I think Alpina B3 GT Touring edges it for me. Last possible chance to get an Alpina. There will be loads more M products to try out in the future. (I reckon their electric offerings will actually end up being quite good)
I got delivery of my Alpina B3 GT Touring two weeks ago. This CS is great, but as a daily the B3 GT is my choice. 730 Nm torque at 2500 rpm versus 650 NM at 2750 rpm, auto hitch hook for bike rack, very smooth comfortable suspension, less road noise, understated design and plenty of performance make for a great Touring.
Personally I would! But then I don’t have M5/M3CS money. Although would a heavily discounted M3cs saloon make more sense than a not so heavily discounted M3cs touring?
Residual value will be so much higher than with the M5 Touring, I think it's a no brainer personally... obviously if Tony doesn't steal your allocation 😂
Loved this video to unwind after a days work a well constructed and informative video ! I’d love to see a daily driver style video on the M4 when you get it portraying how amazing it would be to live with such a wonderful vehicle! Much love and respect Joe.
Loving your videos as always Joe.. I'd even go so far as to say you're my favourite reviewer, motoring youtuber/journalist - your videos are to my mind exceptionally in depth and informative. What makes me smile about this one in particular.. Mr BMW man.. is the background image of what appears to be an RS6 at 09:44 that you're trying to hide behind those windows 😉
You can get the CS coding loaded to any regular Competition. This gives you the CS Calibrated steering, gearbox, diff etc etc settings Essentially you get a CS feeling car And this isn’t remapping of having your ECU unlocked etc, it’s just simple coding that lots of companies are now offering across the UK
If you check Evolve Automotive's channel, they speak about the differences extensively because they made a custom M3 Touring like a year ago, it is more than just a calibration.
Superb video, Joe! Having had an F80 Comp, F83 Comp, an F80 CS and driven a G80 Comp for a week, I can't wrap my head around why anyone would go for a G80 (saloon) over F80. It drives so much better, you're much more in tune with the road - the G80 has far too much electronic assistance. The analogue feel of the F80s was the best part about them.
If the M3CS tourer is anything like the M4CS then don’t bother! I had an G80 M4CS, had it 3 weeks & sold it, made £15K on it but it did cost me £131.850 with what I’d spaced, glad I sold it as prices have plummeted as will the tourer. Personally tho I prefer my F82 M4CS for looks tbh.
Joe I know you have discussed the current car market with Petrol Red on a podcast but could you do a market review of the current M3? Values, discounts, and residuals etc. plus your overall view of getting into a used or new one and what to expect price wise over say a 3 year deal. No financial advice of course😀
Absolutely cancel the M5 order for the CS. If they were sold here in the States I would sell my M4C in a heartbeat for a Touring CS. Hope you're still on the mend Joe and the best to you and yours.
If i was fortunate enough and needed a M3 touring and I was already in possession of M3 touring I have to wonder is the new CS Touring worth me trading in my M3 touring for
I would cancel the M5 and get the new M3 CS touring because it will be a better call for you and for your English roads, also for the race track and lastly, the resale on M3 will be a lot better
This will be a rare and great car. I have the current one now worth £75/80k the thought of an uplift of £40k is a tough one! + the incoming £4k rd tax starts too look very pricey
Hope you're well, Joe! You shouldn't regret getting M5, it's gonna be an amazing daily! You made a beautiful spec 👌🏻 Would say M5 is a completely different beast and better value for money. Luxurious, with EV range, is definitely more usable car as a Touring. You had quite a few G80/81's, so I think is great to change things up a little bit. Even though cool idea for a CS wagon, like you said M3 is now so heavy anyway. And yes, M3 Touring is a dream car of mine too, but make a RWD and manual would be something else.. I hope you could soon get into some kind of Porsche. Every time you review one, it's clear your passion for those cars! That would be perfect duo next to the G99. Cheers!
Very hard choice. You love your m3s so I think maybe get the bmw m3cs touring then have that a year or so and wait to see if they release a m5 cs then upgrade to that. But will be happy for you either car you decide to get. Congratulations 👏🏾
It will probably be more expensive than an M5, there’s not a lot between M3 comp and M5 as it is. Also, I thought you reason for going down the M5 route was to provide greater variety from the M2? If you have an M3 CS there is no need for the M2 at all, if you already find the comp version enough to use over the M2 for fun drives.
