"The car has now around 290hp"... 5 min later "it's on race mode you are running around 300hp". Standalone ECU and a proper tune is still the most efficient way of getting power out of your car.
@@jjmmjj9999 10 hp can be a great difference in feel with the right set-up and the sound of the engine and torque and hp line can benefit a lot, power delivery can change a lot by just a tune or map
I purchased a race chip for my Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2.5td a few years back. It cured the terrible turbo lag the vehicle had from the factory, which is what the chip was bought for, and made it great to drive. One downside - the diesel filter did not particularly like the increased fuel pressure, so the paper element inside kept collapsing. So in a nutshell, the two week development period per vehicle doesn’t quite cover everything.
@@stubones I respect that, but this video was meant to justify the use of their chips. When you don't add any statistics to you up, for this scenario, it's not really justifying anything.
I bought mid tier racechip with bluetooth access for my Audi a3 1.6TDI, the difference is amazing, the car dropped 2s of 0-60mph just by selecting race mode, you can feel the difference. Since I was going home to europe through Germany in autobahn i turned off racechip completely, reset all dials and drove for 10minutes on dynamic mode i was averaging 5.0L/100KM and then stopped at gas station and turned on race mode and did same 10 minute straight drive on constant 130km/h speed got 4.6L/100KM i mean I am happy with the purchase.
@@InternetUser3157 I kinda believe It works ... I am more scared of engine lifetime that could be shortened. I have 1.4 T-jet 120PS engine with 100 000 miles on it
@@tomaszahradka8580 well i wouldn't risk putting that in 100k myself, but this is something to consider when changing a car, it gives that extra boost most cars need, you basically get a bmw without receiving bmw driver label
Okay so let me put this all in a nutshell for anyone who is still confused between going for a performance chip or software reflash Racing chip is off shelf performance chip thats made for a plug and play purpose This means its a entry level way of doing software Benching/reflash of the actual ECU gives you more access to alterations which means that you adjust your software to make full use of any bolt on mod such as Downpipe, Intake, Full Exhaust, Big Turbo/Hybrid Turbo, bigger HPFP and so forth Performance chips are limited to making full use of bolt on mods so therefor you will NOT obtain the best results when using it with extra mods If you inly want software with stock components then the performance chip will be perfectly fine For the next level guys such as myself who enjoys modding the actual motor with bolt ons then software is your only way forward if you want the best results
So fine for my domestic appliance peugoet 207 sw 1.6 tdi 90hp ... who really really wants it up from 90hp to 120/30 hp to stop the very real danger of falling asleep at the wheel due to bordem!
Well it's also pretty usefull for those that live in countries with very strict periodic emissions testing. Just unplug it before the test in an almost VW way.
2-3 year RaceChip user here. Firstly the pros: Bought one for my wife's JagXF2.2d(190hp400nm). It should give a theoretical maximum 240hp500nm. You definetely feel the extra torque. It's not a HUGE difference, but it's enough for you to actually feel it. Fuel economy works too, but only as long as you actively drive eco. On a 130 km extra urban trip I drove with 80-120 kph speeds and got a 5.1l/100km. That's 1.9TDI numbers on a ~200hp 2 tonnes car. But if you drive sporty, it will eat more fuel than before chip. The bad: it's isolated to my car I think. I have to unplug it during winter because it makes the car act weird. It pretty often occurs than when I step on the gas, there's no boost for a second or so... and then BAM, full 500nm! Rear wheels spinning, screeching, pedestrians looking at me. Not what I want on a winter morning at 7am. I think the car's ecu has a warmup profile for when it's really cold outside and the chip doesn't know what to do and goes all crazy. Or maybe it just doesn't work when it's freezing outside.
Your correct the car has 100s of different maps for different driving conditions , different atmospheric pressure, temps. The tuning box can only change sensor values it doesn't think about all the other maps needed for safety it changes everything can sometimes be very bad.
Been a 2 year user now I can say I don't notice much difference with the GTS anywhere but maybe in Higher Revs, I wouldnt spend 400 dollars on it again, but the XTC throttle controler was a definate upgrade in the fun factor, plus I can seriously detune the throttle for anyone else driving it.
in the video they made about the 330d in 2018 you could see a warmup toggle on the app in the video. maybe thats just for the gts im not sure but i saw it in that video
A few years ago I put one of these tuning box things in a Ford Focus 2.0 tdci. It was great for a while, but started developing stating problems. I called the AA out to have a look when it broke down at work and they diagnosed a EGR valve problem. I took the tuning box out, and had no problems immediately afterwards. Put it back in and a few days later started developing the same problems again. I'm not a mechanic, so don't know the technicals here, but that is my experience with a tuning box. Would certainly not install one in my 335d after that experience.
