Just bought a used boat with a 2 stroke johnson 90hp vro. Ran like a champ when i first got it but now its having a hard time running and staying running. Been using your videos to help fix and maintain it. So far so good. Thank you.
My first boat with a 2002 yamaha 200 ox66. Guys, thanks for the videos i have binged most of you yamaha vids trying to get a grasp on any and everything about this motor. You guys have provided a wealth of knowledge and assistance to my not so mechanically inclined self. Thank you so much for what you provide

I have the same twin counter rotating 200 hpdi engines since new, 2006, on a 92 Grady Sailfish. Run great never had an issue. You didn’t do the filter in the VST tank, every year I do that one, the metal can filter you did in the video, I do every 2nd year. Just did the pump belt, but the old ones were fine. Also, the O2 sensor and its housing needs to be cleaned but I go several years before doing them. Plugs change every second year. Trim seals done this year. Lower unit fluid condition check every year, change it 2nd year.
I worked fighter jets for 24 years and retired about 18 years ago. Just bought my first boat (1994 Model). No Wings! It has a Yamaha 150 Saltwater series engine on a 24 ft Hurricane Deck boat. I sit and look at it and have no idea what to do as far as engine maintenance! We did take it out over a 5 day period, ran it for a few hours and it seems to run great. But after watching some of your videos I think I need to learn more. Much more!
Hi, thank you for your service Sir. Yeah I'm in the same situation with my first boat. I've actually bought an older boat and have had to do some work myself. I've watched a ton of videos and this guy is my go to for restoration and mechanical knowledge also he covers a lot of peripheral subjects to boating. Boat works is another great channel for fiberglass work and painting. You are a lot smarter than me so you will be great at whatever you choose to do. Closest I ever got to a fighter plane was my street bike an FJ1100. I swear if I had wings I could have taken flight😂. Take care.
1997 Yamaha SWS 225 still getting me out and back every time! I stay ahead of the maintenance thanks to channels like this! Thank you Born Again Boating for the fantastic content! God Speed!
Have an 88 Wellcraft V20 with a 2010 Evinrude 175 with almost 1,800 hours on it and it still runs great, servicing, servicing, servicing. Please keep these great videos coming.
I have a 1991 Ranger 395VS with a 2001 Yamaha 225 Vmax. It’s a persnickety ole girl, but as long as you giver her fresh gas and oil and keep the O2 sensor clean she runs like a bay out of Hell! Not sure of hours, but I would bet money it’s well below 1000. 90% of my fishing is done with the bow mount trolling equipment.
Running the notorious Evinrude Ficht 200. It’s a 2001 with 850hrs on it. It came on a “new to me used” boat. Maintenance tip for these....clean out the water passage on the EMM with a small brush on a drill. It’s a common point of failure for overheated EMM units! Great content. Keep it coming.
Have same motor, emm oil injector driver circuit went out around 400 hrs, there is a guy in AL that repairs these EMM's for reasonable $. Currently at ~600hrs, running good.
I just bought a 1 owner 1984 Champion bass boat with a 200 Yamaha motor. This boat looks brand new inside and out. I took it out the first time the other day and it runs like a dream! Needless to say I want to keep it in top shape because I worry about finding parts. This video gave me some info I needed.
Just got my very first boat with a 1986 Yamaha 40ELJ. I've been on that boat with that engine before (my bro-in-law) but the whole package needs some love. Thanks to you, I feel so much more confident on servicing it myself :)
When I was buying boat looked for a four cycle 90 on an 18' aluminum. Found a year old floor model 21' boat with Yamaha 150 2 cycle for less money. Saved me a ton of money and I have been very pleased
I run a 2002 200 HPDI with around 2000 hrs on it, still runs great with good fuel economy. As someone said you didn't mention the VST filter which I do every year along with the O2 sensor. Another thing people neglect is the oil in the high pressure pump, I change that every two years along with the belt. Yeah I know I over maintain it but better safe than sorry.
I've got a 1974 Evenrude 85hp still going strong. It doesn't see much salt so it looks way better than those Yamahas, at least under the cowling. Thanks for the video!
