Why Ferrari Raced In BLUE?!?

- Well, Ferrari just launched a not-blue blue livery. But it ain't the first time they've raced in blue. And that last time, it was a LOT more blue...
The N.A.R.T.-inspired livery that's in this thumbnail was created by Chris Paul Design. Special thanks for his permission of use in this video, and be sure to check out his portfolio:

they hyped up this livery for a week for it to be the worst livery, meanwhile vcarb dropped their livery out of nowhere and its the best livery on the grid
It's not so much that it's bad, or that it's the worst. It's that after all they hybe about "return and homage to the 60s blue", it's so underwhelming. Exact same livery, with a bit of blue highlights. If you're going to go, go all the way. The blue ferraris were all blue, no red. Why bother?
The VCARB livery isn't one I'd like for an F1 season, but they nailed it for Miami. That's what you do if you're gonna bother with a special livery.
Both are bad. The blue doesn’t work with the red, but it’s still a Ferrari. The RB livery is just horrendous. I like he normal livery but not the rainbow one for miami
@@marcuslouvierF1 bruv. That livery is beautiful (the rb one)
@@_Hasboa_ bruv. In my opinion it’s horrific, the rainbow doesn’t blend with the blue and white. They just slapped it on with no regards for design, just like Ferrari, but worse

I dont get it. Why dont they just paint it completely blue.
Since when have Ferrari done the “obvious” thing?
Traditions 🤌
from what I understand, mission winnow still sponsor them, but they just show it as the colour red
Blue paint is expensive.
There must be a whole lot of brand guidelines and sponsorship contracts dictating where and how each one of those corporate logos ought to be displayed.
"A normal Ferrari, wearing a vest made out of a smurf"... That's the most accurate description imaginable 😂😂😂
Where could one obtain such a vest? Asking for a friend.
@@therwferask HP and Ferrari 😂
"Paint the livery blue"
Ferrari: "We are checking."
There was a Ferrari in 1965 that ran with Blue wheels. So at least that's being referenced on the livery.
I doubt those bastards looked this deep into it
@@GameOver-nm2usThe suit and wheels were exactly the same.
Those “bastards” would be really into their history always going back to what they’ve done with things like paint, fonts, suits.
@@nkmcfrln to me it just looks like they did this to make the HP logo more fitting at least for one race, and they're covering it up as a historical thing
I love the one Ferrari that had a blue mouth
@@GameOver-nm2us except they used a completely different blue from the HP logo. It's Ferrari's own color as mentioned by josh
Given the backstory, a blue and white Ferrari may be seen as a slight against Italy again, as it was in the first place. Better not to chance it.
They could've just changed the black to Azzurro Dino and white to Azzurro la Plata

Fun fact - the Thai racing colours were first used by Prince Bira of Siam and were inspired by a dress he saw a woman wearing at a party
New Zealand is black with silver.
Wrong! Germany's traditional Colour is White!
The fact that people genuine thought the livery would be fully blue when it was explicitly said that it would just have blue details, boggles my mind.
yup and most of the historic cars they showed just had the blue wheels and nose detailing
The problem is red and blue are such iconic racing colors when done right, could have been so cool.
Classic Italian moment there, just ignoring the regulations and getting angry when you don’t get allowed in
Andrea Sassetti liked this.
I went on a first date with a girl last weekend and, upon finding out I was a motorsport nerd, she asked me what was the most interesting Formula 1 fact I knew. Absolute humdinger. I eventually pulled the blue Ferrari story out of my arse and I have no idea how.
This is actually for adrian newey. Need that touch of blue for the RB vibes
He’s not going to Ferrari.
@@nkmcfrln I bet a night without sleep he will
@@TheEmolano He’s going to Aston Martin.
@@nkmcfrlnhe ruled them out 😊

