- ABOUT THIS VIDEO
An Emirates Boeing 777-300ER lands on runway 23R at Manchester Airport stopping in a very short distance.
This stands out as a fast landing/stop for the following reasons:
a) The aircraft touches down quite far up the runway.
b) All wheels touch down even later.
c) Reverse thrusters open even later.
d) The aircraft is still able to vacate the runway sooner than is usual for an aircraft of this size. They usually exit further up having touched down and activated reverse thrust much earlier.
You can see what normally happens here for comparison...

In my opinion, the best airliner in the skies today
JacksonRF112 - Gamming He was implying the Boeing 777-300ER itself
@@arunabhsaha no, he was implying the boeing itself.
@@jarf2842 make that 6yrs
The pilot had to go to the toilet
Patrick 😂😂
Yeah
its amazing, the plane just sits there on the wing wheels for about 15 seconds!! and then brings the nose down so cleanly... wish i could do that!
i just love this plane i could watch this video whole day
the people who says 777 is skinny/camera-stretched must have no knowledge that IT'S GOT THE LARGEST TURBOFAN JET ENGINES SET EVER FITTED TO AN AIRCRAFT and it has 10 seats per row in economy class. SO IT HAS BIG FUSELAGE, BUT THE ENGINES ARE IN MORE BIGGER PORTION!
***** more comfort...thank you, good to know!
+Uuain S I've Been in Thai's B777 :P Glorious!
***** true :P And the Mini TV Omg! O.O Epic
That's is ONE IMPRESSIVE landing of a MASSIVE jumbo to a dead stop....!!!
I fly emirates most of the time and I have to say that they have the best pilots! Even an A380 landing feels incredibly smooth :)
WOW! Love how the plane dips right during the brake squeal! Orgasmic!
It's a good looking aircraft. The 777 has nice proportions just like its big brother the 747-400
That's pretty impressive. From the threshold to that turnoff is less than 5,000 feet. They made a solid touchdown and came to a reasonable stop in much less than that... The runway of Key West International (EYW) near me is 4,800 feet end to end - the shortest runway in the U.S. served by Delta. 738's are the biggest planes that fly from here. To think that this 777 could theoretically make it here with a good headwind and a few feet to spare is pretty cool. Would be something to see.
wow nice crosswind landing there, fantastic landing, great video mate!
Emirates used to be my fav airline cause i flew with it a lot. But now. IM a Aviation Enthusiast so, its all about the butterrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Love this airline, love this aircraft, LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! :)
773... So beautiful!
Very nice landing and that plane must have the ability to reverse its engines enabling it to slow down at a much faster rate. :D
Looks like a 777-999999999999999999999999999999999999999 xD
FAIL!!
It's a 777-300ER
My proportion is right...
What a beautiful aircraft.
my dads a pilot for emirates!! emirates ftw! best airline ever
60 kts is correct, but he is idle reversing at that point, meaning that the reverese thrust is engaged but the engines doesnt deliver any thrust. the 60 kts rule is to prevent debris on the the runway to blow in front of the engine and get sucked in. since idle reverse doesnt produce as much thrust as full reverse, that's not a problem while still rolling
Great to see the eventual deployment of the reverse thrust- was this an idle reverse landing?
B777 excellent braking ability
@volcom1722 the engines wont get damaged because of reverse engaged under 60 kts... look at the DC-9 that uses powerback instead of pushback... C-17 use reversers for powerback... it is very often pilots have reversers engaged under 60 kts...
good landing with emirates i gif you 100% likes
looks like a very nice landing to me - not too fast at all. very well lined up and good speed. slow enough to get by with wheelbrakes only.
***** And clearly hearable that they use idle reverse, so it doesn't add anything to the braking capability ;)
What a great vid, and a great spot. Thanks.
this is impressive, never thought a 777 can stop so fast, and they did even put the engine brakes very late.
@superaerosonictv See the engines at 0:36? There he starts reverse thrusting. The breaks aren't used too hard.
the 773's engine looks soooooooo biiig !!!
i was on a flight to my local international airport last week; Norwich, i have flown into Norwich Int a few times on aircraft such as the Dash 8 and 737 however this was a almost full 757 and i have never felt such a rapid deceleration before, literally as he landed and started braking myself and i think most of the passengers were jolted forward. nice video btw!
Emirates has great inflight service!
nice shot.. nice colour!!!