I don't know why people hate on tuning boxes... I've had a few and Dyno tested them- mini f56 JCW made 280bhp 290lbft. Mk 7.5 golf GTi performance pack made 290bhp 320lbft. Both significant increases felt on the road and proven on the Dyno for just a couple hundred quid.
Tuning boxes are good, had both and for bolt on mods a chip tune is ideal. If you have bigger injectors, intake etc etc then get a custom remap as it's needed. Factory engines with basic mods then go for a tuning box
I have a Golf variant TDI 2.0T with an installed Racechip. I've used it on and off because i take it off to take it to the dealer services (so it won't avoid the warranty) I'm very happy with it. The car is a lot more faster, responsive and fun to drive and it saves me a 10% diesel consumption when it's on. So it pays for itself as well.
Ive had a RaceChip on my Merc 2.2d for the last 2yrs and its been great. Only 25bhp extra, but 50NM more torque which really transforms the car from stock. Best thing, is in normal driving MPG is not effected.
Just completed a 4 year Uni study into automotive engineering: This seems like bullshit to me, the best thing they could be doing is tricking the ECU to think there is lambda 1 instead of 1.2 or smh. The implications if an engine goes just slightly wrong, has a litre of crappy fuel one day, and you're asking for issues. There are so many reasons to dyno every car not to make one chip for every car if you want the best out of it. Since every engine is different OEMs give some headroom for the stock map and also test it before it gets sold. Saying that one car can map every other is bs.
I was sceptical aswell, I bought one for my 208 GTi and sadly had a horrible experience. It made the car think it was constantly overheating and thus putting itself into limp mode. (quite a scary feeling) I got rid of it after it happened every single time I drove it for more than 10 minutes. Luckily I purchased the cheapest option, still 200 euros down the drain though.
@@jefhallo5566 Yo, so just for future reference for yourself (I'm on my fourth heavily modified vehicle), there are many steps to ensure you've done before affecting your ECU tune (chip, Dyno or road tune), the most important being health checks of your engine, tuning is relatively inexpensive per vehicle but the vehicle maintenance before and after is crucial to a long life after a tune. Get a major service (the two year one) regardless of when your last service was, get your belts done if you can't remember when the were done last off the top of your head or if it was more than 20k miles ago, yes they have a lot of life left, but, your about to chuck more power through your engine, don't risk it. When getting your belt done, get your water pump changed, it should be done every other belt change but people forget and it's so so important. Use premium oil (research on forums and owner clubs the best brand recommended for your exact engine), use fuel additives to clean your engine (or get an engine clean professionally), if you're using a diesel then get the EGR Valve cleared of the inevitable thick layer of soot and oil, check your turbo bearings (if you have one), check your coolant with check strips and if you're going for a lot more power then I'd recommend getting a head gasket change. This will basically triple the price of your tune, but, you aren't getting a car tuned to last maybe a year right? So best to take the time and money to a long life from your vehicle than chose the cheaper ways and regret the decision, there are many things you can scrimp on when modifying your vehicle's but things like big power gain mods are expensive because they have the power to kill your car quickly if not done correctly and by a proper professional or experienced person. Be kind to your car, it doesn't matter if people call it names, it's your baby, pamper it with expensive gifts! Peace
I'm surprised people were upset about the piggy back. They work great. I have an 07 335i and I'm running a jb4 (piggy back) and an mhd flash tune. Never been on a dyno but the car runs great. Mostly just use the jb4 for no lift shift and gauges
I have the same thing in my ML500 and my wife’s C250, probably made by these guys but badge differently and the actually make quite a difference. Definitely work.
Spencer they do work, they whole video was a mess though, I have one on my si and my buddy has his in his mustang gt and both have been dynoed and seen improvements
The big benefit of this box is the app, and being able to make changes quickly and easily via an app. I prefer a remap, but I can see the appeal of the Race Chip box. A lot of boxes are just simple junk in a fancy box, though.
