I can promise you that deputy would have never gotten my license either. I'm a retired police chief myself and would have made him well aware on camera about case law so he couldn't claim qualified immunity. I'm disgusted with the way police today have no idea about the law. I had seven years of constitutional law in college before going to the police academy. I was actually taught in the academy that if you asked for someone's ID they had to provide it or you could arrest them. Thank God I actually knew the law. When I went back to the academy to teach some classes, after retirement, I made them well aware of what their limitations were in requesting an ID. I'm slowly becoming an activist but I don't think I would have the temperament to interact with officers that should already know their limitations. I'm baffled and angry that some officers actually believe that people are required to do anything that is asked by the officer.

And use your authority under the color of law for your own personal feelings and use retaliation for your own personal agenda. If you can’t have a more of a controlled reaction and use common sense and logical thinking, and stay calm in situations like this and continue your day. You have to prove damages and without an arrest there’s not a whole lot to sue for. My personal feeling is he should be fired and have to pay this dude like 5 grand but that isn’t reality, unfortunately. All you can do is file a formal complaint and hope it’s the straw that breaks the camels back and he gets fired🤞

They ran her ID and basically she had been dinged for being a civil rights activist. The video is out there and I think she’s having a hard time holding them accountable. She was targeted by the cop after reading a note on her record. I’m not sure of the mechanism used but it was there. This cop on this video doesn’t seem to have a care he blatantly violated his rights. This cop is a tiny Man with a HUGE ego.