@shitHappens4u The only risk of damaging the engines using reverse thrust below 60 kts is the risk that the thrust will kick debris forward and up into the intakes. If the surface is clear of debris (rocks, nuts, bolts, etc) reverse thrust can be used even while an aircraft is stationary - in fact, American Airlines has had procedures in place for a pilot to use reverse thrust to back an aircraft away from a gate!
Nice wheelie!
NICE landing! I love Emirates! But yes, it does look quite windy! I think this is in the UK somewhere...
Landing weight could be less... That's why the R.Thrust and optimal braking is sufficient... 777 is one big long range A/c... i like...
@jonny96 you know about air cushioning while landing, it can slow a plane down tremendously landing, I said use yaw dampers because at a low speed the plane's ass tends to shimmy but I wouldn.t recommend it, I just follow the ILS just as the FAA taught us to do, you must be a pilot too, awesome vids man!!!
Nice, nice, nice for spotting
If the wings didn't clip, I'd _almost_ say it could stop on a carrier. Geez, that was a quick stop. Though, main gear was down for several seconds. Either way, impressive.
Красивая посадка ! Для желающих поснимать созданы все условия, даже смотровая площадка есть. Почему бы у нас так не сделать. Бедные споттеры всегда приходится искать лазейки и натыкаться на службы безопасности ! %)
@Trotters80 what are u thinking man? 23R is a short runway, no bad piloting.
He had his reverse thrust on until pretty late. To my knowledge, you're supposed to stop after reaching 60 knots.
In terms of crashes, both are on par with each other :D
Pretty sick but you can hear how strong the wind is. Still cool though.
@TurbineProductionsX you are 100% correct thank you smartest person in the world here everyone
WONDERFULL
This must be the new 777-400EL(Extra Long). LOL
At least that's what the camera aspect ratio makes it look like. lol
@shitHappens4u the idle reverse and doors closed are 2 differn setings and you go idle reverse at 60 doors at 30ish (at lest on boeings)
There was a strong headwind, allowing the pilots the land at a lower speed
wow who knew a large plane could stop in such a short distance???
My cousin flies for Emirates and is the Captain of a 777, so this may be him haha!
777'S &DER emiratian pilots r so wonderful ive experiencd dem over 100 times in 777's sometimes dey dnt even use reverse thrusts& land in less den 1/3rd of airstrip& straightly park,on other hand my experience on air india pilots flyng737 dey almost finish d strip with full reverse thrust on as737 has small wings so dey land with momentum but 777 dey land like a slowly sinking kite or a parachute due to its extra large wide wings they just glide like as you have thrown a piece of a thick paper
gotta love the triple 7....ahhhhhh
Is it down to bad piloting? Good conditions so cant see why this landing should be different to all others? Cheers
wow, must have been light and quite some headwind
Landing at the old Kai Tak runway in Hong Kong was a bit like this landing !!
Quick stop to avoid back taxing
id love to see eicas - gear page after such landing
really WOW !
short braking distance !
@mang0mang0mang0 yea but they have a perfect safety record since the airline began in the 1980's !
@cvbcbcmv With all due respect, i believe it is the quite the opposite, pilots frequently make use of reverse thrust in order to not have to use autobrakes, which in turn saves wear on the brake pads, allowing them to be used longer. The engines are designed to last for a certain period even with reverse thrusters in use for every flight, and the story about noise is simply incorrect.
lot of headwind allowed the 777 to approach pretty slow (ground speed)...guess that's why it stopped so quickly
waw!!!! large plane landing in a small airport
3 and 4 years ago to Cape Town via Dubai (5 hours in hell transit, smoking everwhere, people asleep all over the floor and no hotels available).
That brake sound was loud it might be so hot!!!
(Do not touch gear It must be realy hot some of the ground service check might toutch it
:3
looks like spotters paradise?
@jordmc3, Manchester UK, it says (ABOUT THIS VIDEO) click "show more" gives you a full description.
@blackop83. What is the best route to take if you want to become a pilot????
@edvardsoz no it didnt, it stopped becasue the relative airspeed was greater then the ground speed. An aircrafts landing airspeed varies on a few things, one is how fast the wind goes over the wing, a faster headwind with decrease the ground speed.
short field landing he had a high flare as well as he pressed the brakes immeaditly
@jonny96; Fair do's Jonny; I did hear something like a chirrup from the tyres when abeam of the camera, but still can't see any partic'lar attitude change you normally get with heavy wheel braking . I stand corrected!