I’ve had a RaceChip install in my BMW 428i (up to 280HP) and my new VW Arteon (up to 335HP), the power increase and torque is bloody amazing. Arteon runs 0-60 in about 4.4seconds. Also it’s not just the Power increase that matters, for me the real win which works so well is the increased torque. I’d highly recommend RaceChip, it’s definitely legit and there’s solid customer support (at least in Australia where I live). 👍

@@DuBstep115 I presume you've heard of catalysts and DPF's. They drastically reduce the flow of exhaust gasses through the system by having a huge filtering mass. Many cars have Pre-cats, further effecting the flow of air through an engine. Removing them or replacing them with 'race cats' makes a monumental difference with an aftermarket ECU.
I have a racechip on my 1.2 tsi polo, it was $350aud, the cheapest proper dyno tune that I could find in my area was $1000aud. I ran it at the local drag strip completely stock and it ran a 16.9, it was a reasonably cold night, roughly 15 degrees. I fitted the racechip and a cheap cat back exhaust/ hot air intake and ran a 15.9 at the same drag strip on a considerably hotter night, approximately 30 degrees. So these do work. I’ve had it fitted for about 40000km so far and no issues, doesn’t overfuel and oil is still clean between oil changes.
Performance chips can actually get you a significant performance boost on turbo cars, or cars that have been significantly de tuned. However something like an NA car will see literally no difference no matter what you put on it.
You get very little on an na engine without supporting mods You need proper hardware like intake exhuast and thing like hot cams and valve spring to make proper power on an na engine
So... just to say my opinion as a Race Chip "user": I have got an 118i F20 LCI and I use the Race Chip GTS. I have been saving up to 1,5 liters of fuel per 100 km since I installed it and you can really feel the more power the engine makes. I am really happy with my chip and I would never want to remove it. And now: Let the sh*tstorm begin!
@@nowiplay2 Hi GC, I sold the car about a year ago and used the chip until the very end. I drove around 50k kilometres having the Racechip installed and I never had any problems. But: I changed the engine oil every 10k just to give myself a better feeling that nothing will break 😉
you cant dyno one car... and fit the ecu to another. Wear and tear of sensors.. 1 coolant sensor can read 50c and same sensor from different car can read 55c... This is same for CLT/AT/TPS/Map they all have there own unique settings based on wear and tear. You Can gain power for a engine but not its optimal power... you need a ECU like OMEX/Megasquirt ect ect and live mapping sessions. Please get a aftermarket ecu on the bmw and get a proper rolling tune and compare it to racechips results.
What you have said is true but that's not the point of race chip. They make it simple to improve the performance of a stock car within the manufacturer tolerances. They aren't going to be able to 'max' it like you could with a custom ECU or flash tune. Nor would it work as effectiviely if you have other performance mods like a decat. Its designed for a standard car. A lot of people PCP or lease cars these days so this makes total sense to those people and that market.
@@TurboPeeen Besides i've owned a bunch of turds i wanted to make a bit faster that were never worth putting on a rolling road. For sod all i've got free performance. Value for money is a thing. Doesn't matter if it isn't perfect.
yeah, but don't forget that the stock ECU is not tuned on a per-car basis, it's a copy/paste of a tune the manufacturer made and it works doesn't it? If the car is built to specification and stock as it came from the factory, there's no reason for there to be a different enough reading from sensors to justify what you're saying unless your car isn't running correctly...
I put a Racechip in my B6 2.0 tdi Passat back in 2011. I was a super sceptic.... bit the change in output was night and day. I couldn't believe it. The car is still going strong 8 years later (my brother in law bought it off me), and it kicks my B8 2.0 tdi a$$ considerably in terms of power and speed. What was even more surprising is that my fuel economy on highway trips was unreal, highway runs became around 4.5 litres per 100 km. I'll seriously consider a Racechip for future tunes, I believe the bang for buck is probably better than a paid ECU tune
I did a dyno run on my Golf R MK 7.5 before and after installing RaceChip GTS Black, stock was 327HP (surprise!) and 411Nm, RaceChip on Race Mode: 387 HP and 502 Nm which is pretty spot on to what they've promised (390 HP, 512Nm). Fuel consumption is difference is negligible (like 0,5 liter / 100 km in favor of RaceChip).
I've had a race chip in my 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, in my 2021 Toyota supra, and in my 2019 Honda Civic type R. All worked flawlessly and never gave me a bit of trouble.
This video title isn't right at all. How can you call this video "The Truth About RaceChip Tuning Boxes" when they've paid you? The video title should just be "Testing RaceChip Tuning Boxes".
