I was an extra on Season 2. Got to meet Roy Scheider and most of the cast. Was sad to learn Darwin was just a puppet. The sets were just silver painted wood. It was a fun experience
@St. Haborym it was animatronic and squeak operated so all the dolphin puppeteer had to do (his name was Octavian) was squeak commands into a microphone and the dolphin puppet did what Octavian commanded. Pretty nifty hey?

When I watch a snesdrunk video I can count with two things: having an awesome video with a great review, and having a bunch of references to people I’ve never heard about in my whole life. Not disappointed.
SNES drunk, I recently stumbled upon this random SNES game called 'Hurricanes' and it's this weird soccer/Donkey Kong crossover (that's probably giving it too much praise lol). Not sure if you've ever covered it, but would love to see a video on it sometime! :D
Hurricanes is not great but it is rare, so if you have it, congrats. But as a game, it’s not good. I just found out recently that it’s not a regular soccer game but more like a platformer similar to Kid Kleets. I’m sure he’d tell you to avoid it. Probably better than Kid Kleets at the least.
@@kazekamiha My experience with Home Improvement was playing the demo at a Blockbuster decades ago and being really confused about what I needed to do. That pretty much sums up the whole game.

it would be fun to see your 20 best super nintendo games. The essential snes games video is already 7 years old. and with so many games you have played it would be fun to see how your taste in games evolved and changed.
I hadn't seen this in years when one day my dad, my sister, and I were at a bed-and-breakfast. There was satellite television, and I wanted to watch SeaQuest DSV because I hadn't seen it in years. My sister wanted to watch Home Improvement because she wanted to see Jonathan Taylor Thomas, even though she could have just as easily done so at home. In the end, neither of us got to watch what we wanted, because my dad is scrupulously fair.
THAT'S the game I've been half-remembering for the past 20 years! I remember renting this as a kid and liking it. But then I forgot the name of it and could never find it again. I was starting to wonder if I had dreamed the whole thing. Now I need to go try playing it again to see if it's half as fun as I remember.
This looks like the kind of game that an inde developer could really flesh out to be something special. Make the missions procedural, and maybe have rogue-like collectable upgrades, and refine the mechanics, and you could have something really cool.
“Unspectacular, but solid” is a fair assessment of the show, too, if I recall. Among the Star Treks and Babylon 5 of its time, it was kind of just there, but didn’t make any major waves (pun intended).
I was just thinking of this show recently and how good it was for its time. Completely forgot there was a game of it. Comparing it to Star trek next gen reminded of this comedy show we had in Australia back then with Eric Bana before he got famous. Everyone on the bridge kept using star trek terms like warping and beaming which pissed off the captain. He insisted this wasn't star trek when someone said klingons were boarding and then suddenly Eric Bana shows up dressed as Worf with a brown painted plastic crap stuck to his forhead. I still piss myself laughing every time I think of it.
Fun fact. Johnathan Brandis was Bill in the TV movie adaption of IT, with Tim Curry. He also ended up committing suicide... which is not a fun fact, but very tragic, as I loved both IT and Seaquest DSV... I even didn't mind Never Ending Story II, where he played Bastian.
"Tutorial that's reasonably short" ok look, for some reason my buddy owned this game when I was like 10 and we kept trying to figure the game out. Didn't watch the show either. At the time it was one of those "let's spend some time trying to figure out this game, again". Never get past the tutorial.
Funny thing that when I have this game on Genesis in long long ago, I have low skill in english. Still somehow I manage complete few missions, of course with plenty expirements ) . And now I only hear that this game have tutorial, lol. Is tutorial only exist on SNES verison?
We NEED john stossel to tell the harsh truth on this. It's always happiness when you upload a video and i can start the morning with a sssssssssnes drunk!
You know, I've watched dozens of SNES drunk videos. Maybe a hundred of 'em. But I never know who he name-drops. Not once. But, as Francis Goldburry used to say: "I love it."
I had this cartridge as a kid. First area was a blast, 2nd area was hard but eventually beat it, 3rd area I always gave up. Oh and the speeder was my favorite ship for combat with it's homing shot. The stinger was only useful if I needed to dig at odd angles since it can turn each direction.
I remember watching the show now and then when I was a kid (not a bad Trek-alike). Came close to renting the game on Genesis a ton of times, but never went through with it.
Desert strike in a sub plus mini games was what we called this back in the day. Never hated it, but like a lot of the era it did spike in difficulty by the end and you just can't face replaying the same missions when you have to start the area over.
Nice to hear my hometown Phils getting some love and, yes, that '93 team was awesome. But, if you want a rather sobering account of that season and/or team, pick up a book called Macho Row that came out a couple years ago.
The guy from Jaws and the boy from It and Ladybugs: it would have been awesome if they made games from either one of those. I saw a lot of Jonathan Brandis in my Bop and Tigerbeat magazines: it’s a shame he died so young since he was a great talent.
They should have used the water ripple effect on both of the background layers, which is entirely possible to do on the SNES. And I'm not sure why the effect is so slow and stuttery here, but it can be much smoother also.

You lived the dream.
How was the craft services?
It was a puppet yeah but more impressively (in my opinion anyway) the puppeteer was a real flesh and blood dolphin. Super cool.
@St. Haborym it was animatronic and squeak operated so all the dolphin puppeteer had to do (his name was Octavian) was squeak commands into a microphone and the dolphin puppet did what Octavian commanded. Pretty nifty hey?
On second thought, let's not go to the United Earth Oceans Organization. Tis a silly place.
Shower thoughts: some games will be remembered more for their SNESdrunk reviews than the games themselves.
Wow, that pre-rendered sprite work is actually very impressive for a non-Nintendo studio.