Right here running a pair of 98 Yamaha Salt Water Serie II 250hp's. Best engines ever had and will have. I have a pair of freshly rebuilt power heads just sitting here waiting to be installed when the ones that are on need to be rebuild. Its just a matter of pulling off the old and throwing on the new. That way my boat is always ready to go. 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌.
I have a 99 Johnson 225 on a 19’ Grady that’s being overhauled as I type, also a 97 Yamaha 115 on a 17’ cc Rockwell, a 98 Johnson 20hp on a 14’ Aluimaweld and finally a 62 Johnson 3hp on a 12’ John boat. Nothing like the smell & power. Love them all !!!
Still running twin 150hp etecs absolutely love the torque they produce, my boat full of fuel sits at 4.1 tone and those motors get it on the plain in no time 🤙🏼
I just inherited a couple of Suzuki DTs. Only 60 hours on them and they were stored in the barn. Your videos have been priceless in the amount of knowledge you've provided thank you so much.
A '93 70 hp Johnson. My first power boat. I just bought it a week ago. Learning a ton from this channel. Thanks for making these instructional videos. Until watcbing these, i didn't know wgat I didn't know.
I am still running a 2001 Evinrude 150hp ficht with around 700 hours on it, runs and looks like new still.Down under in Queensland Australia. Cheers and stay safe.
Love the smell its better than the stinky four stroke without catalytic converters. Reminds me of old days on the lakes fishing as a kid. Now its the ocean
This video reminded my of how much I miss my 1960's era, and 1970's era 2-stroke outboards.... they were so very easy to maintain compared to our 2014 Yamaha 300.... I miss the good old days! ☺
Hi, we’re still running twin 2003 Yami 250 HPDI. And they run great.... have close to 1000 hours. Done all my own maintenance. Simple to do for the most part. Thanks for all your tips!
I had a 150 2 stroke Yami on my Whaler in Key Largo. An excellent motor. Just remove the boat mounted oil tank once a year, drain the oil, discard the sludge on the bottom, reverse spray the oil filter with WD40 (replacement isn’t necessary), flush the oil lines too. Reinstall and fill up. If you clean out the engine mounted oil tank, always replace the foam washer. When the engine gets old, remove the oil system completely and mix the oil in the gas. The oil system is the Yami’s Achilles heel.
Still running my 2000 Yamaha V4 115, 2 stroke. Shes a bit thirsty but I love the sound, the weight, 2 stroke oil off Amazon is cheap and it really doesn't burn much for what Im doing.
2001 Yamaha HPDI. Looks exactly like the one in this video. It runs like a top and thanks to your maintenance tips and repair vids I expect to get many more years out of it.
I'm still running a 1985 Evinrude 150 Two Stroke engine on a Grady White Tournament 19. I've had some fuel system issues and other challenges but when she's right she run very well! Thanks for the video you made regarding replacing the installed fuel tank. I replace the tank in the G-W last summer . Your video convince me I could do it myself!
1997 Force 120. Rebuilt the carbs last year, changed the thermostat this year along with the water pump impeller.. Every season I change the plugs, fuel filter, gear oil and fog the motor for winter storage. So far so good . . .
Good stuff once again! I noticed these last few weeks that more and more two strokes are comming in again, in total 5.mostly smaller including an old mercury 7.5 HP and I was surprised that mercury still carried all the parts I needed for it. I usually try to place a small bucket or canister below the fuel water filters so I don't spill fuel everywhere. See you next week stay healthy.
I'm running a 2006, 115HP, YAMAHA saltwater series II here in Australia, it's a great motor. When I bought the boat I did have an issue with oil fouling the spark plugs and missing every now & then at low RPM's when trolling, changed up to the next heat range spark plugs & now it will troll all day as low as 600RPM smooth as silk and the spark plugs look great. Excellent video by the way.
98 Merc 200HP still going strong. Capped fuel oil pump and removed container. Put oil in the fuel manually. Makes it more reliable. With proper maintenance an old 2 stroke will last a very very long time. Not fuel efficient, not quiet, and smokey. Once started though they will always stay running as long as the water pump is working.
20 year old Yamaha 90 2 stroke here. Still running great and blows equivalent 4 strokes into the weeds. Still love it! Remember with 4 strokes they have 1 stroke to produce power and 3 to wear it out!
