Kinda interesting how Sinclair probably embodies the spirit of what Ryan wanted people to achieve with Rapture the most, yet was ridiculed for it. He wasn’t a silver spoon artist or sociopathic scientist, but just a clever and savvy businessman who found practical solutions and profitable ventures where no one else even bothered to look.

Even as the story progressed and audio diaries from both various people and the man himself revealed what a shady bastard he really was, or rather, that he was just as dirty as everyone else in the city, I still couldn't help liking Sinclair. Maybe it was the smooth way he talked. I was never really clear on why he initially wanted to help you reunite with Eleanor, but especially at Inner Persephony when he was turned into a Big Daddy and pleaded for you to save Eleanor and show her the sun, I truly felt he was being genuine.

In his case I think he was supposed to represent how even a good man could be brought so low in a city sinking into its own shit. Now I know your going to say but he did bad things and was unhonest in his dealings, and the answer to that is ya. Their were no honest men in rapture, because they were the first to be picked off. I always thought he may have known Eleanor as well. The game just tells us what it needs us to know to make comprehensible decisions and everything else is left out, and as ruptures biggest entrepreneur it's not a strange conclusion that he could've met alot of the other big names and potentially their kids. Also we have no idea who Eleanors real father even was so I like to think that most if not all male characters from this game are fair play because all the people you meet are from the rapture era that Eleanor was born in and she WAS born in rapture so who knows.

Sinclair was a pretty nasty guy in terms of morality, yet so charming and likable. He really cared for Eleanor, and maybe even for Delta (even though it seems to me that he only helped Delta because he considered Delta to be Eleanor's only chance for freedom.) I'd love to be able to tear Sofia Lamb apart for what she's done to him. I didn't harvest any of the little sisters nor did I kill the NPCs when given the choice, so I guess Eleanor will save her from drowning, but I'd love to be able to give Lamb the same treatment she gave to him.

    • @user-hm8ub2kd4w
      @user-hm8ub2kd4w 4 года назад +12

@@petrsukenik9266 Yeah, exactly. He stated explicitly what he was and what he believed in. And later subverted player's expectations entirely. I'm still not over the fact that he actually got caught because he went out looking for Delta. I've stumbled upon a theory on reddit that suggested how he could still be alive, implying that there were several inconsistencies in this segment of gameplay, which might mean that the guy we killed in the game might not have been Sinclair. Like, why would Sofia allow him to communicate with Delta and see things through his camera and stuff like that. (Although I perceive it as a kind psychological torture, seeing your friend killing you from his perspective,or, probably seeing yourself killing your friend). Basically it was like: "Someone else was in the costume, because splicers didn't actually manage to get Sinclair, who saw what was happening through Delta's helmet and decided to play along to trick Lamb into thinking he was dead." While unfortunately it seems to good to be true due to number of reasons, it made me realize that without this sacrifice Sinclair would have remained a charming bastard with no character development nor any redeeming qualities which would have made him a lot less likeable. Funny thing is, when he jokingly said about Delta "our tin man had a heart all along", he kind of described his own character arc. In the end a cynical, materialistic and selfish man, who lived by the idea "you won't catch me blowing my last bubble for any other personage - plural or singular" sacrificed his life trying to help Delta save Eleanor. To me that's amazing:)

Augustus Sinclair is one of Bioshock's most well-written characters and I'm still so upset he (and all of Bio 2's lore basically) didn't pop up in Burial at Sea. I think he would have been a beneficial person, even for a few seconds, in letting Elizabeth know that Rapture isn't all that it seems, and possibly giving her help or advice on morality. I think his desire to help others stems from his own self-sufficency- he does have genuine compassion because he sees himself in others and wants them to excel to their best like he did- even if it comes out almost in an exploiting manner. I just can't get over his charm and ability to maintain himself in a hostile world, and create such a strong personality. I wish he, and Bioshock 2 as a whole, were talked about way more, and I feel he holds as strong of an ability to be remembered alongside all the other Bioshock main characters.

They put so much thought into this one era, and it's really impressive.

Yes, that was correct Augustus Sinclair was a business man. Right before Fall of Rapture. Subject Delta was control and kill himself by Lamb in 1958
. There is Sinclair Solutions Home Consumer Reward Program from Multiplayer Apartment in 1959 and After they have reach Rank 40 and they heard there was explode plus airplane, Jack will com to Rapture begin.
In 1968 Eleanor sent little sister to find Delta's body life from Vita-Chamber. Sinclair was hiding in Ryan Amusements and contacted by Tenenbaum. He will help Delta quest to find Eleanor.
Lamb orders splicer to find capture Sinclair and became Alpha Series, Subject Omega (Symbol: Ω) controlled by Lamb. Like Mark Meltzer became Big Daddy Rumber.
Both Sinclair and Meltzer are brave hero man so sorry. They should get more power and weapons like Jack did.

Sinclair was greedy and sleazy, but he was also open about it and had no reason to lie to Delta or try to betray him. He in a sense started as cuttthroat-capitalist like everybody else who succeeded in Rapture, but aftermath of civil war made him much more pragmatic towards enlightened self-interest. He liked making good deals and knew that happy customers are returning customers.

I think Sinclair was overall a good person with some big mistakes under his belt, yes he contributed to the war but Jack did as well. Just like Sinclair, Jack played both sides of the civil war for his own reasons with good intent. So why should we hate him more than Jack?
Sinclair framed Lamb to get her out of the picture WITHOUT killing her (unlike Ryan), but you know what Lamb becomes because of Sinclair's kindness? The new dictator of Rapture.
Sinclair was hated by Ryan for being too kind to his community, by creating a market for the poor to work but losing profit in doing such. This kindness failed in the same way that Scampia's did, bad architecture. It created an environment in which secrets and crime could be easily committed so the people there adapted to the environment.
by Bioshock 2, he made terrible mistakes but stayed 10+ years in the hell created by them. He wasn't as cruel as Ryan but his kindness was genuine unlike Fontaine.

@@TheBioshockHub Well, that adds a bit of irony to the whole thing. Even though I sympathetic towards Sinclair and I enjoyed his company in the game, his backstory really paints him as a rather selfish and arrogant individual, who couldn't let go of his industrialistic ideals even when he had the last chance - instead planning to make profit off the wonders he would bring to the surface. I imagine, does he feel remorse for what he's done when he meets Delta or was it just an attempt to use him as a way to get out of Rapture.
Truly an emotional rollercoaster, come to think of it.