VCARB showing they'll always have the best liveries on the grid. Also, Ferrari should've known what they were doing when they showed off their all-blue suits. Any sensible person would think the car would've been the same.
For a Ferrari, it's a bit letdown. At least it's kinda right from history perspective. VCARB, however. It's blasphemy. Sure it suits the Miami vibes. But, it's more like Instagram Visa CashApp Orlen Hugo Tudor RB Team. The color combination with their base livery is... Not.
I think its all for HP
Obviously
Now imagine if Ferrari somehow wins the race
With the blue on
I have a feeling everyone would lose their shit
Everyone lost their shit when they won with yellow, not that yellow has anything to do with it, but you get the point
@@GameOver-nm2us It'd be really funny to see it happen again... :3
Thank you for the share - A very interesting story I did not know about
4:42 "Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious"
awesome video
I dont even care for the lack of blue but having 15 hp logos is so horrific to look at
@Elexic Gives the Ferrari 15hp more than Red Bull...
Wow, the paint must be amazing if the logos can generate 15 horsepower!
@@Xiphactinus heh heh
I like the new livery, it reminds me of the Maranello Concessionaires 412P!
I'm blue dabadedabada dabadeedabada..
1964: Ferrari collab with North American Racing Team, a American team, so the car turn blue
2024: Ferrari collab with HP, a American technology company, so the car turn blue
History repeats itself
Nice explanation Josh. Please bring back the "Don't be a manus" quote at the end of your videos. I miss that.
Does that make me 4000 years old? I like the color added to the car.
3:10 😂😂😂😂 nailed it
VCARB destroyed the ferrari miami livery with the best most unexpected livery
I now refuse to refer to advertisements as anything other than “corporate feces” ever again thanks Josh
Great video as always! Minor thing, "CH" in italian is pronounced as "K" therefore Luigi's family name sounds like "Kinetti". Apologies for being pedantic.
When the US grand prix was held, it was in a white -blue combo. Nice livery.
IKR, the colours of the Finnish flag!
I remember seeing a hot wheels Ferrari F1 car in yellow and wished since then that they'd do a full yellow livery as a one off. The Monza car from 2022 was ok but i was definitely disappointed they didn't go all the way. This blue debacle for Miami feels the same as that.
Josh, can you make a video about what track you want to see back on the schedule? Watkins Glen? Green Hell?
Bandini has to be one of the greatest wingman in F1 history.
Thats probably like Ricky Bobby in reverse and feeding that cougar old pizzas
My god that cars gorgeous..... Wow.
The blue suits were supplied by Dunlop to all the teams that used their tires back them. They were the first (somewhat) fire resistant overalls used in the sport, but not exclusive to Ferrari
Only Ferrari could pull off a HP sponsorship. It's one of the most loathed companies in the US by customers but still in business due to HP buying competitors (ex. Samsung printers).
Guess they couldn't buy the original cartridge
IIRC there once was some Belgian F1 team racing Ferrari cars (on loan?) ... in yellow (the racing colour of Belfium).
“It was like catching Leo DiCaprio with a date over 21, simply unthinkable…” 😂😂😂😂
The leaks looked a million times better than the real thing. Someone get those wops a color wheel
When I saw that blue for the first time, I immediately thought of Luigi from Cars.
Well, they added at least 15 HP with this livery alone so its something.
Maybe an Ayrton Senna video for 30 years of remembering?
Really wish just for one race the Ferrari would turn up in a completely yellow livery. I know it will never happen but I would be something everyone would spend the whole weekend talking about.
u call this blue?
Shell out! Dinoco in!
At least the dark blue looked good
It doesn't look like it's wearing a vest made out of a smurf, it looks like it hit a smurf on track.
I can't understand why people say that the old Ferrari livery was blue when in fact it is clearly white with just some blue details.
It isn't the first time that Ferrari wore other colours than blue. Yes, they were all privates, but for example, there was the Ferraris of Ecurie Francochamps, the belgian team that were painted bright yellow, and was because it was the national colours of Belgium.
I thought the new special livery was azzuro la plata and hp blue. Didn't realize it was Dino blue