I've got two 2001 Mercury Optimax 150 EFI 2-stroke outboards and they're running great. I love them. I do the servicing myself so it saves me quite a bit. Just recently had to replace the VST o-ring today cause the old one was done for. I also use Quicksilver Quickleen each time I fill up my 120 gallon tank before each trip.
Your videos have REALLY helped me. I have a 2005 200HP Yamaha which is almost identical to the ones in your videos. I have a bogging issue and then the engine won't start. Feels like fuel for sure so I have ordered the 2 low pressure fuel pumps to replace and will remove and clean the VST as well as check the fuel pump inside of the VST. All of this is covered in your videos and I can't thank you enough. Now, instead of being intimidated or paying a mechanic way more than I need to, I can do some basic maintenance and see where this leads me. Fingers crossed!
Nothing beats the sound and smell of my Mercury V6 135 from 1992! Its been running in fresh water until 4 years ago and I will use it until we die together. Todays engines are to complicated with to many sensors and they scare me a lot. My V6 is of course burning more gas than the new ones, but I can do all service myself and that saves me a lot of money. I also belive these old engines have a longer lifespan, If they are not being run to death and are well maintained.
Running 2002 200 yamaha hdpi just like this one on my 23ft parker se. Apprx 500 hrs and running strong. Love the videos. Change the top side seals on the lower unit and other maintenance work at the beginning of the year. Thanks for all the videos!
Ohh yeah I love a two smoke!!! I have two 1997 Johnson ocean runners. They are hungry for fuel and oil!! But knock on wood very reliable!! Water pumps, thermostats, filters and plugs. When I bought my boat it had the original 89 Johnson’s 225s on her. 1485 hours never been rebuilt original lowers and power heads. I figured I was on borrowed time.I repowered with the 97 225’s from a guy in south jersey who had a hydra sport and was going to E-tech’s. Only 400hrs on them great compression No water in the lowers. Decals in great shape definitely taken care of. They push my Grady Marlin nicely 26kts when I keep them around 4400 they are decent on fuel anything more then a few hundred rpm either way and you see the fuel gauge move almost before your eyes!!! Would love some 4 strokers but these are so light and powerful!! Throws the boat on plane!!
Im from south africa I run a old 80‘s-90‘s suzuki dt16 two stroke its an amazing motor it still uses the old fin type system instead of a impeller never had an issue
I have a 2017 Tohatsu 115 2 stroke on my North River. Got it almost new; runs great; hard on the spark plugs but, simple to replace! GREAT videos very helpful! Keep them coming - Thanks!
2006 Johnson 150, 2smoke on my boat. I've had to replace the fuel pump assembly twice in the last 3 years at $600 apiece plus labor. Thanks for the video, I need to step up my maintenance game.
2002 carbureted Mercury Saltwater 150 2 stroke. Runs great and easy to maintain. As my son calls it, a “reliable 2 smoke.” Just did a service on it. Compression was perfect, ran my borescope in it and everything looked clean. Surprised considering Im in South Florida salt conditions. Regular maintenance and flushes are a must down here.
I've got a 1999 mariner 200 that has unknown hours. Bought it 8 years ago and it has been great. I run the piss out of it every weekend. Even use walmart oil lol. It's all about keeping them serviced and running them.
I just bought a very old boat with a 1996 Mercury 175 Offshore and it desperately needs a tuneup. Thanks to this video I may be brave enough to try it myself!
I have a 2004 yamaha 300 hpdi with 2000 hours. It still runs great. I service it religiously and hope for another 1000hours. Your channel is very informative.
1993 225 johnson ocean runner on a 1989 22' revenge (whaler). rebuilt once by me in 2007. previous owner didn't change the high pressure water pump, ran it high and hot. I fattened up the mid and high speed orifices for break-in, but it ran so well i just left it like that. 35 mile offshore trips at 3/4 throttle without a single issue. thanks OMC!
The oil filter on my 115 yamaha got me the other day!!!!! Once i saw how easy it was to change, I was kicking myself for not changing it sooner. Thanks for all the great content!
