Personally i didn't have any problem or disappointed with their English songs because they already talked so much about deep stuff . Its fine to have some fun songs with less meaning.. recent i cracked medical exam and i am playing dynamite for 1 hours, it was so fun dancing to it .

I just want to remind people that BTS have already talked about why they released those English songs. As they said all their plans were cancelled because of covid, and they explained how much pressure they felt on the expectations everybody has on them, especially Namjoon. They didn't do those songs for western validation. They didn't even expect those songs to be that successful, they just did it as a way to cheer people up and maybe breathe a little. Idk, y'all don't have to like it but to treat BTS like criminals just for singing in english is wild to me. Why is that an issue for y'all if they sing in another language, y'all are fine with Japanese but get mad with English??? Make it make sense. Seriously stop expecting something from them, let them be the artists they want to be not what y'all want them to be. If that doesn't resonate with y'all anymore then just leave them alone. I hope my comment isn't going to offend people cus I genuinely think that there is nothing bad about not resonating with an artist we used to love. My point here is just to point what BTS have said time and time again. They just want to do music and not care about what people think or expect from them so please if you're still an Army listen to what they say and trust them and if you feel like their music doesn't resonate with you anymore, please, just please let them be the artists they chose to be and find something that resonates with you. Stop criminalizing them over some english songs
Just to be clear my comment isn't targeted to anyone particularly. If you don't agree with me just state your mind respectfully. I'm seriously not in a mood to fight with someone lol
Btw guys if y'all didn't watched it yet, Boracity Magazine dropped a video about our BTS 1B Project. If y'all are interested go check it out

I think one of the most unfair (and racist) perceptions of BTS is that they were hungry for western validation when they dropped their first English single. They had already been accused of that in 2017 when they started promoting on American late night and award shows, and the response to that criticism was Idol.
BTS has never given us a reason to question their musical integrity and there wasn’t a logical reason for non-Koreans to accuse BTS of trying to appease the racist, white-ran music market of America with the English trio. They knew in 2017, when they were going on radio station tours but still not getting played on the radio, that they probably weren’t going to get the same treatment as their Western peers with the same level of fame and fandom, so why would they expect as outsiders to get radio spins just because Dynamite was in English? Sure, they were being given a seat at the biggest table in the global music market, but they weren’t being given anything to eat or drink.
If you read their book, or even listen to Map of The Soul:7 or even Love Yourself: Tear, they they were struggling with their explosive fame, their workload, and their passion for music all throughout the time before the Dynamite even dropped. What sense does it make for k-pop stans and ex-ARMYs to say that they were fame and Grammy chasing when, just months prior to Dynamite, we hear Yoongi rapping on Interlude:Shadow about how he wished for fame when he was younger and now that he has it he fears it? They had been burnt out for years- the lyrics of Black Swan told us that. They were supposed to tour Map of The Soul:7, go on a hiatus to complete their military service, and hope to come back to their love of making music. But the pandemic happened and their plans changed.
I don’t think people give credit to just how tense, scary, uncertain, and deadly those early months of Covid were. Sure BTS finally got a chance to rest, but it also kept them away from performing what they had worked on for months. All that work went down the drain and they were performing online concerts to no one- something extremely hard for performers to overcome since they get their energy from fans. They were isolated from other people for long periods of time, and they confessed themselves that it was a depressing, lonely time for them. Yoongi talked about how he lay between his parents and cried in their bed. Jimin talked about how he laid on his couch for days at a time with the curtains completely drawn, not knowing what day it was. Taehyung was writing sad songs to convey how isolated he felt. The world, for some time and for so many people looked like it was falling apart. Millions of people were getting sick and dying, and things looked hopeless. A bright English song got shopped to them for consideration, they decided to get in the booth, and released a bright, uplifting song in a time where humanity needed to feel something other than fear. It’s extremely petty to accuse them of switching up on their previous declaration to not do English songs considering the times we were dealing with. And then they did their most BTS thing ever after Dynamite- they got inspired again, got out their pens, and got in the booth to talk about their emotions during the pandemic. Had a hand in the every part of that album from end-to-end, had a Korean pop ballad for a title track, but still got accused of seeking Western validation the entire time. Oh, and let’s not forget that Yoongi dropped D-2 with his title track Daechwita, which made interest in historical Korean military music go up globally, but yes Western validation makes so much sense.
I honestly think people turned their backs on BTS because they didn’t like Permission to Dance. ARMYs were the reason Butter stayed #1 for 10 weeks because it got very low radio spins, but when PTD dropped everything changed. I saw in real time a fandom become divided because they were embarrassed that BTS would release rated G, Disney radio, cringey bubblegum pop. It wasn’t a song they felt proud to brag about and were scared that locals would find it, think this was what BTS sounded like, and completely write them off. In their minds, PTD would destroy all the efforts ARMYs had made to contribute to their popularity and have the gp take them seriously. Dynamite and Butter were undeniably good, fun songs that even their antis would bop to, but PTD? BTS antis were acting like they finally found something they could mass hate with no push back, and so the hit tweets came.
That leads into the Festa 2022 dinner, where I think people misinterpret them expressing feeling like they lost their way with the English trio. Like I said earlier, they had been feeling burned out creatively and emotionally as a group since before 2020. They allowed themselves to try something new during a really tragic global event in human history, and I don’t think three little English songs should make that big of a freakin deal in the grand scheme of things. This is especially considering that they were working on solo music (Taehyung, Yoongi, Namjoon, and Hoseok more specifically) during the times that the English trios were released.
Funny how Western validation only comes up in conversations for BTS when JYP abandoned domestic success and dropped Wonder Girls off in the US to get big, PSY made multiple Billiboard Hot 100 entries, 2nd gen idols were getting Black American rappers to hop on their songs to get noticed in America, 2NE1 was used in an Apple commercial, EXO-Ls celebrated their US Billboard 200 entries, Monsta X made a full length English album in 2020 that was released and promoted months before Dynamite with features from French Montana, Pitbull, and will.i.am, LSM creating SuperM to rival BTS in the American music market, Blackpink going to Coachella and EXO getting invites despite none of their members being from the US- but let an ARMY utter “BTS paved the way” and you’ll find 20 hit tweets from k-pop stans that use all of these examples as reasons why they didn’t.
I say all of this to say that it wasn’t BTS’ Koreaness that made them special. It was always them. It’s real real corny to say that three lil English singles (and not remaking the Wings era for the next 5 years) defines who they are as a group.

