptions. Or just play.
Haha, NOBODY
Michael Muilenburg probably one of the best modern blues musicians in the scene and you’re critiquing him on that? lmao boo
You started siri in my IPhone lol with
Hey cbc...
Joey is such a sweetie. Not to mention an awesome player.

notjoeaverage lmao you really want him to shout-out the designer of all his pedals or just the one you care about smh
Focus on one pedal at a time. For newbies it might be too much info to process, great content though. Love your channel.
Thanks for watching, David!
Nice
Thanks!
You So nice
You're even nicer ;P
Just brilliant how subtle he's tuned in.
Pro player amateur sound quality?
Aw, you forgot to mic the amp...
Man, he’s a great player!
Stomp on 'em!! Hah!
super gifted transgendered reverse-sex-skeletal entity

At the end of the day pedals are not essential