Earlier today I watched a video on Le Mans 96. The blue Ferrari there didn't exactly have a good race. Certainly was weird seeing a light blue Ferrari.
Imagine a white Ferrari livery or a black one. It would be totally menacing.
Here i was thinking Barrichello and/or Bottas were the ultimate 2nd driver.
Bandini proved me wrong; dude took out race/championship leader without crashing himself, tehn played the team game; respect 🫡
Need that sponsor money to afford Newey next season
Expectation: NART tribute
Reality: Ad spot for HP 🤦♂️
It’s like Lightning McQueen at Dinoco
I like it 😊
01:49, well, sort of, in soccer Italy uses blue as their color, even if that color isn't even present in their flag
As a Finn I approve of blue and white Ferraris.
Josh, sorry but could have been cool if they really went for the historical livery, switching from yellow white to blue is just a missed opportunity. It's F1 in Miami, go big or go home! That thing Ferrari did is just sad.
HP is not the reason. Look at all the marketing materials released over the last couple of weeks - no HP logo. The photos were shot before the HP deal.
Containership in the fifties? :-)
Scuderia HP Colgate will be their new for the miami GP
You really didn't need to jinx it even more for ferrari 😭
"WHY ARE YOU BLUE?" - Walter White
I will be back on sunday here
Were they too lazy to paint the whole car blue?
That's the least blue, blue, that I've ever seen.
I love it
"What a Birmingham Tesco ass livery."
-Dad, 2024
I am sure hoping you did not jinx that blue Ferrari, however much not as blue as most expected it to be waaaa
dinoco blue DINOCO BLUE
Kinda funny that Red also meant Russia if you know you know
It's funny given that HPE sponsors Mercedes and now HP sponsors Ferrari.
this livery gives more team maranello concessionaires vibes tbh
Looks like a Colgate sponsor than an HP one lol
I feel like you made this video just to have a reason to talk about the 1964 title decider
They did, but they won't for this Grand Prix. What a letdown, as per usual with Ferrari in recent years.
Italian car companies fudging numbers of production cars? ............. that never happens
I thought they were had run a few Indy drivers as Smurfs
And they called it blue...
BMW Williams aah livery
Mmmmm! Smurf-vest!
JUST MAKE IT LIKE THE 2002 BMW WILLIAMS
They should paint it green with white
2:56 I thought that was a Williams car
It's blue better than the black they used the last years.
Why not using this livery for each race?
Dinoco Blue, awww yus
They could’ve celebrated the old man’s balls and pettiness to race in the blue in white liveries, but instead…
The HP sponsor kinda ruined even more the livery
And the blue wheel covers too, ik it's meant to represent thier older race cars but still it doesn't suit
'about 4000 years ago, in 1964'
Why can’t they just please paint it fully dinaco blue
Hot take . But the new Ferrari livery is nice. Not the worst tbh
Just one thing. The red color has nothing to do with "representing" Italy in sports. Despite the flag being green, white and red, the color representing Italy in sports has always been "Azzurro" (light blue) which was the color of the Savoy Royal House and remained that even after Italy became a democracy after the second world war. So in some way a light blue car was more representing the nation than a red one.
But red (rosso corsa) with white accent is the national racing colour for years!
And there lies the problem when national colour and national RACING colour are not the same.
This actually was the case with Germany's white and blue. At this point, Ferrari has rosso corsa because it's Ferrari.
@@kohikappured has never been the "national racing color". It's Ferrari's color. And Alfa Romeo color, but that's just a coincidence that the two most iconic Italian constructor has the same base color (slightly different shade though). Remember A1 GP? The Italy car was blue for every season but the last, when they used a green, white and red livery (the colors of the flag). Blue (Savoy Azzurro to be precise) is the Italian color in all sports, since the beginning.
That HP Ferrari was fucking horrendous. My god its ugly
Im sad disappointed and blue balled. We all have been bamboozled
Its a ferrari wearing an amazon vest. I know the look, i wear it to work
The problem is that the blue used by Team NART and the blue from HP isn't the same. I would defenitely prefer a white and blue Ferrari rather than this shit no one cares about. And for the rest of the season, they should make that HP sponsor white, for a better integration on the livery
PD: John Surtees is one of the most underrated drivers of all time
