アニメ進撃の巨人の数少ない欠点は、この神曲があまりに早い時期に出来てしまったこと。完結編後編のEDでも良かった。
この曲エレン視点の曲だから個人的には最終回のミカサ視点の曲で大正解だと思ってる

@@mr.lag1secondago124 I honestly wish everybody, and I mean *everybody* died. Eren kills off everyone, he’s the only one left alive, but in the end, he realized he did it all for nothing. It wasn’t worth it. For a very dark story, a very dark and tragic, non-bitter sweet ending would fit it more imo. Like “The Mist” movie. Originally, Isayama wanted the ending to be like that, but he changed it. I just feel like it would’ve suited the story and plot better. Everybody just dies in the end because of Eren, and in the end, Eren realized it was all for nothing.

こんなにコメントがあって、これが誰かの目に留まるとは思えないけど、こんな歴史的な名作の最期に対して、何も言わずには居られない。
1期EDと並べれば進んでいくエレンをミカサが必死に追い掛けている構図になるし、残酷な世界で生きる意味の答えをこの曲が教えてくれた。
ミカサのエレンに対する愛が目立っていたけど、それよりも遥かにエレンの方がミカサを愛していて、そして仲間を大切にしていた。勿論、愛の大きさなんて比べる物では無いけれど.....。
良い仲間に囲まれて、調査兵団という居場所では、エレンは本当に幸せだったと思う。
でも世界はそれを許してくれなかった。
仲間に恵まれて、世界に恵まれなかった。
この世界でも、生きてて辛いとか、もう消えたいとか思う事五万とあるけど.....いや、あるからこそこの曲でこんなにも泣いてしまうんだと思う。
この世界に生まれてきて、それだけで偉いって言ってくれる人も居るのに、社会や世界はただ生きるだけの事を許容してくれない。
自由に、好きな事で生きていける人はほんのひと握りなのと同じように、私達も世界と折り合いを付けながら、辛いとか、苦しいとか思いながらも、些細な幸せを見付けて、見付けようとして生きている。
全てを視てしまったエレンがどれほど辛かっただろうか。
全部、全部未来の自分に導かれてた人生で、そしてその結末は仲間に殺されることで、それ以外の道は見付けられなかった。
エレンの苦しみはエレンにしか分からないものだけれど、きっと私達もそういった自分と世界との間にある壁に対して苦しんでもがいてる。
だからその苦しみの一端だけでも、理解できるんだと思う。

本当に大好きな作品で、そんな作品にこんなに美しい曲が作られた事が嬉しくて、同時に何とも形容し難い感情が湧いてきて涙が止まらなくなるんです.....。
「物語を最後まで知っているから泣ける」というのは、エレンが「この先の結末を全て知ってしまった」事にも通じているなと、自らのコメントを読み返して改めて思いました。
また、「壁の外に人類が居ると知ってガッカリした」と言うのも、子供の頃は様々な夢や希望に溢れていたのに大人になるにつれて「現実」を知ってしまい絶望(ガッカリ)してしまう事に通じているなと。
だからこそ、エレンが地ならしをしている時の姿は、夢と希望に満ち溢れた子供の姿だったんだろうなと思っています。
北欧神話を軸に、第一次世界大戦辺りの世界観で戦争の物語が繰り広げられていますが、エレンという1人の人間、他にも、ミカサ、アルミン、コニーやジャン、サシャ、リヴァイ兵長にハンジさん、ライナー、ベルトルト、アニ、皆1人の人間で、それぞれに人生があり必死に生きてきました。
全く違う世界、違う物語のようで、皆私達と同じなんですよね.....。
だからこそ泣ける。
サビ前に、鳥籠に囚われた鳥が光となって散り堕ちてくる時、音が不意に無くなる瞬間が、私にはどうしても、地ならしの、鳥籠のエレンの零した涙に見えて仕方が無いのです。
この曲を聴く前は、最終話は1期のEDを持ってくるかな、とか思っていたんですが、もう何も言えないほどに完璧な最期を飾る、素晴らしい大好きな曲だなと思いました。
長々と申し訳ありません。

"Don't cry about the destiny we were born with." The fact that the line here is capturing Eren's iconic line "Because I was born into this world," but also giving everyone in the world a message to be happy where they are is chilling.
One other beautiful detail in this ending is how Eren never once looks back, and keeps walking forward until the very end. However, when his goal is seemingly achieved he looks back and then fades away. The symbolism in the ending is incredible.

自分の中で勝手に進撃の巨人の本当のフィナーレEDだと思ってる。
これだけ壮大に、パーソナルに、切なくエレンの信念と心象を表現した曲はない。
映像も本当に素晴らしくて、、ラストにエレンがふっと消えてしまうところは泣きじゃくりたくなる。ヒグチさんの原作愛、理解が凄い。

@@oyen7899 Imo, it seems more to me that that scene-where eren holds the knife-is symbolizing eren taking on a bigger world as his past makes a huge impact on him. The lyrics, well, they revolve all around the people he loves, however, as you said, a bit more towards mikasa. This ed is basically the answers to mikasa’s questions in the ed from season 1. Which imo, going back and forth through the lyrics, the answers don’t seem to be strictly for mikasa, especially the “you.” This is my opinion though, I just see this ed this way rather than strictly eren’s words for mikasa like most people do.
its been 24 hours but this ED still breaks me. Eren's character of wanting to have freedom and live a long life with everyone is very tragic as the moment he was born, his life was already fated to end in an early age without experiencing the freedom he fought for all his 19 years of life.

