Thank you for the shoutout to Team Austria! Getting a point out of a game vs Canada is huge. They could easily crumbled and lose 9:1 or something. Instead they fought back and tied the game. I think every austrian fan is recognizing that Canada wasn't close to playing with the intensity you can see from Team Canada after the group phase. We have seen this before. Cruising through the group phase but back to business in the elimination rounds. Nevertheless, that was a special night. I will never forget the commentary from the austrian broadcast for the tying goal by Rossi. In OT we played bad. We currently only have one NHL Player with Rossi. Besides him we only have a few drafted players : Thimo Nickl (Anaheim), Baumgartner (New Jersey), Rohrer (Montreal), Reinbacher (Montreal) and Kasper (Detroit). Reinbacher is injured and not on the team and Kasper plays currently in the AHL for the Grand Rapids Griffins.
For an austrian it was a game to remember, but we also know what the circumstances were.

Said it before, but naming a leadership award after a player one franchise considers the worst captain in team history is just soooo NHL
I think the Messier tenure in Vancouver should be the reason the name is changed... one of the worst captains in NHL history

The funny thing about the Messier Award Conversation is, that the guys have already talked about it in 2019 in the Purelator Studio and had the same reaction😂
I just looked it up, they talked about it on the "Stick of Truth" Episode from October 2019. At around an hour and 15 minutes.

Which is how much of a grain of salt you should take when he says Edmonton has the edge. Didn't he not even know about the spear to Hoglander until someone else brought it up days later.... and he is streaming the series. Like what? Canucks problem in game 4 is that the just didn't play for half the game. When they decide to play Edmonton can't handle them.

Adam, did you watch the last goal by the oilers? I'm glad you know that Bouchard scored. But McDavid and Hyman weren't on the ice. It was "Alpha Male"(said by Jason Strudwick), Evander Kane, and Dylan Holloway flanking the German Tank himself, Leon Draisaitl. At least watch the replay. Go Oilers
In reference to the Bob whistle. The same thing happen in the final Flyers game of the year against the capitals. The goalie deflected the puck up in the air, the ref (I think Sutherland) lost the puck and it as he blew the whistle the puck came down and went into the net. They reviewed it and call it no goal.
As you remember the flyers had to pull the goalie tied (needed to win in regulation) because that goal was not allowed. Caps scored with the empty net. Sooo huge ramifications for flyers, red wings, pens, caps

The Oilers want to play McDavid and Draisaitl apart. They know they are better that way and did it most of the year. The only reason they put them back together this series is to protect/insulate an injured Draisaitl but he’s feeling better now.
No offence but Holloway is gonna show you how good he is. Kids got magic in him. You'll see.
He's been an absolute meat missile man. I've never been his fan but he's played so well.

Re: Mitch trades - I think a good segment during the off season would be you guys looking at different teams who could/would trade and coming up with your own as opposed to sifting through what I imagine is an avalanche of proposals sent to you

For those of you unfamiliar with the West Coast Express era of the Canucks, Dan Cloutier was very much that team's equivalent of Reimer, Bernier, Campbell, Samsonov, etc. On any given night he could make 10 bell saves look routine or let in multiple muffins from all areas of the ice and you never knew which Clouts would show up for game day. (Case in point; he played well enough to help spot the Canucks a 2-0 series lead against a wagon of a Red Wings roster before he let the Lidstrom beach ball goal in). His flaws were magnified in the post-season where A: consistency is paramount anyway and B: the West Coast Express line was more often than not neutered by the boring AF playoff meta back then, meaning his bad nights hurt a lot more because of the lack of scoring compared to the regular season. Add in that he got hurt almost as often as Sami Salo and you've got the recipe for a bad time, though it is worth noting that mercurial as he was Cloutier was still a big upgrade over the goalie graveyard that preceded him.

Is anyone else bothered by the low camera angles for Stars home games? The camera seems to be positioned lower than other rinks, and when the chips are down and the fans are on their feet, you can barely see players along the boards on the near side.

Thomas was on the Blues 2019 Stanley Cup team. Kyrou play games in the regular season that year but no playoff games. Thomas played both, including 21 of the 26 playoff games for the Blues

I was at the Canada Austria game. Third period was incredible and bizarre experience. The thought of Austria actually being able to tie the game didn't came up to me until like 6:5 goal. At that point, everybody cheered for Austria in the building, not just Austrians, but also lot of Czechs, maybe even some Canada fans there. I bought the ticket for the game to see Bedard, Tavares etc., it's wild that Austria was actually the team who would made my money's worth.
The goal Salo let in was from middle of the ice and he jump up and the puck hit him and went in the goal. It’s a classic
I went old school today and loaded up a podcast from many years ago, the one after the David Ayres game, and you guys were saying back then how they had to trade Marner because it just wasn't good enough.
The more things change the more they stay the same.
The reason Wyatt Johnston went so late is because he barely played any hockey in his draft year, cause of all the COVID lockdowns. So no one really knew what to expect with him. Stars fan, after the draft went "Who?" and after we looked him up, felt disappointed. A lot of draft analysts basically said, "Stars wasted their first pick, but got Stankoven in the 2nd, so it evens out." As we all know now, it didn't even out, in the best way possible.

Part of the reason, why Team Germany was down in the group standings was because they had to play the best 3 teams to start the competition. Won against Slovakia but lost to Sweden and USA. After beating Latvia with an absurdly 8:1 victory, they only play teams that are deemed weaker, and have a very good chance to make it to the medal round.
Still have to play and win the remaining games.

The most entertaining part of Adam Wylde streaming Western Conference playoff games is his resurrection from all the hills he died on for takes & opinions he doubled & tripled down on all season long on teams he never watched and only consumed 5 min highlight packs from.

Been watching Canucks closely all year. My take is Ilya Mikheyev has been play decent but has been really snake bitten. For the most part has been doing good on the boards and driving the net just hasn’t found a goal in a bit. Probably wouldn’t have missed game 5 had he not been injured. Tocchet likes him and his play for the most part. Sometimes things don’t go your way
