@@TheOldMechanic Yes, so it is, it took some time for me too to find it:), like your calm and accurate style to explain things, have a watercooled BMW GS and a S1000R, looking forward to see more videos, especially tapping control of the S1000R would be very interesting, Greetings Lothar
Alas, this didn't prove true for my 2014 R1200 GSA. The screwdriver tool under the rear seat looks like a standard screwdriver handle and does not have the correct shape for the oil filler cap.
Great videos that you make. Thank you. I saw one video from a BMW dealer filling the oil to the top of the oil indicator window. When he started the engine the oil level went to the middle of the window as it filled the oil filter. Once again thank you for the humor that you use. Very enjoyable!
Thank goodness for your Videos. I was just charged £360 from a local garage (Not BMW dealer)for oil and filter change engine and final drive. £ 278 Labour 😬. I should show them this. (£78 for just the oils by the way) I will be doing my own from now on. Thank you again.
The tool for the oil filler cap is under the seat unless someone misplaced it! I have a 2017 and it takes 4qts. Also, try using a K&N 160 filter- you don’t need a filter wrench!
Yes, there is a key for the oil cap under the seat, right in front of your nose ;) My questions are: how much oil did it take? Shouldn´t it be 5w40 oil? Isn´t it recommended to open the filler cap to drain the oil completely ? Great videos, please continue with relevant matters, I´ll be watching for sure. Txs
Hello Old Mechanics, i like a lot how you explain the services and the Tips ... you make it look simple ... I have a ticking noise on my r1200GS from 2018, the ticking happens when you accelerate hard on 5th and 6th gear at approx 100km/h ... i live in the Hague and would appreciate if we can communicate further? mvg, Lyes
Have a look at the grip of the screwdrivergrip under the bench and you will find the tool for opening the oil tap :)
Wow so the grip is the tool ??

old mechanic, the engine key to open it is on the motorcycle seat, the screwdriver is removable.
If you read the motorcycle manual, you would know where the oil filler plug key is located! 🤷♂️😂
Ouch... Sooo right 👍🏻👊🏻😂
Hello old mechanic the torc spec for the drainplug is not 42 n/m but 32 N/m
Nope according to BMW RSD its 42 Nm
You are blind - open your eyes and you will see the key
😂 found it 👍🏻😉