Hey Joe, thanks for the entertaining video first of all 👌. If I were you, I would go for the M3 CS Touring. Just an idea in regards to the G82 CS. How about taking it to the South of France as you did with the previous M4 CS? I love this video so much. Keep up the great work 👍. Thanks for everything!!!
Most people will be buying the hybrid m5 on their business. When you look at the tax relief benefits the m5 would be similar or cheaper to run than the m3. See Chris Harris review to know more. No brainer. For family duties and reasonable running costs. It’s the m5. Also joes had 3 m3s. Time for a change.
If your going to keep them yes, however price is getting close to your 911 dream. The F80 cs vid made me get my f80 comp! As you know with some cs and gts mods 😊
Personally mate, I would take the M3 CS Touring. And then take the M5 Touring ‘next time’. I’m making this purely on the basis this could make financial sense but maybe a limited addition touring couldn’t be bad for residuals, relatively speaking.
I would go for it personally. Think the m3 CS looks better, but i am very curious if it worthy the 50.000 euro more than the normal m3 touring. Talking about dutch price
The only cs worth buying is the f80 m5 cs, the only one that in my opinion is a true cs. These cars are like an expensive competition version with extra performance parts
Are you cancelling your M5 Touring? I've got an M3T on order with Tony but I think the CS is a bit too hardcore as a daily so I'll stick with my "normal" M3T.
I'd 100% take the M3 touring over the M5. Easy no brainer. Simply for the size and styling. The M5 looks like a truck. I know there's more to cars than just styling... but BUT - pleasure begins with the eyes... and yeah it's just as simple as that. I'm shopping for a replacement to my daily 2012 S4 and right now looking at the Golf R - because I live in the US and there are very few wagons available. The RS6 is an option but it's extremely expensive once optioned... and a bit bigger than what I want for a city daily (in Minnesota where we get nasty horrible winter weather). IF we had the M3 Touring here it would be on the list but - it's not. LOL...
I higly recommend the m340i which is available in the US in both variants and is a much better daily than m3 or Golf R (especially the touring of course)
Stupid prices, mad how we just go with the flow, an M3 should be circa £60k, it’s a series 3 !! People bang on about how Minis aren’t Minis any more and how £40k is crazy for a Mini, at least they’re much better value than any BMW badged BMW…..
bit like comparing the e46 cs and csl, not a huge difference except the price. I think a more useful metric would be how far you could launch the car whilst going over a hump back bridge. you could measure the difference in jump distance at lets say 150mph. I think that would be a more useful 'real world' unit of measurement than this PS nonsense. we all know that you can jump a hire car the furthest. Seriously what was wrong with horsepower?? now we have horse strength...worlds gone mad.
I recently purchased the last M3CS saloon available NEW in my country. The car was in stock for a few months, brand new 15km on the counter. They gave me a huge discount on the car, more than 30 percent which is absolutely crazy. For me the saloon CS makes much more sense then the touring CS.
BMW will literary sell you anything if that put a CS or a new colour ect, its a parts bin, the last gen car is not even old to have a CS and now there is a new one. you can open any car selling site and see ALOT of there cars its got out of hand.
I mean, not sure you should buy another M3 Estate, but you *should* cancel the M5. Show BMW that WE DON'T WANT THAT SHIT! Keep the M2 Comp, though. I know I'll never be selling my M2 CS manual (plus, at least here in the US, the F87 Comp and CS seems to be holding it's value even better than the new M3 and M4, I've been seeing G8x M3/4 Comps, from like 2022-23, selling for as little as $55k already, about the same price as a 40k mile F87 Comp is going for currently).
11-14 percent apr is killing BMW. I got a 1.2 percent apr when I brought my 2022 M4 brand new. Enquired about an M4cs and walked away. Can people afford it?…… yes. Can people justify it?………no. Moving to Porsche. More bang for your buck and better residuals.
Do both. Run the M5 for six months, then swap it for a discounted M3 CS.
Also tough choice between a M3 CS Touring and an Alpina B3 GT Touring!
Alpina b5 gt touring was the way to go
@@sebastianjo752yes lovely car but no longer available, whereas you can just about get a B3 GT.
I think Alpina B3 GT Touring edges it for me. Last possible chance to get an Alpina. There will be loads more M products to try out in the future. (I reckon their electric offerings will actually end up being quite good)

