      Malcolm X called out Whiteness and the fake class consciousness of liberals right away. He also called out the liberal and educated black dude who would side with white people just to keep his own social status (which was better than the common black dude) He called them Uncle Toms.
      There's another good quote from the book Cry for Freedom, the South African activist Biko said and I'm paraphrasing here because I couldn't find the right quote 'liberals think black people must be educated with white people's books in order to gain their freedom, only when black people think like white people they'll be able to gain their freedom'
      This is a real quote ====> 'I am not sneering at the liberals and their involvement. Neither am I suggesting that they are the most to blame for the black man’s plight. Rather I am illustrating the fundamental fact that total identification [by white liberals] with an oppressed group [blacks] in a system that forces one group to enjoy privilege and to live on the sweat of another, is impossible. . . .'

    • @victorfergn
      @victorfergn 14 дней назад

      hmmm well... I can't say I agree 100% with that because people have to earn money and 99.9999% people will make money by doing inconsequential things or by doing things very in line with all the shit that happens in this world... for example... most jobs are involved in slavery, pollution that kills people and redistribution of wealth from the poor to the rich... you sell cellphones... well guess how those cellphones are made, how the products that those cellphones are made of are acquired by cellphone companies... the same shit with all products that have batteries... the mining process of getting lithium is highly poisonous... all the people that live nearby a mine get sick because the water has poison so everybody who's job is involved in the production and retail of cellphones are involved in a slaughter... customers too.
      So describing somebody's job as hypocritical just because he's against the system... doesn't make much sense... most jobs are hypocritical because I'm sure most people aren't in favor of killing. but without all the death produced by the products they sell, manufacture or use... they wouldn't have any job.
      The problem with people like Hasan is that they sell you the image of a savior or an integral man and that you should give them money because they are changing the world and so on... when in fact it's just a job.
      I think a dude who talks about these issue is better than a dude talking about how cool drugs are or how sex is great, especially in songs.

      I feel like a lot of right leaning racism is based on ingorance and hate, whereas a lot of left leaning racism is well intended but racist none-the-less.

      My dad is a Trump loving racist and just hates brown people. A lot of his views are double standards and he doesn't see the fault in them. Blacks are a cancer on America - this is common amongst the right.

    As a white guy. Raised in part after my dad died by the system and Larry Hailey (a black man,not with my mom,just someone who took me in after) it could be a nervous thing going into communities that have preconceived notions about you due to skin color. Definitely fought a lot,and soaked in what I could. And then after working in the country even still being treated differently for the first few years just based on how I talked and dressed. I can respect going into a place that’s known to be hostile. I’ve lived around and associated with black nationalists from GD folks to black “Muslims” involved with Farrakhan. I watched Jidion’s video and then reactions from black creators to understand more because all I know is that it made my blood boil that racism is treated so nonchalantly. Yep. So true. Me, a Mexican, I had once a conversation with a white lady from the US, trying to "correct" me about facts of my ethnicity and nationality. Because I straight up told her, that we Latinos, Latinos that actually live in Latin America, don't like the word "Latinx" because that's an American word that disregards our culture and language. That if she was going to use inclusive language, she should use the one created in Latin America, the one that follows and respects our language and culture.
    Then, she proceeded to never admit she was wrong and try to educate me about my experience as a Mexican living in Mexico his whole life, and about my culture and language. In the end she just made herself the victim and erased my comments so she could keep being seeing as the good one, the progressive, etc.
    And this kind of stuff has happened to me online, many times, all from white Americans.
    But yeah. This should be totally addressed and exposed.

They talked about how they want to honor minority's culture... yet were so rude to me about mine. But they would do it so insidiously, they would cry and be the victims, if I ever called them out on their behavior. Then I was the crazy Latina attacking them... they were nice in the beginning, until I started speaking. Then apparently I said things they didn't like politically and cancelled me, w/o me knowing it. We moved away from them back to where my family lives. I’m 💯 sure part of the problem with racism today is labels, when a person is labeled as a white separationist or white segregationist, people will instantaneously assume that the beliefs that are associated with that label also entirely apply to that individual who has been labeled as such, so by taking a group of people and putting them under this umbrella term, you will inevitably take away from the actual individual, and that individuals actual beliefs. This is why hearing more than one story or side of a story is one the most important things to learn in a persons life.

