Me again, Hannah - this is another video that was super helpful. After watching this, I am definitely Team V. When I moved up here from CA, I stopped in Oregon to get gas. It freaked me out to see some guy running toward my car! 😳

Right? We can all pump our gas ourselves, why have someone else do it for minimum wage?!

This is a great video Hannah! I dont go to Portland anymore either. Sadly even WA Square has become crime ridden. #11 Important to buy fr Hannah on WA side and live there exclusively before selling your OR business to avoid the OR tax. ❤. (~Salem Realtor)

They're both equal. Vancouver you'll die of boredom and loneliness. In Portland you'll die from crime or sheer filth.

lol! Well thank you for sharing your opinion. There are soooo many people here that love what the area has to offer including myself. Sounds like it just must not be the place for you!

I don't think either is better. It depends on what you're looking for. It's apples and oranges as Portland is the population center and Vancouver is a suburb of Portland. I've lived in both cities and it's their differences that bolster the larger metro area with more options.
I did a study in a recent video of mine talking about large metro areas that are on a state line where one state has no income tax and the other does. We're the only metro in the country, of our size that has this feature. It helps a lot of people moving here with more options.
NJ is the only state where it's still illegal to pump your own gas. Just after your vid, Oregon can pump their own gas. They must've heard you! lol.
I'm curious about your closing statement. "I think Looking into the future another 5, 10, 15 years, Washington, Clark County is gonna be further ahead than Portland." Can you expand on that statement? I'm not looking for a "gotcha" moment. I just love talking about this region and learning more about people's views. Starting a dialogue.
    Fun vid.

Thanks for commenting and watching! Totally - different areas are better fits for different people. Certainty there is NO one size fits all. But I do believe SW WA overall is trending in a better direction.
I know, that was funny how they changed the law right after I filmed this, so I guess scratch that now.
Clark County, of the seven Portland Metro Counties (5 in OR and 2 in WA) is the fastest growing in many departments (people moving in, building permits, taxes paid, GDP). I attended a very interesting seminar at the beginning of the year, but on by an economist sharing many of these stats. Clark County overall has a more open sentiment to building, expansion, and growth than Portland area. Portland seems to enact extra taxes and regulations every year and subsequently, I get calls from those folks wanting to move to our side of the river.
One example that comes to mind is the Floor Area Ratio rules that have been proposed - www.schwabe.com/publication/portland-poised-to-adopt-strict-limits-on-house-size/#:~:text=In%20general%2C%20the%20square%20footage,family%20lots%20are%205%2C000%20sq.
It is rules and proposals like the above that are causing people to say "yeah, I'm out of here". Anyway, I will be really interested to see how my opinions age in 5,10,15 years like I said 🤣😁

@@LivingInVancouverCamasWash Thanks for that info. It's interesting to see the onion layers of cities. My dad's a land surveyor and taught at Clark College there in Vancouver and OIT in K-Falls. I like talking with people like yourself, and my dad, as the pros of realty and land management. I just find it fascinating.
Keep making vids and thanks for chattin'.

If you own a Diesel Vehicle and I do. You can pump your own Diesel Fuel. This is because Diesel Fuel is a Class 2 Fuel and Gasoline is a Class 1A Fuel. Also, the attendance at the Fuel stations do not want to be responsible for pumping the wrong fuel into your vehicle. I have noticed that they shy away from pumping Diesel Fuel. So, I have pumped my own Fuel.

Thanks for chiming in! As of earlier this year, people can now pump their own Gas in Oregon (thank goodness lol!) so this is no longer true.

Over the last 4 years or so, the crime rate has risen. Immensely (for Vancouver! Its risen a LOT!-) Not as much as portland, per say..... obviously.
BUT - compared to how it USED to be, say approx. 4 years... It's just gotten so much more infested w/ crime, drugs, as well as homelessness has risen substantially, here, too.....
    Slowly, BUT surely!!
As well as the FILTH/GARBAGE!!! 🤬
No, it may not be quite as "bad" as over the bridge, but....
If youve been in Vancouver as long as i have - then you already know, it is truly becoming an issue. All around. N its due to the homeless.... i do NOT judge homeless people. Ive known ppl who have experienced it themselves, very close loved ones. BUT - it's NO excuse to jus litter, litter, litter, n litter! If you can find a shopping cart to carry your stuff, or bags/trash bags, PUT YOUR 💩/GARBAGE IN THERE, TOO! find a way! The world is NOT OUR 🗑️ CAN!
It really breaks my heart! Like earth isnt suffering enough with everything mankind has done to it, the wars between ukraine/russia, all of our carbon footprints, so much over population, n CLIMATE CHANGE isn't enough strain on this beautiful 🌎, ALREADY!
I now see 🚮 everywhere i go now, when driving! It's jus frustrating.
It's especially always in the grass on the side of many freeways, n even plenty of the main roads too, now!
Again, it's (obviously-) due to the rising rate of the homelessness, here, too!!
It wasn't like this, AT ALL, jus a handful of years ago... i hate to say it 🥲😩 ----
But, ufortunately, i only see it all getting much worse over here too, BEFORE it'll get better.... One can truly only do their part to help, n hope/pray🙏🏽 (if that's your thing! If not, then HOPE!-) that, that won't be the case for Vancouver!!
    BUT, THANK YOU FOR THIS!👏🏼🎆🫂
I appreciate you making this video! It's nice to see someone speak on clark county area/Vancouver! Actually, i was really pleasantly surprised to come across this! I'm happy i did!🎆😌

Portland has more rules, but I have noticed in Vancouver that the cops are snootier at traffic stops, and doing Government stuff is harder in Washington cause they are a big Military state, and their Govt offices are full of cranky older Veterans. In Oregon, dealing with Government offices you run into drug addicts, and young liberals who know and care little about doing their jobs.
