I can remember how nasty the river got after they built the dike. It's so good to see how far it's come in the last 45 years, since I left home.

I lived on that river for years. Not close, but on. If I reached out the window and dropped a stone, you’d heard a splash. My sister was later found dead on the side of the river on the day after Christmas.
