I bought the 918 Drill and Chuck attachment a little over a month ago. Really nice toy but I haven’t cut 6 inch Material yet. The nice thing about it is that it won’t stall out when you are trying to Drill a Hole in heavy plate. The Tapping attachment is next on my list.
Man, I had dreams about this thing. Drilled thousands of holes in plates, web and flanges while working at a steel plant years ago. I was one of the best drillers the plant had and was often asked to show other workers how to use the drill without breaking bits. Had to carry that sucker around. The beams didn't come to you, had to walk all over the yard from beam to beam. I kind of miss it.
I’ve been manual feeding my HMD925 because the auto feed is not working. I planned on fixing it but after watching this guy manual feed his HMD918 through 6” of steel I may just leave mine the way it is and continue manual feeding.
I heard there was a recent manufacturing hold on this product, do you know if the 918 will be available in the future or is a replacement drill recommended for cuts of this depth?

Yes there has been a pause on the manufacturing of it because of some shortages but it will be back soon!
@@HougenManufacturing awesome, thank you for the reply
@@HougenManufacturing Is it safe to purchase one of these drills from Amazon, considering the issue with shortages?
@@danielblea3520 If you can verify they have it in stock. Then yes! If not, send us an email to info@hougen.com.
