Me too, so long ago, I could just listen to you for hours and I had just been reflecting on how much you’ve grown and how far you’ve come - I’m so impressed!
Yours turned out really beautiful. I love the colors. You are so right. I (tried to) made a bowl the other night and I waited too long and it did not mold right. I came to your video to see how you did it. Yours really did turn out exceptional. I'm going to try again tonight. Thank you for the pointers.
I appreciate that you let us learn about the stiffness of the resin, and putting the aluminum foil underneath the resin. I'm hoping to do some resin pours soon, so thank you for the instruction.
Completely agree! Sometimes videos make it look so easy and then when you try to do it yourself, you have issues that can be very frustrating. It’s good to see that sometimes it takes trial and error to get the beautiful end result. It’s helpful to see all the steps involved. Can’t wait to try it myself.
I am going to try my first sculpture of resin tomorrow. I am so scared 😨 but yet excited. Have never tried this before an with my resin from the resin store not sure how long to wait.. You did great job. Wish me luck... Thanks for tutorial..💙💜💙
IDEA 1: I've not yet tried resin so don't know if it will work. Take the cardboard cutout piece and trim the edge. Secure it to the center with something heavy to prevent moving but have a piece of doubled-over tape in the center on top. Place your lovely textured rim and when done remove the weights then putting your palm flat on the large-enough piece of tape lift the cardboard straight up. Hopefully that will provide the rim you want by using pieces at hand. IDEA 2: Instead of tinfoil what about using inverted plastic bottles. You can cut the neck to get the height you want and wrap the bottom, now the top, to get a round shape if it's needed. Put in place and tape to table, lazy-susan is handy. IDEA 3: Plastic bottle right-side up. Trim top to fit and hold any size ball such as tennis or pet/child's toy found in most dollar stores. Tape ball around edge to secure. Tape bottle to table to prevent tipping. Hopefully you'll find something useful in my share. If not please know that I'm delighted in sharing a kindness. {{{hugs}}}
Annemarie, the process itself is interesting. ALL of the process. I'm watching this for the first time and I needed to know about the aluminum foil and the tape and the whole nine yards. If you just showed us the fun parts, we wouldn't know what to do when we had to do the icky parts. Thank you for showing ALL of it.
If you use a rubber band and place it around the Resin towards the bottom, it will hold your plastic wrap down and you're resin will get a better shape.
Thank you Annemarie for this video. I've only made one attempt at a resin bowl, and it did not turn out. (not firm enough when draped over vase, resin dripped so much all of the edge glass pieces dripped off. So watching your video and especially the discussion about molding times etc. has been very helpful. Fingers crossed for next time.
You should wear respiratory regardless. And my throat is a result of it 3 years in a room ventilated never smelt in the epoxy but today back on my throat and my sinuses are damaged
Very nice..... I have not had to use tape at all.... I put another piece of plastic on top. N they just lay on whatever I put them on... Maybe people wait till almost cured?
@@annemarieridderhof I believe that all artists have a medium. It's finding your medium and learning what to do with it that takes you from interest to artist. My particular medium is yarn or string or ribbon--anything that is one strand and then turning it into a fabric that can be used to make practical, yet beautiful, wearable art. However, I also believe that some artists can realize their gifts through more than one medium. You are incredibly talented. I loved your bowl. Are your renderings on Etsy or do you have your own website? I would love to see more of what you have done.
The next one you make leave the plastic on top again and try putting some tape around that to hold it round for you. I just thought of that as I watch your video.

Absolutely beautiful but don’t think that because it doesn’t “stink” you don’t need a respirator. You should use a respirator when working with resin. The mixing of the two parts together causes a chemical reaction. Breathing in these fumes causes damage. You may not see or feel it right away but over time it will cause problems! It may be odourless but it’s not harmless. It’s so important for artists doing tutorials with resin to emphasize using a respirator. People tend to not do enough research and don’t even know that they should be using one. Especially when people doing tutorials say it’s not needed! It’s always better to be safe than sorry period.

you can actually tape around the edge of the bowl to form it, much easier, as the tape won't stick to the resin
or just lay it in a bowl
