    Gotta give props to the content you do.. most product reviews... either the footage is trash but they can spit out every detail or, they have great visuals but don't tell you anything.. you deliver on both and bc you shoot good., i take the critics more serious..
    Thanks for all the content.. Z Cam, Nanomorphs, Komodo, Sony, Vazen, Siriui, etc..
    I'm still torn on Nanomorph, Vazen, or this one.. can't afford the FF Vazen,, so I'm shooting for Nano 35mm... and figured, maybe it's cheaper to just the E mount for my Z cam.. cause the PL Nano is like $500 more than the Sony version

      Man thank you for sharing that. Sometimes RUclips can be a negative space, so to have someone get what I’m doing and have a mutual respect for it gives be a lot of energy to keep going. It’s weird that some people despise me trying multiple options for my own work lol and then sharing it on RUclips 😂. I’m generally positive about most gear cause we’re spoiled. So it comes down to my personal usage and annoyance.
      And man I’m craving to see more from atlas new mercury lenses. I think I might have to invest into those. I will say the Siruis full frame paired with their 1.25x adapter makes them game changing. I’m trying to get them to send me a set to test again. My only beef with the nanmorphs are the streaks are a little harsh from what I remember. I think Anna try them again in the e mount

      @@cammackey there's haters in all hobbies,, but with film especially.. ppl get critical quick.. there's a positive n negative way to look at everything.. and so, I'm glad you vary things up,, shows you're always looking to better things and find what works best.. and in doing so, we get to see your perspective to help make our own decisions.. any 'purist' giving you grief for that, probably just doesn't have the option to switch up their gear to that extent.. and just get bitter about it..
      Atlas do look the best in this area of anamorphic.. but they're still too out of my league $ ... i don't like flare overkill either but the Nanomorph now has a silver flare that takes on the light source hue that its flaring from.. it's way now subtle looking..
      They're small.. 1.5x (my minimum), constant squeeze.. cheap..
      I just wish it was concave and a constant 1.8x or 2x.. but it'll do me just fine i think..
      I let ppls neg comments get in my head at times.. don't give them any time.. you stay really active, and produce good stuff that you deliver often.. this kinda stuff takes up alot of time.. so i appreciate your efforts.. and all your stuff has a signature look too which is great

    I've watched basically everything you've put out for the last few years, and your point of view always has value for me (as a working visual artist) because you're out in the world creating cool shit. I always love your gear reviews because you're an artist who is constantly striving to find the stuff that will help you realize your vision. Being a geek about the gear can still mean that creating comes first (even though other gear focused geeks never create much of anything)

  • @JeremiahBostwick

    I agree with you that if you're buying a budget anamorphic lens you're going to have to live with compromises.
    I just have an issue with blue flares and double flares. If they could make a neutral flare version, and step-up their internal coating game I'd be all over it. I do like flares in general, but I think specifically flares is one area where I prefer spherical over anamorphic. I feel like with anamorphic I would be way more judicious about point of light coming in.
    All that said, it seems like this is a very reasonable option when considering cost. I'm certainly not mad about the fact that there are multiple companies making less expensive anamorphic options. It will only give us more options at a better price.

    • @cammackey
      @cammackey  Год назад

      We’ll see that’s what’s funny. Obviously it all comes down to preference. But Classic anamorphic streaks have secondary flares and super milky stretch bubbly flares too. But yeah I think this lens is the least clinical out of all the budget options

      @@MattRozier1 Nope. a 16:9 4k readout on a full frame sensor with a 1.8X stretch and a 2.40:1 final crop basically is cropped the sensor down to larger than S35 coverage still. So im still getting a 4k readout, youre just losing the extra sides. If any of that makes sense. Regardless the anamorphic lens, on a 16:9 readout youre going to have to crop the sides. Even when I had the Komodo, it had anamorphic suppose. Which basically means it's cropping the sensor to 3:2 or 4:3 in camera and destretching.. basically chopping the sides off. Thats where cameras like the new panasnoid s5ii comes in.. cause you can actually use that whole full frame sensor to get the full quality out of the lens
