The spike on the "pea shooter" is actually accurate to the cgi model,its like some kind of bayonet, what's not accurate is how tiny his ion blaster is, that thing is huge on the movie

and since when did hasbro designers remain super faithful to the movie or cartoon designs? they keep doing their own thing and feeding it to us
Hands down one of the best studio series Optimus primes ever,my only gripe is the lack of a decent gun; maybe a third party will do an upgrade set for him.

I personally think they have a setup going with DNA designs. Every figure that comes out lately they have a DNA kit right along with them. By the time you're done getting the DNA kit, it's more than a 3rd party figure with a lot more engineering and paint apps half the time.
A day after watching this DNA pre-orders for him dropped. It's a nice setup they have, but it should have had most of it already. My biggest gripe with it is that it's close to the same price as the figure. They still couldn't include a G1 or real gun with in the DNA kit either.

That one joint between the pelvis and thigh, always scares me, if it's not strong, it'll snap right off. And you also have to make sure the leg joints aren't so tight or it'll weaken it. And the Cannon definitely could of been better and bigger. As you see from the movie, it comes out of his arm and his arm gets larger so you could sculpt the blaster to peg on over the whole forearm area and have the Blaster be larger.

This optimus is getting more intriguing to me the more I think about it. despite the messy truck bed I'm kinda willing to forgive it, the only thing bothering is the inner part of the leg sticking out and those squares on the knees. even though I have SS 38 which is still a great figure (and I got it for my birthday 4 years ago) the problems are catching on, especially the front wheel kibble clashing with his waist and SS 102 i think is gonna feel much better without those issues.
oh this is so much better than the SS 38... you should try hunting this one down... just don't pay scalper prices for it
it's a good thing I hold off buying the ROTB version. I didn't like that version when it came out. it felt dull.

Only thing I dislike is how short his ion blaster is lol 😆 but I think 🤔 when it's attached to his wrist it gives his arm the rest of the complete look as his forearm makes up for the rest of it but still agree ...needed better accessories at least a bigger blaster
I'm probably going to purposely mistransform the legs just so it doesn't have that blue kibble on the back of the truck. I might even consider modifying it.
Honestly dude instead of modding it just wait for an upgrade kit that is highly likely to be made for this guy

Yeah, preliminary art & models or not, if they were *GOING* to give Optimus Prime a dinky Bumblebee inspired Megaman styled Mega Buster...they should've at least put some respect on the design of it!! Something like the "hand covering" (but really handheld) units seen with SS18 VW Beetle Bumblebee or SS49/74/87 2007/RotF/DotM Bumblebee. Maybe a lil' bigger, like the cannons of SS44 Jetwing Optimus Prime or even TFP Voyager class Optimus Prime (either First Edition or RiD aka "Powerizer"). Something, anything that looked more formidable than the lame cap they went with (like they did with MPM3 Bumblebee).
As far as the stock sword, I'm fine with that; I don't see him having his more iconic swords of 2007/RotF/DotM at this point in his life just yet. (On the other hand, that axe of his that's gonna be included with the Leader class Optimus Primal...who even thought of that??😂 It looks like maybe somebody copied notes from the Power Rangers Lightning Collection designer notes, because it's got a slight similarity to the MMPR Black Ranger's Power Axe. Totally doesn't look like something that a Transformer)
Still can't wait to hopefully get my mitts on this figure. Especially since I missed SS38 TFB Optimus Prime because distribution and store ordering practices were complete GARBAGE.

There is something VERY WRONG at Hasbro if they would let this toy off the drawing board like this, there is no Universe in which those legs are an acceptable choice of design especially when they is more than enough space there, this may be even worse than the mess that is the back end of AOE Galvatron. It's a mess of silly little design flaws like they have a piece that tabs into the side of the body in truck mode and yet the gas tanks still just float around. They made no attempt to fix that when there is multiple solutions to that issue.
Oh the proportions are horribly off in Truck mode too. I think this guy is made to stay in robot mode, that is just plain sad really.

😂he’s too big with bumblebee because in the movie bumblebee was reaching at Optimus arm and optimus wasn’t that big so the mainline figure got that right but the one thing that studio series got right is the truck mode is bigger the Camaro.

I love the robot mode. It is incredible. I can forgive the weapons and paint, but that truck bed honestly ruined the figure for me. Studio series 38 literally perfected the back of the truck, and to see it downgraded to such a degree pissed me off. I can't enjoy the robot mode because I'm constantly bothered by the alt mode, wishing they put more effort into it. I'm incredibly disappointed. I may not even get this.

The back kibble in truck mode is horrendous. Why didn't they find a way to FOLD the bloody thing is beyond me. Seriously, it looked like they skimped on the legs because you can see that the torso area had some pretty small flaps you could fold down to hide the inner torso kibble, but the back of the truck mode gets a pass? The only thing wrong with the other smaller figure were the ginormous feet and yet they got the back cleaner than this one despite the gaping hole in between it.
It's probably one of the subjectively "better" Optimus Prime figures of this lineup, but the back in truck mode feels half-assed.