My problem with Race Chip is that it gave my vehicle less power and torque then stock. absolute waste of money. I never felt a difference and finally had the car on a dyno and saw the figures with the race chip plugged in and taken out.(vehicle is a 2007 Nissan Nivara 2.5)
That is how a company should share product information! I don't wan't to modify my car, but if I did... well, this has sold me on the product. Obviously a little more research is in order, but this looks good.
I've seen first hand the level of durability testing and tuning that goes into modern engine development. A company who spend 1-2 weeks fiddling with the fuelling then sign it off would worry me. The biggest question that I would love to see answered, is what is the effect on emissions? Take a car, add a chip and run it through the WLTP or whatever cycle is relevant to that cars development. I mean a real emissions test cycle though, not just an MOT check.
0:32 "...to their HQ in Stuttgart!" *pans out to show an Alpine with Göppingen (GP) numberplates, after an opening sequence filmed just outside Göppingen. Continues with every single driving shot showing cars with GP numberplates, and the Hohenstaufen in the background.* Stuttgart? Yeah, nah, mate.
No one knows or cares where Goeppingen is. Stuttgart is literally 30 kilometers away. If someone from Watford wants to say they're from London to literally anyone except people who live in the area, that's entirely valid.
A racechip is a perfect first step into tuning. Many benefits and ease of operation. If you go FBO (full bolt on) then you will need a specific tune, for which there are many possibilities But for a stock car this is great. I ran one for a few years on my stock E60 525d until I got a bigger turbo. People talking bad about racechip are just trolls that repeat each other. Of course a really good tuning company will do a better job, but a racechip is not bad and just so convenient.
I tried two racechips on my M235 about 4 years ago. The first one had a big stutter when driving steady at 60mph and you gently rolled throttle on. So tried another thinking it was faulty box.....BUT...exact same issue, so i removed and sold it on, wasn't impressed. I now have M4 Comp running 543 bhp on a proper custom map, smooth no issues. Still you you cant beat a custom mapped tweaked on rollers while you wait.
Happened to a piggyback that I bought for a Golf 1.4tsi too, not Race Chip but similar sort of company offering box tuned in Germany; stuttering, sudden spike in turbo boost, ecu detecting a fault after sometimes (piggyback removed, no ecu problem), later on fried something in the fusebox... not impress with these piggyback tune box.
I bought race chip for toyota hiace 2009, firm car. I used that for 1 year. Chip is working really good. Problems i had was on -24 in winter, it was going in protection. Should stand in some warmer place. Car is accelerating really good, using less diesel. Still working good, didn`t have any other problems.
I put a blue spark box in my car (320D). It works. Anyone who denies it is an idiot. The car is definitely more powerful, has much less turbo lag and when cruising, it’s more economical. Under acceleration it drinks like an alcoholic though. Sure it’s plug and play/generic etc but it is affordable and it works.
Maybe on diesels, it actually works as the makers have to limit the particulate output? Maybe these mods know when they are being tested and cheat the tests (like VW did). About time governments looked into this...
@@andrewnorris5415 It works because diesel cars are turbo cars and mostly common rail injection. So you have 3 easy ways to make more power. 1.more boost 2. Raise the fuel pressure 3. Increasing injector open time.
Companies like APR: *provide standardised "one size fits all" ecu remaps, not tailored to each individual car* Everyone: yes, APR is a solid, respectable company. With dyno runs and other performance figures to proove it. Race Chip: *does literally the exact same thing but with piggyback ECUs* Everyone: "Chip tuning is a waste of money, it's a scam and isnt the most effective way to get more power out of an engine"
I mean atleast we know racechip is more legit than most other tuning chips. But still it ain't as good as a tune (especially when the biggest spec racechip costs the same as an actual dyno tune I could get from a local tuning place) you gotta remember it only tricks the ecu into thinking there's not enough boost and not enough fuel. Also they have no way of controlling timing, they just let the ecu correct it with the knock sensors and other way of the ecu to self adjust. And I don't think I have to explain too much, but basically letting a computer choose how much timing to run all the time can end up pretty bad. (the timing correction stuff in the ecu is made for extreme cases like heat soak and stuff like that but with chips it pulls timing 100% of the time, and it's definitely not made to be used everytime.)