Head winds + low ground speed = short usage of the runway
@sertox12345 there are usually lots of people watching planes take off where I am, how does that mean it was a test?
He didnt wanna miss the turn! LOL
@SenorSpode Agreed.
Engines!
woow you can hear the breaks verry hard
I can imagine everyone on the plane snogging the back of the seat in front of them as the deceleration kicks in... Bet this bloke could land at JSI (Skiathos) which is a very short runway. Not sure he'd get a 777 back off the ground from there though...
Its slow coz of the speed of the head wind - making the speed relative to the ground a lot slower than with neutral wind...you can hear it on the Mic....look at the woman's hair at: 00:48 onwards.
HOT BRAKES HOT BRAKES HOT BRAKES!!!
@cvbcbcmv Are you sure of this? I think on the airport, where other aircraft take off and produce al similar amount of noise, it doesn't matter to activate reverse thrust. And braking as hard as in the video without reverse thrust is not good at all for the brakes!!
@SangeethaSangi how you know that-.- no line number or something..
@volcom1722 Looks like he engaged it at 80 knots!
The pilot hacked his friend's A380's onboard computer and downloaded the brake-to-vacate software onto his 777. I guess it worked!
best landing i have ever seen. xD
he was just trying to cause drag by lifting the nose for bout 5 seconds. and then reverse thrust whilst on the brakes.
what airport is this?
@saipansmall the propellor?
Dang. Experienced, indeed.
nice yr
Wow you can really hear the brakes!
It is the reverse thrust's sound
Yeah it's the riverser sound the 777 has one most most powerful engines so the reverser also veru powerful
Well Emirates are known for their fantastic quality and experienced pilots.
Not to mention, this is called 'Reverse Thrust' when the outer engine cylinders open up and air reverses so that the plane slows down, and with the help of flaps and breaks, it stops quickly :)
Not entirely true. The brakes do most of the work, along with the spoilers. The thrust reverse is simply to take load away from the brakes, so they don't get to hot, they don't really help with slowing down. This was information from a real world 737 pilot, it applies to all aircraft.
Lol what did you say? Actually the reverse thrusters are not needed at all but for a safe procedure they are needed they do nothing spoilers flaps and brakes would be enough reverse thrusters were too slow down the wind speed so it won't just skid off overrunning
@@j4cko56 Hope it is Mentour ; )
rumor has it that till this day the brakes are still burning..
Aspect ratio of this video- made it look like 777-900EEER!
I know right dude
Zickcermacity
You know the "ER" only means "Extended Range" and not Extra long.
Sir: Exactly how DUMB do you think I am?? Certainly not as DUMB as YOU for ASS-uming what I think ER stands for.
Jag: You and Aviation Nut need to get a clue. The image is DISTORTED in the horizontal direction, making the plane look longer than it really is. So I jokingly added a variant to describe what I thought it looked like. But go on calling names Jag. Whole lotta good it does.
Adelaide: Extended Range means longer travel distance between fillups.
the 777...so beautiful!
787 is my favorite :)
A350
bacharuddin adieb pratama no
Bernie, it really is!! and VERY reliable/safe :-)
my favourite is A350-900 xwb
That's what happens when you go Max Autobrake
The plane stops faster
Hearing birds chirping in these airport videos makes me nervous.
And I thought widescreen was bad...
This was a *short landing not a "fast landing" | MAN
Also what's up with the resolution?
Antonluisre
it's 4k
Mizzy UK
A potato with "4K" slapped on it.
Antonluisre lol that's how it started off and I was like wtf then it cleared out to 4k resolution
LOL!!! I could hear the brakes! starting at 0:34- 0:39. Must have been a light weight flight, he/she did not even use full reversers, just opened them.
Wait, you think an aircraft with powerful hydraulic brakes can't stop quickly when it's carrying weight? Ok, this plane might have not been carrying lots of weight, but even if it was, it still would have stopped pretty quickly
All I can say is Beautiful Landing.
it looked like the pilots kept the nose of the plane up for as long as possible to create extra drag and stop the plane faster. that's why i think it stopped so quickly
+TTGa Nope. Most likely they had very little fuel and payload, requiring a lower approach speed (probably around 130 knots)
I think the emirian pilot saw a goat in the farm next to the airport that's why he stoppedd the plane quick to get off it and go to the goat and sleep with it
Emirian?? Bro...
Mr. Leopard I know what you mean . Most emirians are stupid rich big ass loosers
It`s true
same like qatar . Saudia Kuwait etc
You mean Emirish?