Have an 88' Merc 175 black max. Original engine on my Sea Ray Laguna. Bought the boat 2 years ago and been going over every part of the motor and changing parts and got rid of all the black boxes on it. Runs better than ever and it has solid compression numbers around 130 all cylinders. Was thinking to repower with a Suzuki but this motor wants to live for a while. Now that I know how to do all the services on it probably will keep it for a while. Great channel keep up the good work.
'78 Evinrude 70hp. Prior homeowner left me a boat project when I bought the house. Put the motor on the stand and after unseizing the starter, she fired right up. Still going to do a full powerhead rebuild on it though and change all lower seals.
@@BornAgainBoating I certainly wasn't upset about it! I know a decent bit about the mechanical side of things already but I am having to teach myself the fiberglassing side of things since he was in the middle of replacing the transom. Can't determine how to fix where he cut the gunwales off about 4 inches from the transom. Any video suggestions? Everything i find is repairing holes or replacing the entire gunwale, not bonding 2 piece back together
@@joshmorrison2243 i have a 77 . Just bought a solid ranger with it on it. Starts and runs but needs new impeller and a carb service. If you know of any online sites i can purchase any parts for these old gems would gladly appreciate it. Thanks
@@justindavis1381 marineengine.com is where I am able to find almost everything for the engine. You search you engine by model number and then you can sift through exploded diagrams for you parts and part numbers. You can order directly through the site or use the part number to cross-reference prices on other sites. I recently ordered new lower unit drain & fill plugs, set screw, and gaskets for the thermostat from marine engine. But the thermostat kit through them was about $50 but I was able to order it through Amazon for $25. Great site to source those hard to find parts
When you trim it up to check/add oil, LOCK IT OUT. Also make sure you replace spark plugs with the correct plugs, they are not always the same as what you take out! Call NGK or who ever, give 'em the motor specs, and be sure you get the correct ones!
With the ethanol fuel we use there is more corrosion and deposits. Remove the single bolt and drain the carburators if sitting for a couple of days or longer to prevent gumming, corroion and having to tear down and clean them.
2001 yama 2 stroke .. had a 150 but repowered with 200 powerhead on my original 25 in shaft/ lower unit.. have it on 20 ft dual console pro sport 1999 all composite material...meaning super light!!.. I get the best of both worlds with that boat !!.. can literally float in 18 in of water and she doesn't beat u to death in choppy to rough seas !!
I have 2 of these exact engines on my 27foot Triton CC.. and thanks to your channel I have learned some tips and tricks that have helped me and comtinue to help me... Thanks and Greetings from Aruba!
I have a 2004 70hp Yamaha 2 stroke on a 2004 176 Key Largo center console I bought in March. Runs great, did have a replace the original tilt/ trim motor in August. Knock on wood, running great and no problems now. Fish the ICW south of St. Augustine.
1984 Suzuki 75hp , I bought it used in 1989. Good runner! I did not realize 2 strokes had a thermostat until it was 30 years! (Ding dong is anybody home) 2 of the 3 housing bolts broke(seized) I had to drill the 2 bolts out. Its running again!
Aaron I always carry a spare fuel water separator filter onboard. I had to do a swap out on my Mercruiser the other day while I was heading out fishing. I was 8 miles from where I had launched and was not making much headway on my 10 hp trolling motor, glad thing I had a spare filter onboard!!
Just did a carb job on my 1999 150 Yamaha Saltwater Series II (also completely purged all fuel, changed oil, fuel & water separators, new fuel pumps, plugs) -- fixed bogging issue @ +3500rmps!
I purchased my first boat last year and there a 2 stroke on it. I plan to keep the engine for a while. Thanks for the great vidéo. I’m a new subscriber to your channel. I love your videos. They are very usefull and very well made. Good work guys!
Same here. We got our jon boat from the wifes grandpa when he passed. It has a 35hp Johnson thats been on there since the early 70s. Been giving me fits for the past year but she will be back up and running here soon hopefully lol. I cant afford a 35hp 4 stroke.
