Both are great but the studio version is so much dramatic with the horns, flute, drums, electric guitar, violins, chamber pop like production, like DAMN it’s too much going on, in a good way.
One of my favorite differences between the two versions of this album is the harmonies and adlibs in the studio version. I'm with you, I absolutely love Long Pond and the raw, emotional vocals Taylor gives us, but her and her producers have a real knack for vocal layering and beautiful, creative, sometimes unexpected harmonies on the studio tracks, and they do it without going overboard (usually). Itches something in my brain juuuust right. I think the Dali in the Last Great American Dynasty is referring to Salvador Dali (the artist), not the Dalai Lama. Until I saw it written, I thought she was referring to Dolly Parton.
15:52 Not the Dalai Lama 💀 Taylor was referencing Salvador Dalí, a postmodern artist who was known for his surrealism, among other talents and styles (if the words "melting clocks" makes the image of a painting pop into your mind, that is one of Dalí's works).

This is already my favorite track off of folklore (and my second favorite track 5 overall after YOYOK) and in my top 5 TS songs but the more I see about it the more I appreciate the song. This discovery is just INCREDIBLE and makes me have even more of an appreciation for the song than I already do. There are no words to describe how passionate I am about this song's topic. EVERY artist deserves to own their art (by art I mean the master recordings (masters))
Man the instrumental in August just takes me somewhere, I don’t know where but it’s warm and it’s beautiful! 💕 great reaction as always! I love the lps versions but I think I prefer the album versions in most cases as I love the fullness of the instruments and the layering and ad libs she can do with the vocals
I was so glad to see you show up today. I recently introduced someone to Taylor Swift and I was telling her which reactors she should go to. You were one of them, but I had not seen a posting for quite some time so I wasn't sure if you were still doing them. Luckily I have you as a favorite so I was able to hook her up! I always enjoy your reactions.
I think it’s extremely cool that you are only listening to the studio version now. Makes your perspective very unique and made me very interested in your commentary.
When I heard Cardigan on LPS, I felt like her past love abandoned her or hurt her by coming in and out of her life, not committing fully, and this person haunted her for years. The old cardigan was something cast aside and used when you dig it out from under the bed, then forgotten again til next season. In the studio version, it was still a lost love that was kept secret, but it felt more warm & nostalgic. The old cardigan was something always there and provided comfort. That’s the vibe I got anyway.
Did Jim do a Long Pond Studio reaction? I haven't been able to find it. Really enjoyed this knowledgeable reaction. I subscribed and will be joining Jim's Patreon. Thanks❤
This is my favorite album of hers. Reputation is a close second. Cardigan is my favorite TS song. I do love all the Long Pond Studio Session versions, but on that one in particular…I fell in love with the original. Exile and My Tears Ricochet are unbeatable with that emotion at the Long Pond session.
I enjoy your reactions so much, your musical production knowledge base gives you such a deep understanding of things I just enjoy, and teach me so much. Here’s one thing I can maybe share with you, in Last Great American Hero, she was playing cards with artist, Salvador Dali, not the Dali Lama.
I love the reaction but I can’t do the background music. 😅 I’m pretty sure that “Dali” in The Last Great American Dynasty is referring to Salvador Dali.
Cardigan has to be the best folk song ever written. I cannot get enough of it. I lterally love everything about it and I love singing it. It's so perfect. 💖💖
On his patreon. He reacted to it twice: first time a year ago; then he started a DEEP dive into Taylor‘s discography and started from the beginning; he re-listened to it recently.
folklore (studio version) is a perfect album. Long pong studio session is, to me, the superior version and it is more haunting and sad. Depends on the day I can listen to one or the other.
Ooooof, I've always loved your reactions of hers, and I try to sign up for the Patreon whenever I have the means, but this was hands down the best one. It's like I got to listen to this album for the first time again, and it healed a little part of my soul, thanks man. ❤❤🩷🧡🧡💛💛💚💚💙💙🩵💜💜

my tears ricochet is widely understood to be about Scott Borchetta who was in her life from before her first album until he sold her masters to Sccoter Braun. Someone she trusted. The home she can't go back to is her original label. The jewels are her albums.
@@JimGames I figured that was the case! I'm sorry that happened, copyright really is out here doing the most to strike good content and let all kinds of stuff that should get it go
I agree with you about the Long Pond Studio Sessions. I think My Tears Ricochet especially is over produced in this version. The Long Pond was so raw emotionally.
Idk. I think MTR sounds way better in studio version. Especially that production change in the bridge is incredible. And background vocals also make the atmosphere of the song perfect.
Great American Dynasty. Playing cards with the Dalai Lama? lolol. Jim, she was playing cards with _Salvador_ _Dali_ the painter, not the Buddhist leader of Tibet. Fairly factual, except for the green dog. She dyed the neighbor's cat, but Taylor loves cats. Harkness' (3rd) husband was a grandson of John D. Rockefeller's business partner (ie; Standard Oil, Exxon, Mobile, SOHIO, and 34 other oil companies). She was a socialite during the 1930s to 1970s and a patron of performing arts (opera and ballet). Very, very rich widow. Very very much in the gossip pages, like Taylor. Holiday House came on the market about the time she stopped dating Connor Kennedy, and sold her house in Hyannis (Cape Cod). She likes history, and antiques. She also likes buying historical places; her home in Beverly Hills was Samuel Goldwyn's mansion.
I don't usually reply to questionable comments, but I should clarify. When I say raw, I mean in tone and projection. Taylor uses little vocal processing on her studio recordings. In fact, in some instances, I sonically prefer her live performance over her thoroughly mixed and mastered studio versions.
