    It's such a great DLC. Where the story in 2 felt lacking in a lot of areas, Minerva's Den more than made up for it, despite its relative simplicity. The writing and voice acting more than sells Porter's character, and it's nice that Tenenbaum gets some finality to her as well, given how short her appearance in 2 was. With the gameplay itself being much more compacted and still holding its own unique style, making you feel like you're in a new part of Rapture. Despite being a much smaller DLC, it's as good, maybe even better in some ways, to the previous.
    Hopefully Infinite goes well. It has its own problems, but it's still a fun ride.

      I like Bioshock 2 but I will say that I get that some people won't play a game if it starts crashing on them every 5 minutes. Even after editing the config it still crashed every 3 hours, which didn't bother me too much cuz I usually only played it for a bit more than 2 but that's still a big problem. Not saying that everyone has these kinds of problems with the game but a lot of people do (especially with the remastered version) which is sad cuz this definitly was a worthy sequel to the first game.

    • @GucciBucci
      @GucciBucci 3 года назад +48

      Cause it is. Don't get me wrong i like the 1st bioshock like anyone else but i feel like its only good that one time around. Maybe even 2nd time. The thing that keeps it up is that story but once you know it it kinda sinks. The gameplay is good but not great due to little variety & balancing issues in late game. The challenge rooms are a nice touch but not enough. 2 takes all of that and amps it up to 20, you can argue the story isnt good as 1 but it doesn't have to be. In fact it does the rapture story better id say with great added lore & an interesting take of individualism vs collectivism. In short, Bioshock 2 is good because its not trying to be bioshock 1, its good at being rapture.

      It's a classic series, weirdly I've got into the habit of having a special Yankee Candle for every game - BioShock is my first ever candle - Pink Dragon Fruit. Even now, the scent hits me like a truck and immediately takes me back to Rapture. If anyone else wants to add to their gaming experience, it's strangely effective for putting you in a wonderful mindset for a game (along with coloured led strips etc).

    • @Blue_Sonnet
      @Blue_Sonnet 3 года назад +3

      @@alanwatson2287 Yeah, I read that memory and smell is strongly linked, I think everyone has had a moment where a scent just took them back to a particular moment without thinking about it. So I've had fun playing around with it - Sicilian Lemon for AC2, Water Garden for FFXV, Cherry Blossom for Persona 5 - its been quite a blast 😁
      Although I wanted a forest-type scent for Horizon I couldn't really locate anything I liked - it's ended up with a tropical fruit one instead!
      Just created some manual scenes for my LEDs, I think I'm starting with Horizon since the reds and greens are so strong in the game... P5 and Nier Automata are white, black and red so those are hard to do, but BioShock can have all these rippling blues and greens, so that's gonna be interesting!
      Gaming is so involving & fun that is nice to take it outside the literal box, if that makes sense?

      Levine is a weird creep and a terrible business man. His interviews are so uncomfortable and mostly because its obvious he has no idea what he is doing, and only has his own ego to follow. Like he made rapture and literally thinks he is a god, and the game has all these themes that get contradicted because while the story is meant to promote altruism.. levine is actually a greedy incompetent little man just like the villain in one of his books. Personally feel like infinite was too much of a step back from rapture. Story is too confusing, the gameplay is refined but it doesnt feel like bioshock, it feels the first game gives you more plasmids and options then Infinite, Booker dewitt being the first protagonist to speak but he wasnt that likable because of how damn confusing the plot is. The twins were cool but once again, ruined by the complicated time and multiverse plot

    I've said it from day one and I'll always love you for this. You are always so good about keeping the story intact and serious. You treat the story how it is supposed to be treated (when it's a good one) and I appreciate it so much. I had to hug my hubby for a while after the end of this video, but I just adore that you are so sincere in your playthroughs like saving the little girls and being a good person. I know to other people they are just characters and blah blah blah. But I think that taking it seriously and making a real-world decision about treating them like real little girls and the desire to save rather than abuse says a lot about a person and you have always seemed like a wonderful person to me.

    I like to think that a lot of the ideas they had for BioShock infinite came from BioShock 2 and this DLC.
    There are some quite extensive similarities. In both games your a "father" rescuing your "daughter" (Elenore/Elizbeth) from a totalitarian religious state (The Family/Columbia) whos leader is also a parent for your daughter (be it her mother or an alternative version of you)
    Your daughter is central to the religion as messianic figure and has vast supernatural powers. A very noticeable parallel.
    The main twist of this DLC that you the player character are actually another person in a way is also noticeable in infinite.
    Here you turn out to be the person who you thought was contacting and guiding you, a reveal even Indeimaus didn't realize.
    In Infinite your character is actually themselves as they know...but the main antagonist is another dimensional version of you and the reveal that are both the same person is critical to the plot.'
    I suppose one can see how while BioShock 2 is often less remembered than the first one of Infinite ,a lot of its ideas were recycled and reformed to become part of Infinite., if somewhat modified to fit the setting.