      This is specifically him pointing out that he doesn't think all these people think the same. And that he believes some of them at least are incapable of speaking on these topics because they avoid them.
      Now again, not saying he is correct, but it does seem pretty clear that he doesn't think these different people are all the same.

    • @TheCalmPsycho
      @TheCalmPsycho 2 года назад

      @@kiraPh1234k I think the distinction to make is that he has created a box in his mind that he shoves all people of 'x' group into, and then when someone dissents from that box in his mind, they are traitors to that identity. I think that is what Luke was trying to get at. Same as when black people didn't agree with blm, they were called racist names like Uncle Tom, or porch monkeys or whatever, people like Hasan perceive and treat all black people like black people because black, and anyone who doesn't get back in line isn't a real black person.
      So even though you are right that he doesn't think different people are the same, he does think they are the same, or, should be the same, because trans, because black, because woman. He utterly denies the individuality, capability, complexity, and basic human functions, while devaluing and dehumanizing human beings into nothing more than a label. He dehumanizes the very people he pretends to care about, using them as tokens to be cashed in for his own benefit and self aggrandizement, while also using them as meat shields to deflect criticism of his thoughts so he never actually has to think about his hypocritical ideology.

      What I'm hearing is we might find out that has changed slightly among black voters, but the expectancy from what I'm hearing from my contacts (political campaign management, analysts) is it's not changing much. But it's expected to have changed for the first time in nearly half a century, to something like 80-85% voting Democrat instead of averaging around 92% over the last few decades.
      The bigger shift has been among Latinos. A slight shift not so much to Rep but simply away from supporting Democrats, has been detected lately among gay and bisexuals, but not among Trans.

    Them: "No. Not like that."
    You don't end hate by simply yelling at people or threatening them. All that does is stop them from _saying_ it out loud. I'd rather live in a society where people genuinely _carry_ less hate in their hearts than a society where the hate is just kept quiet. Unlearning your internal biases doesn't come from them going unchallenged - it's the opposite. Daryl Davis went to freaking KKK rallies who had far more to say than the guy in this interview and guess what? He changed a lot of minds and helped a lot of people let go of that hate.

  • @Dmobley9901

    This is sad and it's still happening.
    How have we reached the point where it's easier for a black man to have a civil conversation with KKK members, than for anyone to have a civil conversation with someone who is on the "liberal" side of things?
    I'll be honest, I'm left leaning on the vast majority of things, but I don't partake in that community, because it's so cutthroat people make assumptions way too fast, and even if you agree on most things, if you disagree on ONE thing, people will act like you're everything that's wrong with humanity and will refuse to listen.
    Not saying that there aren't liberal activists that can be civil and well spoken and so on, but I feel like it's disproportionately emotionally charged in comparison to centrists or even people on the conservative side of things.
    I don't agree with my own family on a lot of things, most of them are more conservative leaning, some even identify as Republican, but they're mature people who can have an open and intellectual conversation, and not just because we're family.
    Now it's still a mixed bag on the conservative side of things, there's extremists at both ends of the spectrum, but when I think of activists and speakers on that side, I think about people like Jordan Peterson, Amala Ekpunobi as well as maybe a handful of others who I don't see as often.
    These are people I objectively don't agree with on certain topics, but they're intelligent people who are open to opposing viewpoints and differing opinions.
    That's why I look up to people like Daryl Davis, the black man mentioned here who has attended KKK rallies to engage KKK members in conversations about why they think the way they do and how they can come to better understand each other.
    That is what the world needs more of.
    Tolerance isn't something that can be forced, it's something that's offered, just like understanding.
    If people genuinely want the world to change, we need to be firm, yes, but also kind and open.
    The first step to changing the world though, is to realize what needs to be changed in yourself. This is where too many people on "my side of the fence" end up skipping important steps.