Thanks for the video. I still love a 2 stroke motor on a boat, I know they are not that great on fuel or even that environmentally friendly but when you open the taps up the roar. Currently running an 87 Yammie 25 Excel, its on a new mid section and has later model cowls. About to replace it with a 300HPDI, just waiting on some parts. Should make my 22footer get up and go.
2001 Merc 90, had from new. I've changed the gear oil and impeller regularly, greased it all and sprayed it before and after every use so it still looks like new. But I've only changed the sparkplugs and the fuel filter twice in 20 years. Never even considered the PTT! Still runs nicely mind. I do love 2-strokes...
2006 250 E-TEC on my 89 Boston Whaler Outrage 22 Cuddy. About to hit 1000 hours on the motor and still runs like a champ. Sips fuel and oil at cruise but open the taps and she'll start sucking it down. Love the unique exhaust smell of an E-TEC =P
2007 150 evinrude etec, thanks for the info on the oil container filter never knew. You saved a lot of headaches with that information. Thanks and keep up the great vids.
94 Mercury Black Max 150 on a 20' Livingston 200 Viking Walkaround. Engine has 860hrs, power head has just over 100hrs since complete teardown rebuild. Excellent powerplant, lots of guts, not terrible on fuel and it'll cruise just under 30mph at 4000rpm!
I love these videos! Keep them coming! Great job guys! I have a 2 stroke 75 hp Mariner on my old boat, that one of my boys is going to take and I have bought me a new boat with a 4 stroke 90 hp Suzuki on it, my 2 stroke has been a great Engine, I can only hope the 4 stroke is as good!
One of my boats has a 1996 Yamaha 200 HP 2 stroke Saltwater series pushing a 24' boat. My running joke is, when the boat dies, I will move that engine over to another boat. Best engine I have ever owned. These new four strokes are such gutless garbage that I will keep this one forever. Somebody please fix the problems at Evinrude and make a descent 2 stroke. Long live the 2 stroke.
Lol :) I don't think you've heard the news yet :/ Evinrude stopped production on all outboard's! So now no manufacturer is producing a 2-stroke :( So keep that thing running as long as you can lol :)
Running a 1990 mercury 2 stroke on a sea nymph ,100 hp .Here in New Zealand plenty of boats still running them .This motor is great, runs well and not bad on fuel if you don’t thrash it. Thanks again for your great information today 😊🚤
I am still having a blast with the EBCO V-163 ( 16' ) and U.S Marine/ Force 85 ( 2 stroke/ 3cyl. ) that my Dad bought in 1985. Quite amazing because so many of our lakes in S E Colorado were not much more than glorified mud holes and surprised that the water pump hasn't chewed up/dried up. There are not many parts available for the Force series. Once the smallest thing goes wrong, i'll be shopping for a new engine.
Sold my Lund Tyee last fall with an '87 Evinrude 90...had to replace the wiring harness due to age, but still running strong according to the new owner. Now have an '06 Yamaha 50 and will use what I've learned here to keep it going as long as my old Evinrude.
2000 Yamaha 150 2 stroke still running great. Just had to replace 2 fuel pumps in 2019. Regularly spray entire engine with WD-40 to coat all moving parts.
Just got my first boat with a 2000 Johnson 115. Auto Technician by trade, shade tree boat mechanic trying to learn the ropes to keep this thing alive. Love the channel and the all the content. Subscribed! 🤙
I have two old two strokes. One 1974 70hp Johnson and a 1982 150hp Johnson. Both work perfectly. I bought the 70 as a scrap motor. Didn't take much to get her to run, perfect compression.
Well done video! I'd never worked on outboards, but have worked on just about every other type of engine. Your video was both concise and clear. Only thing I could say to make it perfect would be to add chapter segments that jump to each maintenance segment. This will go a long way towards keeping my yamaha outboard running a long, long time. Cheers! and Subscribed!
I pick up a 22’ center console last year with exactly same engine 200 HPDI only 230 hour sitting on lake Gorge FL. Did all service watching this video and men it run like a champ. My first boat!!
I cant believe as good as you are and I truly mean that. That you are showing prefilling the fuel filter by filling the discharge hole. Any dirt going into the discharge hole can go further towards the motor. Put a plug into the discharge hole and fill through the small holes. Just a thought.
