- HPDE at Thunderhill in my Mazda3 -- NCRC 9/3/2010 -- my first time at this track, so lines could use some improvement. Just a quick clip of a few interesting laps from third session, following around a friend in his Mazdaspeed3, also passed an rx7 FD and a Mazdaspeed Miata. Sorry for the shaky video, loose headrest mount, gets bad above 100mph. top speed in straights was ~118.
Car has...
- Tri-Point engineering GT2871R turbo kit
- Straight-cut PAR Engineering close-ratio gearset
- 235/40/17 R888 tires (nearly dead)
- Mazdaspeed DA coilovers
- K-Mac front camber plates, SPC rear camber arms
- EBC YellowStuff pads w/ OE rotors, RBF600, SS lines
Hey I'm the traffic causing integra at 5:10 LOL. Sorry about that I had to wait for the straight to let everyone by. Your MS3 is very fast and good driving!
what a beautiful noise in the car. sounds like real touring car. I will definitely remove all sound proof in my mazda 3 MPS.
The stage 2 clutch will be important, definitely get that installed along with (or before) the turbo kit. It ran very reliably with completely stock internals for me for a couple years, but then snapped a rod and punched a hole in the block (check my last Buttonwillow video). I would recommend upgraded internals if you want to beat on it and keep it reliable for a longer time.
random question... what's the install process on this turbo like? I just paid off my 3,debating on getting this kit or trading for a speed3.. thoughts.? advice.?
Yeah I thought so because of the sound. what is the engine spec and useable range? My L3-VDT has been dry sumped, carries same turbo, internal mods and diff change. Cosworth dry sump is very expensive option but it does make a big difference especially after sharp corner acceleration and our duratecs are made to be dry sumped due to block internal oil line. whatever is, your your mazda 3 is really grippy, responsive and powerful with great driving!
hey man nice driving. question.....is the car still ok? did you change any of the internal parts like the piston rods or pistons? I'm considering this turbo kit...thats why i ask.
How much power is yours putting down? Yours was silver or grey right?
No way I could afford a transmission swap at the moment. I don't think it would be worth it for me in all honesty. I'd rather have a Mazdaspeed3 or an STI before I start doing heavy mods like that.
Can I put straight cut gears in an automatic transmission Mazda 3? I love this sound.
Don't race an automatic.
oh i thought u had mazda3
can u afford it?
