    Hello Ebony! I'm 16 (turning 17 in the next two months), live in Texas, and am getting my GED's. From watching your first video I know you discussed having to have at least a Highschool diploma, would a GED not be qualified? And what is the minimum age requirement to apply in order to become a flight attendant? I won't immediately rush into trying to become one, and instead get a normal retail job to get some kind of feel/comfort with working and assisting people before applying, It would be a huge help to know when I should think about applying for airlines!
    and thank you so much, your videos are so helpful, I hope you make more in the future!

    Ebony Christina, thank you for making this video. I applied and interviewed with United back in September. There were several candidates there that were already flying with regional carriers. I had no flight experience. I didn't get selected. I wrestled with why I didn't get selected. Now, I understand. This month, I was selected by Mesa Airlines to complete their school. Like you, I am grateful for this opportunity. Thank you again, I'll see you somewhere !

    Lovely video! So helpful... I wanted to ask about the criteria for when it comes to swimming. How strong a swimmer do you need to be? I can swim okay but have this fear of deep waters...would that be a huge factor considering the fact that if an aircraft crashes over water, it's most likely going to be a deep ocean..

    Hi Ebony,
    I know you posted this a while back but I do have a question. I hear a lot about people trading trips with others. If you want to swap a trip with someone does it have to be given an OK by a supervisor of some kind or is it just an agreement between the two flight attendants? Hope that made sense and I haven't asked something you've answered a million times already!
    Thanks for all you share with us and all the time you give🤗😘😄

    Hey Ebony! I was just wondering if you need more than 1 language? I'm from Bulgaria and I speak Bulgarian and English. I'm also learning Korean. Will this help me?

    • @ebonychristina
      @ebonychristina  8 лет назад +2

      It depends on your country and the major languages spoken there. For example, since you're in Bulgaria you'll obviously be required to speak Bulgarian. But if English is a popular language then you may be required to speak that as well. In most cases speaking more than 1 language is a bonus but not required. I would look into the airline for specific details. Good luck!

      Hey! Thanks for watching! You're not required to speak more than one language to be a FA but it is helpful if you know more than one. Most airlines have heights requirements so I would check each airlines requirements to know. The heights varies.

    • @ebonychristina
      @ebonychristina  8 лет назад +1

      +anna foncha Hey Anna! That just depends on your airline. You should be able to check how far you are from getting a line. Try looking at how many Lines there are available and where you are on the seniority list at your base. You'll be able to get a comparison. And a line is basically when you know your full schedule for the month in advance including trips, crews, off days, and hours. It's amazing! lol I hope you get one soon! 🙂

    • @ebonychristina
      @ebonychristina  8 лет назад

      +Tracy Bulthuis Hey Tracy! If you're planning to get an apartment then I would say at least one months worth of rent. If you plan to just get a crashpad then maybe around $400 to be comfortable. Between me and you 😉, the airline will offer you an advance of 300-400 to help you relocate and get settled. You'll pay it back over several pay checks. Good luck at training!

    • @ebonychristina
      @ebonychristina  8 лет назад +3

      +bheki mntungwa If you're truly unhappy where you are then it may be a great decision for you to make a career change. What's the worst that could happen? If it doesn't work out you can always become an accountant again. Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith and take a chance on a dream. But YOU just have to decide if that would be the best decision for you. I left my job in the financial industry to become a FA and I've never regretted it every since! Good luck! What happens if you call in sick? I want to be a flight attendant but i have chronical disored that gives me stomach pains and joints pains from time to time. I function normally but i often get ill, so sooner or later i will have to call in sick.. wil that be a problem or will they fire me because of it?

    • @ebonychristina
      @ebonychristina  8 лет назад +1

      Burak Simsek The first time you call in sick it won't be a big deal (although they'll try to guilt you into thinking that is) you'll simply be put on-notice. But calling in sick often, even with a doctors note, can put your FA job in jeopardy. To prevent this from happening and to protect your job I would recommend you get FMLA. Google it if you're not familiar. If you call in sick with FMLA your job is protected and you can never fired for it. (With certain restrictions) Good luck!

    Does everyone leaving training get a few days after they know their base assignment to get organized. Did your airline give base assignments at the beginning or the end of training and was it done by seniority(based on age, birth date, grades, etc). I know its based on operational need, but im sure there are a range of assignments

    • @바나나파니니
      @바나나파니니 8 лет назад

      Tate Tate Great question! In the movie View From The Top, the flight attendants were assigned aircrafts and base based on their grade in FA school. I'm curious if it's the same in real life too. Hahah that would motivate everyone to be at the top of class if it's actually true!

    Does your airline have a reserve schedule that you bid on so you know if you need to commute early if you have to commute? I certainly dont want to have to commute, but I live in CLT which is an American base(from Usairways) so there are lots of flights, but if i have to move or get a crashpad temporarily, i am certainly going to do what it takes because i want to follow my dream of becoming a FA

      +Tate Tate Yea you'll get a full reserve schedule for the month in advance. But it'll only tell you what days you work not the hours you'll be working. A crashpad would be a good option for you. By the way, Shout-out to Charlotte. I love that city! lol 💙

      Thank you! Yes, ive lived here all my life and its a beautiful city. I will be a retired firefighter in nov 2018, 2 years from now and will be applying that fall. American Airlines and maybe Jetblue. I like Americans bases overall and i eventually could have a chance to get or transfer to clt

      Savannah Adams as long as their not visible you can cover it up , plus as a flight attendant you can wear long sleeves to cover up them

    Can your grandparents fly for free?

      No unfortunately not because grandparents aren't considered immediate family. Only parents, spouse and children.