Their is a lot of symbolism in this ending. Even is the bird trying to escape the cage. In this case, it is his attempt to escape the oppression and hate of the world. This cage has always remained for Eren. It was first the Titans, then the walls, Marley, the Eldian war, and now he just wants to be free. Free from this world of hatred, war, and suffering. He just wants to end it all, the world may view him as a monster but such is the price of freedom. Liberation will always be brought by a rebel.

Eren is constantly being seen as a child wishing to be free with such youthful curiosity. His arms are always outstretched or he is seen running with Armin and Mikasa.
In "Red Swan", teen Eren stands motionless with his back facing the screen. Little Eren bumps into him, barely moving the adolescent version with a gaze remaining fixed...forward. I always interpreted that Eren finally realized what must be done and what the consequences of his actions.
Here, I believe Eren is walking on Paradise far into the future and even Marley because I could've sworn I saw Helos statue?
He is truly free knowing he was able to save the ones he loved, protected and sacrificed. It was worth it in the end, even if he only delayed the inevitable. Also, I thought the same with the bird. Eren wants to escape, or perhaps he is singing it to Ymir..his people, his family. His love is his greatest strength.
I also thought 0:45 was intriguing because it looks like an eye...and then the scene changes. Eren has now seen the true world through the Founders eyes perhaps?
I think the frame of the bird at the top of the cage symbolizes the paths and how Eren becoming the founding titan has become his new cage. Like in the Mikasa OVA in the first season, Eren is going to die whatever timeline he's in, and there's nothing anyone (especially Mikasa) can do to stop it. He wants to be free.

I think the bird in a cage is a reference to Vögel Im Kafig, a song used a lot in the earlier seasons which translates to Bird in a Cage, hence the symbolism

今までの集大成感やばいな、小学生の頃毎週月曜日になるの待ってちみちみ見てたアニメがこんな感じで結末を迎えるって、MVの中にあった街に草木が生えてきてる感じもアニメの中だけじゃなくて現実でも時間が経ってる感じがして泣けてくる。10年かけて伏線全部回収できる作者さんも凄いしこんなに綺麗な作画で進撃の巨人をリアルタイムで見れたことが最高だわ

ここ数ヶ月で進撃の巨人を見始めてた新規です。この間アニメを最後まで観ました。もともと進撃見る前からこの曲はなんとなく知ってはいましたが、アニメ全て見終わってから再度この曲を聴くとめっちゃ泣けます…😭もっと早く進撃の巨人と出会っていたかったです。

You guys are really naive. The name of the song is, "The child of evil." And the lyrics speak about loving and protecting someone even if the world is cruel. The lyrics also say "If we don't have a place to return to, we won't be able to go anywhere". This basically means that this time in the anime, Eren will have a famiy with historia. He didn't have a family with her in the manga or didn't have anything to return to, so he didn't have the will to continue living. In the anime, he has a child with Historia so he'll actually have a family to come back to, even after all the genocide he commits. Who is the child of evil you may ask? It's Eren's and Historia's child obviously. They both are pretty much evil. It basically means a child born out of evil.
"Even if I sacrifice everything, I will protect you." This can't be Eren saying this to Mikasa because she was in danger the entire time because of the rumbling. the word "everything" means the whole world. Eren is going to sacrifice the entire world just to protect his one and only child.
In the manga Historia shouts at Eren, telling him that he's mistaken to do the rumbling. and Eren replies through these lyrics, "Even if this is a mistake, I don't doubt it." 1:12

Eren and Mikasa's love story was actually presented through the songs. The anime was action-packed that they did not show much romance between them but with the beautiful music and songs played in the anime we can see and feel all the love that they had for each other. Especially Eren. He always seemed so dense when it comes to his feelings towards Mikasa except the final chapter when he told Armin everything. So I feel like he genuinely loves her but he only failed to show his love for her. Pretty understandable because they lived in a messed up world. So Eren's confession about his love for Mikasa was not out of character at all. Throughout the anime, he always defended Mikasa and at the very end he sacrificed his life for her. I really love AOT/SNK from the beginning until the end. Thank you so much to all the people who worked hard for this masterpiece. Amazing!!!!

when eren is in the bird cage , he is surrounded by poppies which symbolise death , eternal sleep and remembrance to fallen soldiers. when he is released from the cage he is stood in a field of wildflowers which commonly symbolise happiness and joy. the scene also heavily features campanula’s which mean everlasting love.

Edit: POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT, IM EXPLAINING THE POSSIBLE REASON SO TREAD CAREFULLY.
the explanation is that here, Eren takes hold of Mikasa’s scarf and you notice an adult version of him walking through the “clean” flourished garden ALONE with the palace broken.
This tells you that eren, in this ending, Eren would have killed off everyone, and holds on to Mikasa’s scarf as a memory of her, and the series ends with historia and MAYBE Eren’s child, a newborn Ymir, the first free child. It was the last panel Isayama drew and you can check his Instagram. but obviously the ending was changed for the manga, so eren died and everyone lived, the imagery here and the postulated original “dark ending” would basically show the opposite, where everyone is killed off harshly, for a reborn, free world. As the newborn child is the first free child, Eren is basically all alone as you see in the garden, and the kingdom is over (look inside the palace it’s broken). The cycle is finally broken.

The more accurate translation is actually “Devil Child” which I think is more fitting. Eren was never evil by nature, no one is which is one of the core messages of this series.

Eren's scarf turned into flying bird which symbolizes freedom. So basically Mikasa's thanking eren at the end for wrapping his scarf to her means she was thanking eren for giving her freedom.
The end of my childhood will be marked by the end of attack on titan. still can't believe an absolute masterpiece of an anime is coming to an end, its like seeing something you grew up with become old and walk alone