Notice, they don't go into any details on what connections are done in the engine and what ECU parameters are used. Any modern ECU is a large collection of tables where you set boost, ignition, fuel, and hundreds of other variables as a function of RPM. Even if you FORCE the ECU to run more fuel or boost by changing the values it sees from one of its sensors, it will try to compensate and go back to its default target values. Modern ECUs adapt! For example, on my RS, specific torque targets is what limits boost, so whether it takes 15 or 20 psi to reach said torque limit, that's what the ECU will do. So in the summer when it's hot, it might run more boost but still hits the same target torque. How is race chip going around that? Race Chips don't work. period. Put the car on the dyno and shows us the before and after, and show us what the ECU is doing.
They don´t have to go into details about it: You can easily see it for yourself in the 330d video. The harness has 3 connectors: 2x 3Pin for the railpressure sensor(in/out) and one multipin for the box. Therefore they access to 3 pins - 1)ground 2)sensor+ and 3)+5V.
Race Chip really works( i have instaled on my abarth) . but it's not so safe . manipulates the turbo pressure sensors, increasing the turbine pressure, changing Afr so the mixture will be poorer, increasing the chances of engine knoack. I only use it with 98, 100 octane fuel to reduce the chances of knoack
def thinking about getting a racechip for a 2018 elantra sport, seems like the perfect middle ground of some performance gains without having to do real work on the car
i love how out of the 7 "negative comments" 2 of them are repeats, 1 is simply talking about doing a service on the car, 1 is nicely asking for an mpg comparison, 1 is asking about emmisions and only 2 of them are acutal negative comments.
Real owner of GTS and not sponsored/paid by anyone. I've used the GTS on the following cars: X3 M40i, Audi A7, F90 M5, and Volvo SC90. Without doubt, these units add power and do so in a safe manner. I've conservatively put 80,000 miles across these cars with the chip installed and set aggresively and have had zero issues. If you have a relatively stock car and want more power, this is the easiest way to do it. If you have a highly modified car, then an ECU tune will likely work better. Best part, it's reversable and NONE of the cars I've taken to the dealer for service were flagged and had warranty issues. Finally, with the GTS, if you switch cars, they will send you a no map at no charge...I took it off the X3 M40 and put it on the M5 with zero issues.
i live VERY nearby the italian firm "chipbox" the basically do the same. i've spoken with both the heads they seem confident and i only had problems with ONE DAMN BMW but they refunded and helped a ton.
First "question" wasn't "does Race Chip use a dyno in their R&D process" but a "suggestion" that you should just tune your own ECU (especially if it's already past warranty) on a dyno, which takes into account your engine condition, all the modifications and allows for a bit more flexibility with whole setup. All those boxes should be tuned after installation to fit the exact car perfectly.
Great vid pal, I bought a racechip for my 265rs Mégane 15plate about 3months ago, my guy from the garage I use wouldn't fit it, he said it would ruin my engine, now watching this I really want it fitted , I bought the 195kw racechip, think it says my gains should be about 34hp, I think you have changed my mind about having it fitted 👍
I wonder if they could increase the performance of a simple naturally aspirated engine, like a Mazda Skyactiv G, without any heavy modification to the car. These chips should be perfectly enough for those who just want a little more oomph, don't want to modify their cars, so it's still resellable later on.
In summary they provide a chip to control the Ecu with your phone to select modes, which can be handy but not for real tuners as it applies to basic stock engines
I used a RaceChip on my GLC43 and it was a total waist of money. GLCs stock power was an equal match match to my brother’s Porsche Macon GTS, after installation of RaceChip runner I expected a slight gain on his car but, there were no differences and I replaced is with CPA.
This is a great advert when trying to prove how good something is you use an independent garage dynamometer then you get a clear picture of the thing as their Dynamometer is set up for them and they even say so
Yes, "little bit" more power. The real chip-tuning (new map for the ECU) is much better because then it works on ALL data. Tuning boxes are limited because they can only manipulate some of the data sent between the ECU and the injectors and (some) sensors there's only so much you can do with that. There are only two advantages of the tuning boxes: flexibility and (usually) price. I got my new program from the company that makes tuning boxes too. And, for example, the tunig box would give me increase only from 90KM and 210Nm to 105KM and 240Nm, and the full new program for the ECU gave me 120KM and 265Nm.
I have a 2017 bmw 540i m sport. My car is speed limiter is @130 mph.I’m wanting to get my car tune but I’m concerned about voiding my warranty. Can I use the racechip without voiding my warranty?