Runnin 1989 johnson 50hp -2st = runs 5hrs in the AM and 4 hrs in the Pm every day for 3 weeks every year on Maine lake each spring LOVE IT ! No fail yet !
Still running a 1995 Johnson 150 on my Grady. Love this channel. thinking of going into the business and you have taught me alot. Keep it going. Love the podcast as well.
‘88 Mercury 115 Tower of Power, still going strong! Thanks for the tips on maintenance, I have to say the tower of power is pretty bullet proof! Yearly basic maintenance and it always gos!
Running a 1971 Mercury 500 Thunderbolt. Fully rebuilt last season with new Vertex pistons and CCMS reeds; she runs like a champ, premium fuel premixed with semi synthetic 2 stroke oil and she'll run like the energizer bunny on steroids.
Running a 2001 Yami 150 saltwater series hdpi. Runs great, always has. Serviced filters and plugs and water pump. Use Yamaha ring conditioner in every tank. Use stable in every tank unless non-ethanol. Did not know about filter on bottom of oil tank will change next week. Have been very careful to keep that unit clean.
Just bought a used boat with a 2 stroke johnson 90hp vro. Ran like a champ when i first got it but now its having a hard time running and staying running. Been using your videos to help fix and maintain it. So far so good. Thank you.

Still running twin 150hp etecs absolutely love the torque they produce, my boat full of fuel sits at 4.1 tone and those motors get it on the plain in no time 🤙🏼
I've got a 2002 Yamaha 200hp ox66 with 512 hours. Runs like new looks brand new under the cowling. Best Yamaha ever built
Who the phuck thumbs down this? I have a 4 stroke and still thumbs up this video. My boy does amazing work! Great video. Makes my Tuesday every week
Communists.
no shit what kinda of buttnugget to you gotta be to thumbs down some guys helping ya out with info to save you time and money 34 friggin wankers!!
I am still running a 2001 Evinrude 150hp ficht with around 700 hours on it, runs and looks like new still.Down under in Queensland Australia. Cheers and stay safe.
Wow a ficht! Cool!
From the things I’m seeing in Australia, I’d use that boat to get the heck outa that place
I've got a 225 Suzuki 2t, still running strong. It loves fuel too!
Who loves the smell of tcw3 in the morning?
Love the smell its better than the stinky four stroke without catalytic converters. Reminds me of old days on the lakes fishing as a kid. Now its the ocean
Me. For 16 years now.
This video reminded my of how much I miss my 1960's era, and 1970's era 2-stroke outboards.... they were so very easy to maintain compared to our 2014 Yamaha 300.... I miss the good old days! ☺
Andrew F Yakim that's why I still run an older outboard and tow my boat with an old Jeep. Cause I can fix em both!
Hi, we’re still running twin 2003 Yami 250 HPDI. And they run great.... have close to 1000 hours. Done all my own maintenance. Simple to do for the most part. Thanks for all your tips!
Just bought a 2002 yamaha 150 as my first boat. Appreciate these videos, hopefully it will help me keep the boat running for a long time.
Why not just replace the oil pump?
Still running my 2000 Yamaha V4 115, 2 stroke. Shes a bit thirsty but I love the sound, the weight, 2 stroke oil off Amazon is cheap and it really doesn't burn much for what Im doing.
2001 Yamaha HPDI. Looks exactly like the one in this video. It runs like a top and thanks to your maintenance tips and repair vids I expect to get many more years out of it.
How many hours are on your engines?
I'm still running a 1985 Evinrude 150 Two Stroke engine on a Grady White Tournament 19. I've had some fuel system issues and other challenges but when she's right she run very well! Thanks for the video you made regarding replacing the installed fuel tank. I replace the tank in the G-W last summer . Your video convince me I could do it myself!
1997 Force 120. Rebuilt the carbs last year, changed the thermostat this year along with the water pump impeller.. Every season I change the plugs, fuel filter, gear oil and fog the motor for winter storage. So far so good . . .
I am running a Yama SX150TXRA. No non-maintenance issues to date. This was my first non-carbureted engine. What a welcome difference!