    Honestly bro, i really liked that old dude willing to talk to a black man, being honest about his own beliefs (as weird as they might be), not getting angry nor confrontational, just chill.
    THAT'S what makes progress, just a chill discussion about what we don't like about each other, and if you can't convince people otherwise (or viceversa), it's still all cool, respecting differences is what makes us a civilized society, not everyone is gonna like you and that's fine, as long as you don't get physically hurt, it's all cool, because you give words the power they shouldn't have, and that's what making us devolve socially.
    Here in Mexico, we have racism as well, but we don't get our heads too far up our own arses and start crying about it (unless you're a fake ass celebrity or a university feminist, sorry girls!). We have actual harmful problems we need to take care of, we kinda don't have the time to defecate ourselves everytime someone call us a racist slur, I'm more inclined to find it funny tbh, and I'd do the same to my friends and vice-versa. I realized this when I went to university. Primarily white with some ethnic groups here and there, but most of my problems came from liberal white students and teachers that reject the fact that I’m Latino because my skin was lighter. I’ve been told how to feel about “issues” that we Latinos must worry. When I tell them that I’m not offended or that most Latinos won’t be offended they get mad at me and tell me I don’t know better. They ignore when I tell them I hate being called Latinx so on so on. White liberals will say the most racist shit to you without understanding our feelings on things. White individuals that haven’t been racist towards me are those that don’t go to college/ university or country folks. I don’t like to generalize people but I’m more cautious because of my experiences, I hope that they learn and understand that how they think and act towards other races and ethnicities is problematic.

University tends to have this problem because a lot of these ideas plaguing us now have been there for a while and only recently gained prominence. Because of these experiences, I am very cautious around 'white' and other ethnic groups who are openly progressive (especially women ugh).
      It's not that they are 'problematic' ugh hate that they've made that word cringey, but it's that they don't realize that they are ignorant as well (they've never traveled to most of the places in their country or the rest of the world to actually KNOW how people and places are like).
      They take their academic knowledge as completely true as it allows them to hold sweeping generalizations over others (and think this is completely different from prejudiced people holding on to old beliefs and stereotypes). Being in Academia definitely does not help in taming elitist attitudes, in fact, a lot of the time, it encourages it. Unlike America, usually Canadians say such awful shit with a smile and a kind/patronizing voice.

  • @campbellsoup93
    @campbellsoup93 Год назад +720

    Y'all should look up Daryl Davis. He's a (black) blues musician who has spent years not only talking to members of the Klan but also befriending them and convincing them to leave it. One of those members was the imperial wizard of the Maryland group. Their first meeting klan dude showed up with an armed bodyguard. They had a tense conversation where they both spoke about their views. They actually became good friends with Daryl being named the godfather of the klan dudes daughter. When Klan dude left the Klan he gifted Daryl his robe to show that he was done with it and that it was thanks to Daryl.
    Sometimes just talking works. Ignorance is the root of a lot of hate. If you can sit down with someone and just have a conversation with them, share your views listen the theirs, you can cut through a lot of that ignorance and maybe (emphasis on maybe) you can change their views or at least make them actually think about what they believe.
    Seems better than Hasan's ideology at least.

    Back story to Daryl Davis. He was at an event where a group of leftist activists came and tried to shut it down. He said “ i told everyone to be calm and let me go talk to them” After trying to speak with them i had to go inside for fear of violence. He said, It was easier to sit down and talk with a KKK leader then a progressive/ leftist. Atleast the kkk members would give you a chance for Dialogue. That speaks volume..

    My thing is that Jidian went to this town with every expectation of violence and hatred by the residents that live there. Yet what did he find? Polite, welcoming people who even pointed out where the true racists are. And even when he found the racists, they were able to speak respectfully to each other and exchange ideals and themes of thought with one another. Did it solve racism? No. But at least we can say that the perception and reputation of the town didn’t actually live up to what we’ve been told. To have true democracy, we all need to have both the ability to speak as well as to be heard.
      Once you have those, the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently determines how well you're able to work with other people and other groups.
      It's good that people are trying to publicly accomplish this, because as you so rightly point out, the media and Oligarchy are dividing us.
