No guarantees it was inspired by this as it could have been taken from a common derivation. But it was very very very similar. -- Old Man

There used to be a book series. 'Nitpickers guide to Star Trek'.
I wonder what the authors would make of modern Trek... and how thick each half season would be compared to TNG's seven?

Man, l miss good actors like Roy Scheider... i also miss good Star Trek.
Cant believe there are people tripping up over themselves for this garbage. 🤨

Also, ‘Bill’ is also known as ‘Admiral Paris’.

      Yup.
As a side note, it's interesting when SeaQuest DSV first came out the reviewers were calling it Star Trek TNG under water -- Old Man

Don’t forget Shatner and Tim Russ both guest stared on 2 episodes. Mark Hamill even makes an appearance.
I miss SeaQuest, but I would like to remember it well, and the current clowns in charge at NBC/Universal will probably ruin it, if they tried to reboot it.

When I was watching "Photon Bullet" (Tim Russ' episode as Mycroft) in first run, I didn't appreciate it as I was a young man and the tech they used felt cheezy off.
But as a much older person now, on reflection, the concept of believing online people and fabricated reality via online trickery it is creepy how it reflects society now. I appreciate this episode in my later years Especially Lucas' speech about how one needs to get know someone in person before one can try to help anyone -- Old Man

I think Roy Sheider did it better, playing the reluctant recluse vs someone who probably isn’t mentally up to leading a crew of a Starship.

With these two scenes I'd agree. I enjoyed Scheider's season 1 as Bridger in seaQuest DSV.
I would like to think Mount could grow into this SNW Pike role IF....big IF.....the writers give him something to work with -- Old Man

1993 was a far better time to be alive

One of the things that I miss from that era is how things were shot on film and scenes were brightly lit, colored and looked more natural. That beach scene in this clip from SQ is beautiful.

So you’re saying they steal ideas…
Is that bad? Does it help the story? Tell me an original idea you would’ve done instead. When is it good to copy? When is it bad?
Does voyager copy TNG? Is that bad? Or good? What is it anyway? Why am I writing this? I probably copy someone damn… I stop now. Have a great week…

This particular video isn't trying to say anything regarding why they are similar. That's an exercise for the viewer. -- Old Man

it's a complete rip off like picard season 1 was a complete and total rip off of a video game. kurtzman trek is helmed by agenda driven hacks , admired only by useful idiots with room temperature IQs.

I think people can draw their own conclusions. This video is simply presenting footage of the two shows, and its up to the viewer to decide if that is a good thing or a bad thing that they are alike.