1990 Mercury 100hp, 4-cyl, 2-stroker still running great all these years. Moves our 20ft pontoon with authority!
20 year old Yamaha 90 2 stroke here. Still running great and blows equivalent 4 strokes into the weeds.
Still love it!
Remember with 4 strokes they have 1 stroke to produce power and 3 to wear it out!
Still running my old 92 Johnson 60 HP 2 stroke. Love it!
Excellent advise as always. I have twin 150 HPDI with 300 hours, going strong,,,, doing what you just showed. Maintenance is the key
1966 evinrude still going strong, starts first pull!
I am running a 2000 Johnson 90HP Oceanpro. No issues until recently when the VRO oil pump died. Has been a great motor! I enjoy your channel.
I have an engine similar to that get rid of that vro pump and premix best thing you can ever do with it
@@krod2162 I just had it replaced, hopefully, I’ll get another 21 years out of it!
I sold my last 2 stroke 3 years ago now. I'll never forget the smell. It was a Yamaha 130 V4. Awesome engine!
I just paid a guy to put the same outboard on my boat. Hopefully it all works out.
2004 Yamaha 90 2 stroke. Get up and go on demand, no waiting like a 4 stroke! Thanks for your videos they are great.
Welcome!
Run a really good low micron fuel filter. Makes a difference
1995 Mariner 115 in a 19ft Sea Pro. Just did most of this myself. Still running strong. Tks.
1990 Evinrude 140 still runs great. Also have a 1978 Evinrude 6hp rebuilt lower unit and replaced water pump. Runs like new
'03 Yamaha 130 2 stroke - love it so far. Die-Hard Yamaha fan here with quads, dirtbikes and audio electronics. My first 2 stroke boat.
I have a 2004 yamaha 300 hpdi with 2000 hours. It still runs great. I service it religiously and hope for another 1000hours. Your channel is very informative.
I'm thinking about buying a boat with twin 300 hpdi engines. Any advice?
Nice! Presents with the home is always nice lol
@@joshmorrison2243 boatworkstoday Andy is the best
No worries! Thank you for all the support!
I have a question, when the latches that clamp the cowling to the engine seize, 1 how to replace, 2 how to repair and also how to remove.
I have a 2004 70hp Yamaha 2 stroke on a 2004 176 Key Largo center console I bought in March. Runs great, did have a replace the original tilt/ trim motor in August. Knock on wood, running great and no problems now. Fish the ICW south of St. Augustine.
I actually just got my '89 Wellcraft center console up with a 90's Yamaha V4 115 Saltwater Series up and running and love it!
Ouch lol at least you got them out lol nice!
Love a 2 stroke. I'm a omc man Johnson/Evinrude. Still running a '88 Evinrude 20hp on my jon.
Have you changed your Lower unit seals? I have a 2000 tracker 25 and I’ve changed all but shift shaft seals
@@africanjew1596 Yes, actually, I forgot. I did and pressure tested it using a car foot pump connected to a gear oil filler hose.
Born Again Boating - how about Merc Optimax?
Jason Macklem I have the same motor really strong, I tell all my biker friends this is my Harley, she’s a screamer!
Robert P Mercury discontinued the optimax
Just use lots of Yamaha Ring Free in the fuel 1500 hours on old 200’s
I have those exact engines on my 2655 pursuit center console and still going strong since 2007!!!!😍
Sold my Lund Tyee last fall with an '87 Evinrude 90...had to replace the wiring harness due to age, but still running strong according to the new owner.
Subscribed! 🤙
Thanks for the sub!
Thanks!
O yes still running my 96 saltwater series 150 and loving it. Just can’t like’em got to love’em
I pick up a 22’ center console last year with exactly same engine 200 HPDI only 230 hour sitting on lake Gorge FL. Did all service watching this video and men it run like a champ. My first boat!!
Glad the video was useful!
Running a 2 stroke 60 mercury on my small boat, 16’. Great videos.
Running a 1971 Mercury 500 Thunderbolt. Fully rebuilt last season with new Vertex pistons and CCMS reeds; she runs like a champ, premium fuel premixed with semi synthetic 2 stroke oil and she'll run like the energizer bunny on steroids.
Just bought a yammy 115hp 2 stroke from 2001. Runs like a champ!