The issue with theese is that they are a canned tune not something thats tailored to your car. There are differance with motors even in stock form so depending on how lucky or unlucky you are you could either withold more power on your engine or in some cases less. a custom dyno tune will ajust all the paramaters and with stuff like ECUTeks RaceROM or alot of similar stuff to that you actually get more features than the stock ECU with a piggy back can do. So yes theese can work but a custom flash tune tailored to your car is going to be better any day.
Sadly my box broke down after 10tkm and the second failed too recently but they wont give me a new one because the warranty doesnt restart if you get an exchange device. 300€ gone for nothing 😒
i had a Vauxhall Vectra C 1.9 cdti 150 for just over 2 years... Ran stock 150bhp power for about 6 months, because of the requirement to open the ECU up to flash it. Well i decided to just go with a tuning box for ease, around the same price as Flash remap, But easier.. Anyway. installed the tuning box, a couple weeks later i had failed injectors. 3 of them... thinking it was just coincidence, i put 4 brand new injectors in it... they lasted around amonth, 2 failed... I then upgraded to Insignia injectors and all was good... for around 1 month again... 2 more failed... So i replaced them again! with stock injectors again and removed the tuning box... NO MORE INJECTOR FAILURES.. I ran it stock again for about 3 months, All spot on.. So decided to scrap that tuning box and go with another company "DTUK"....... got it, installed it.. all good.... 1 week later.. INJECTOR FAILURE... So just bit the bullet and had it flash remapped... never failed an injector after that...
The fact is that you can get more power and be more fuel efficient. The thing is that when the engine is adjusted correctly, it uses optimal amount of fuel which is ignited at the optimal time resulting in better combustion. That's the principle behind more power and better fuel economy. But this video was just a 10 minute ad. EDIT. And because every vehicle is unique, the manufacturer has to approximate the values and timings etc. to work best on a certain tolerance. Remapping just perfects the car.
I decided to do some research myself on a stock 2008 focus st 225bhp . I decided to use the most advertised tuning boxes I could find, race chip GTS £349 claimed 287bhp. Also purchased a tdi tuning box with there £329 top spec box with claimed 278bhp .After Dyno runs I would then do a ECU remap to test results. First i Dyno the car several times with stock ECU from factory and got 217bhp. I then installed the race chip box and allowed the car to run in as the instructions stated. After the same amount of dyno runs as stock ,the best I could get was 249bhp not the 287bhp claimed. Then I did same process with the tdi tuning box and got 252 bhp ,know were near the 278bhp claimed . I Decided to do a ECU flash remap using another commonly used kit from kezz ! The cost of this remap was £199 and was claimed 265 bhp. Once the ECU was flashed I achieved 259bhp on the Dyno. In my case the tuning boxes got know were near the claimed bhp and cost alot more then the remap. It's only the fact of been able to remove the tuning boxes that was in there favour!
I've been driving my 318d with racechip for 5 years+. Inbetween, I've had to take out the box for a year and the car just felt a lot more sluggish. I get up to 51.5 mpg on A roads at 60-70 mph.
You do not save fuel by adding a performance chip. Your car may report better fuel economy because the stock ECU thinks it's using less fuel than it actually is. If you calculate it at the pump, you burn more fuel.

Hi. What year is your pajero and how did you fix the fuel filter problem? Thanks.

Okay so let me put this all in a nutshell for anyone who is still confused between going for a performance chip or software reflash
Racing chip is off shelf performance chip thats made for a plug and play purpose
This means its a entry level way of doing software
Benching/reflash of the actual ECU gives you more access to alterations which means that you adjust your software to make full use of any bolt on mod such as Downpipe, Intake, Full Exhaust, Big Turbo/Hybrid Turbo, bigger HPFP and so forth
Performance chips are limited to making full use of bolt on mods so therefor you will NOT obtain the best results when using it with extra mods
If you inly want software with stock components then the performance chip will be perfectly fine
For the next level guys such as myself who enjoys modding the actual motor with bolt ons then software is your only way forward if you want the best results
So fine for my domestic appliance peugoet 207 sw 1.6 tdi 90hp ... who really really wants it up from 90hp to 120/30 hp to stop the very real danger of falling asleep at the wheel due to bordem!
Truth Hurts spot on 👍 that’s exactly what they are for.
