Same here... I am in my 50's and I have owned Ford Capris... Ford Escort MK 1 and MK 2,s. XR3i's ..MK 1 VW Golf GTI's. This MK 2 Astra GTE was a "Minter" ..I was shocked at the price.... I do hope it has gone to a good home and remains "Factory Standard" ... I hate it when people molest class cars like this.. Lower them and stick non-standard bits of plastic shit on them.
tell me about it I had a Sierra XR4i and a mk2 Escort Ghia and i had to pay the scrap man £20 to come and remove them from my drive many moons ago lol, I then bought a 100k mile Sapphire Cosworth from a company through the company i was working for for £2000 and not one company would insure me so i had to sell it without (legally) driving it @@briansaiditsoitmustbetrue4206
People are mental! I owned a Mistral Grey 16v in the 90s and whilst it was immaculate, it was awful to drive and leaked more oil than the Exxon Valdez. It’s not even a Champion edition. Sold mine for £2K in 1995 and bought a 1994 EG4 Civic.
i had two of these an 8v then upgraded in 1990 to a brand new 16v in a champagne colour, loved it so rapid, but got stolen when i parked it up in milton keynes, once found and recovered i auctioned it off.
I had a mk2 8v(single cam) Astra GTE in white and even that was quick for the time. Build quality was not good though, particularly on all the plastics. Great memories whilst owning that car.
Cracking history, getting on par with the fast Fords
Great to see the cars I owned going for this price, I could retire several times over on my past cars if sold now

Yeah, that was the problem with these and so many of the hot hatches of the time, thief magnets and insurance was mega high - a shame.
Had a 16 valve gte 1989 f reg burgundy colour got stolen when found wheel's bonnet, seat's missing was written off
Sold a mint 16v one on a H plate as a kid gutted lol 😂 for not much sadly.

Amazing price, but find another!
One of a kind!

Wow but I think worth every penny this car is a credit to its former family owners
So is it a competition with these guys , on who has the silliest beard or hair cutt
Seems like a nice positive comment to put out in the world
That dog deserves another icecream. How much did this car cost new? 👍
🆕 they was 14500
Missed the red GTI by £250 :(
Very good at the time well certain police forces used them enough said really.
So what would this 91 Corolla Gti-16v be worth. Less than 30 on the road