I 100% agree with you, but also I want to add sth from me and defend Permission To Dance. Honestely idk why PTD was chosen as a big enemy or flop - like wtf. I joined the ARMY ofc because of this "deeper" songs, but I really like BTS's english songs, because they are just fun summer hits (like for example esspresso by princess Sabrina right now

@@totylkoja9282 You shouldn’t even feel like you need to defend PTD. You like what you like, and it’s as simple as that. I didn’t like PTD (I like the R&B remix) but that one song didn’t stop me from being an ARMY or ever feel embarrassed of BTS. All of my favorite artists have songs in their discography I don’t like, but I’m not about to use those few songs to define their entire careers either.

Girl you said all the things I wanted to express in the best way possible. I seriously don't understand why people are so mad about them releasing some songs in English. Are we here for their music or them being Koreans?? And people need to understand that you don't have to love your favs every fucking song. And also, people be acting like BE was a trash of an album. Idk but personally I love the BE album. It gave me so much comfort throughout the pandemic. And ofc, people's tastes are different but I think we can all recognize genuinely bad as in really bad songs. Idk but I jam to Dis-ease and telepathy and cry my heart out to Blue & Grey, and Life goes on is just such a comforting song, Dynamite is just a vibe and even if I don't really listen to the other songs anymore, I come back to them from time to time. All of that to say BE exists but people act as if it never happened and kept push the "BTS hungry for western validation" narrative

    • @Jess1013
      @Jess1013 3 месяца назад

@@meilichankan9282 when I tell you BE was so timely and needed for the time we were in… I had lost family to covid and was attending funerals over zoom. I was scared to go outside and just breathe air. It was messing with my mind and the fear of dying alone like my family members had was all I could think about. BE was such a comfort to me in the darkest moments of the pandemic. It was so reassuring to hear an artist share how they were also feeling during that time and seeing just how much their emotions mirrored mine. BE is one of my top two BTS albums for that reason (the other is HYYH Young Forever). No one could ever make me hate her.
And to your question “Are we here for their music or them being Koreans??”- just going off my personal observations it looks like they’re more invested in them being Koreans and feeling special for it.

I don't think they need validation from anybody. What they did is just a continuation of what they always do; exploring and experimenting.
Aren't they already known in the West before the English trilogy?.
Out of their English trilogy, I love PTD the most. I like the melody more than the other 2.
Another thing, what's with BTS blocking other kpop artist because they release music during the military?. Why do they think that if BTS didn't release song, I would listen to their group?. I do listen to other group everytime there's new release, but if I don't like it, it just stop there. Simple as that. Some are catchy, but not playlist worthy.
Just leave BTS and ARMY do what they want. Other group and their fans should focus on themselves rather than being BTS 2nd fandom😏

BTS as a group has 300+ songs and their full English songs is literally less than 1% compared to their non-english songs in their entire discography.
Which is 0% percent, so in what way is that seeking western validation? They should atleast release 300+ full eng songs, to even say they are westernized.

    5. HEADLINE COACHELLA

I hope you will not take my comment as an offense to your opinion but I seriously wanted to express my opinion on your comment. The thing is I would advise you to not hold such high expectations from them. Ofc, as an Army myself, my egoistic side wants them to release more songs, do sick performances, perform in every huge festival, but at the end of the day, all of that requires a lot of work. And we all know how pressured they were and will be. That was even one the reasons why they took a hiatus (+MS lol). And one of the reasons why Namjoon was in such a bad condition. From now on, we should respect them as artists and let them be and do what they wanna do regardless of what people want from them. Ofc, I want to see them do cool stuff as well but the pressure shouldn't come from us. We should trust them as artists and as individuals, they are THE BTS after all.
And for the no english only songs part, I highly disagree with you. People are allowed to sing in any language they want if they have the ability to do so. Them not being native english speakers shouldn't stop them from singing in english.
Again, I'm not trying to offend you or anything. I just wanna give some other point of view. You're definitely welcome to disagree with my point, just like I disagreed with yours.