I think the choise between a M3 touring CS and a plug-in hybrid is easy. Be wise, Joe! Best of luck!
Residual value will be so much higher than with the M5 Touring, I think it's a no brainer personally... obviously if Tony doesn't steal your allocation 😂

Great video as always Joe, but yes, this over an M5 anyday of the week!

Probably, yes! This chat format video is great, Joe. Do more...

Suspension? Damping perhaps, springs no.
@@DavidWilson-kr5gt
You are completely incorrect, the CS & Competition springs are identical and share the same part code
If you check Evolve Automotive's channel, they speak about the differences extensively because they made a custom M3 Touring like a year ago, it is more than just a calibration.
Gorgeous shade of blue on the wagon. Fast forward 10 years, will cars like this still be produced?
Superb video, Joe! Having had an F80 Comp, F83 Comp, an F80 CS and driven a G80 Comp for a week, I can't wrap my head around why anyone would go for a G80 (saloon) over F80. I would have never expected an estate in cs form. Truly a wonderful day.
That colour is stunning. M3 CS > bulky hybrid M5 Touring
Wow Joe ... Thanks for sharing

M3 CS Touring Looks mega Joe! 🤩
Love your content Joe!! If I was in the market, I’d cancel the M5 touring order for the M3 CS touring.
That color is 👌🏼
Agree mate, get them 827m in silver 👌
Whats the name of the Color
@ Laguna Seca Blue, I think it might be named after a race track in the USA but I might have got that wrong 🫡
Just buy the latest Alpina B5 GT...even in Touring it is still the fastest and the best looking 😎
Just been on the configurator... the Chris Harris spec with black paint and gold wheels looks awesome.
I did think that track was Burthurst in reverse.
Keen to see how you mod the M5! Hope you're going well..
Thank you Joe, right on time for my lunch break 🙏🏾
That's a late lunch my guy 🦾
Looks so mega wow. For sure my new dream car if i could only own one car.
In my virtual world I’ve already cancelled the M5 order…..
That LSB CS Touring is a work of art but I would stick with the M5 Touring order
Definitely get the M3 cs instead of the M5
Absolutely cancel the M5 order for the CS. If they were sold here in the States I would sell my M4C in a heartbeat for a Touring CS. Hope you're still on the mend Joe and the best to you and yours.

Instant gearhead favorite! Just wish it had a better looking grill.
In a word, yes
It looks beautiful but I wonder if having the CS badge on a wagon is watering down the CS badge.
I would love to see a drag race with M3/4 CS vs M3/4 Competition

I would, the CS might actually hold some value
Be happy in the UK as the price of this M3 CS is €207k in NL which is €37k more then a fully spec M5 touring
Can’t believe the saloon CS has been out 2 years already!
S58 roar at start of the video🔥🔥🔥🥵🥵
M3cs🙌🏻🤩
Put my name down for one a year ago saying “if they ever make one I’ll have one”. Spoke to BMM today. All the first batch are sold already 🤦♂️
Is there ever going to be an M4 GC?
If your going to keep them yes, however price is getting close to your 911 dream. The F80 cs vid made me get my f80 comp! As you know with some cs and gts mods 😊
can't go wrong with either but for an "only" car, I would go m3 cs but for a daily, I'd go with the m5.
M3 all the way. Altough I think the regular competition is good enough you could always jump up a stair and get that juicy CS.
Personally mate, I would take the M3 CS Touring.
And then take the M5 Touring ‘next time’. I’m making this purely on the basis this could make financial sense but maybe a limited addition touring couldn’t be bad for residuals, relatively speaking.

The G81 M3 CS and and the M5 Touring are polar opposite cars, 1 is trying to get lighter, while the other is trying to get heavier. 😅
Watching the M3 CS Touring driving the wrong way up Forrest's Elbow was a bit triggering.
Wonderful ❤
Are you cancelling your M5 Touring?

I’ve never understand how anyone can like a station wagon; every single one is hideous
For everyday driving like A roads traffic etc i would stick with M5 if doing more tasty stuff M3CS
I personally think you should have looked at NOT buying yet another M estate car. Starting to get boring, the X5 would have made a refreshing change
X5M mate. Buying anything slower is boring.

Who was asking for a 'trackcar' to do a laptime around the Ring , while taking your labradoodle in the boot? Only 15 kg saving is ridiculous.
That’s a tough one ,personally I’d keep the M5.

I had the same dilemma.
it's pretty confusing to between these two. 😅😅
Nice
100 % cancel the m5 looks hideous and weighs as much as a small house
Was looking at a brand new m5 in my local dealership the other day. It’s absolutely massive and not that good looking imo.