"For next level guys such as myself" ummmm
Well it's also pretty usefull for those that live in countries with very strict periodic emissions testing. Just unplug it before the test in an almost VW way.
CheapBastard1988 you could probably just put the settings back to stock and leave it plugged in I would have thought 🤷♂️

(quite a scary feeling)
I got rid of it after it happened every single time I drove it for more than 10 minutes.
Peace

If the car is built to specification and stock as it came from the factory, there's no reason for there to be a different enough reading from sensors to justify what you're saying unless your car isn't running correctly...
Who the fuck puts aftermarket ecu on modern cars? You can adjust everything on stock ECU

As long as the vehicle passes an emissions test, who cares about emissions output?

A racechip is a perfect first step into tuning. Many benefits and ease of operation.
If you go FBO (full bolt on) then you will need a specific tune, for which there are many possibilities

Everyone: "Chip tuning is a waste of money, it's a scam and isnt the most effective way to get more power out of an engine"
yep
This is a piece of shit
They are known to overboost the fuel rail to the point that injectors fail and then blame you or your car.
I have racechip on my 1.3Mjd linea from 1.8L kms now. No issues till date. Bought in 2011. Amazing company.
If you look @00:29 you can see that the same comments are used twice😂😂
def thinking about getting a racechip for a 2018 elantra sport, seems like the perfect middle ground of some performance gains without having to do real work on the car
Ordered the rs for my 2.0 turbo optima, I hear they’re pretty decent for Hyundai/Kia paired with hks plugs and basic bolt ons
I'm pretty much a sponsored video, but here's the "truth" lol
i love how out of the 7 "negative comments" 2 of them are repeats, 1 is simply talking about doing a service on the car, 1 is nicely asking for an mpg comparison, 1 is asking about emmisions and only 2 of them are acutal negative comments.
Brilliant. This video was all I needed. I'd get exactly what I'm looking for from my beemer and very easy to revert back to stock too. Thank you :-)
Real owner of GTS and not sponsored/paid by anyone.
Still no dyno sheet.
i live VERY nearby the italian firm "chipbox" the basically do the same. i've spoken with both the heads they seem confident and i only had problems with ONE DAMN BMW but they refunded and helped a ton.
At 0:30, there's 2 of Filter 1423 and 2 of Mladen Millic's comments. Is this just to make it seem like theres's more comments?
I noticed it too, seems kinda cheeky but it might just be a mistake
I used a RaceChip on my GLC43 and it was a total waist of money. GLCs stock power was an equal match match to my brother’s Porsche Macon GTS, after installation of RaceChip runner I expected a slight gain on his car but, there were no differences and I replaced is with CPA.
Would STILL rather get an ECU Remap!
These are mostly for people who want to keep their warranty
What a dynamic duo...I bet they test everything on the AUTO-BUN :D
Sadly my box broke down after 10tkm and the second failed too recently but they wont give me a new one because the warranty doesnt restart if you get an exchange device.
300€ gone for nothing 😒
Ohh bad press
My C63s some days while go into limp mode if I get into boost I removed my box and i haven’t had a issue since
it due to heat.... best to got it away from engine bay...
In my mind it goes like this:
bad chiptuning
Custom ECU tune > all the fucking shit boxes in the world
The truth about Racechip advert
i had a Vauxhall Vectra C 1.9 cdti 150 for just over 2 years...
Makes more power with less fuel? Really, so you found the magic formula to change laws of thermodynamics.
And with the billions the car marker's spend, these guys do better...
Why would you say that ? Cars have been getting better mpg while making more power for decades.
I bought one there unbelievably good my tucson was lacking power but after I got it its perfect now
all good still?
Coming up next month a video about all the comments about why everything is unanswered.....
...and why race chip are in legal troubles..?
@@PeterOekvist Interesting tell us more please.
Their claims are on crank hp and not power to the wheels, so they are pretty close to claims
I've been driving my 318d with racechip for 5 years+. Inbetween, I've had to take out the box for a year and the car just felt a lot more sluggish. I get up to 51.5 mpg on A roads at 60-70 mph.
If you drive a '94 celica and always scream REV UP UR ENGINE, you will never buy this kind of thing HAHA (Seagulls picture)
You do not save fuel by adding a performance chip. Your car may report better fuel economy because the stock ECU thinks it's using less fuel than it actually is. If you calculate it at the pump, you burn more fuel.
They do work and are very good.
